Additional Items Covered

This course also introduces ISO Schematics for hydraulics.  The first day of a machine manufacturers course generally involves learners opening up a huge ISO Schematic for the machine in question and then going blank with the trainer telling them that 'obviously the load sensing network blah blah blah....' This course prepares learners for more advanced training and ensures they can safely work on and service and inspect and carry out basic repairs on hydraulic machinery.

Start and Finish Times

To allow you a relaxed start to the day, training commences and is completed at lunchtime.  So you can head over to us at your normal start time even if you are four hours away.  Finish times are the same allowing you to get home for a reasonable time.

About ServiceTech

ServiceTech is a modular training and assessment programme to train and qualify existing and new technicians who work with equipment and machinery supply. This include hire companies, machinery agents and sales organisations.

Why is it required?

All too often technical and compliance courses concentrate on a process rather than helping attendees learn how equipment works and how to test inspect and repair it.  All ServiceTech courses are written around developing technicians engineering and technical skills and knowledge and all ServiceTech courses include course workbooks for each learner to keep.

Who is it aimed at?

New starters or those progressing their career through a hands-on technical route. The programme is not limited to new job holders and would also benefit existing Service Technicians that have some experience who would benefit from further training and a formal qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What PPE / clothing will I need to bring along?

Safety boots or shoes must be worn.

Normal workwear is also recommended as the majority of the course is hands-on.

If you use prescription glasses or lenses please ensure you have them available for the training.

  • I am dyslexic will I be able to complete the course?

Great news! 63% of technicians and mechanics based on a survey of Plant Mechanic college attendees were found to be dyslexic learners.  Our training is based around supporting dyslexic learners and those who have other learning differences.

Whether you have been diagnosed or not, we will help you to get the best result you can get. We do not use formal exams but use practical assessments throughout the process.

Just get in touch with us if you would like to talk about any specific support you may benefit from, we will do everything we can to support you.

  • What time do courses start and finish when at Penybont?

We are based in the midlands and rather than travelling the day before we start courses at lunchtime (12.30).  This allows our attendees to set off from home at normal worktime and attend training that day even if they are based 4 hours away from our centre.

Finish times are the same, so you arrive, have lunch, start training and on the last day of your attendance you can have lunch and still be home for a reasonable time.

For attendees that are local to us, they can still pop into work first before heading over.

  • What meals and refreshments can I expect?

Yes! For those doing the 12.30 starts theres a sandwich on arrival, hot evening meal and then a hot buffet breakfast the next day.  If you are leaving that day you also get a packed lunch to take with you.

Hungry learners are bad news and rather than the usual terrible training buffet of limp sandwiches and luke warm items including salad that 97.6% of attendees can't stand, you will get asked what you would like to eat too… and we cater for all dietary requirements
