Introduction to Brain Disorders:

The course begins with an introduction to the fundamentals of brain disorders, exploring the anatomy and function of the brain and how disruptions in these processes can lead to disorders. Students will gain insight into the classification of brain disorders, diagnostic approaches, and the impact of these conditions on individuals and society.

Neurodegenerative Disorders:

Students will delve into the progressive deterioration of the nervous system seen in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease. Through studying the underlying molecular, cellular, and genetic mechanisms, students will gain a deeper understanding of disease progression and potential therapeutic interventions.

Neuropsychiatric Disorders:

This module focuses on psychiatric conditions that originate from abnormalities in brain function, including mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. Through examining neurobiological correlates, psychosocial factors, and treatment modalities, students will explore the complex interplay between brain function and mental health.

Traumatic Brain Injuries:

Students will explore the causes, consequences, and management of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), ranging from concussions to severe head trauma. Developmental Disorders:

This module examines disorders that arise during early brain development, such as autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and intellectual disabilities. Through exploring genetic, environmental, and neurodevelopmental factors, students will gain insight into the complex etiology of these disorders and approaches to support individuals affected by them.

Treatment and Prevention:

The final module focuses on current and emerging treatments for brain disorders, including pharmacological interventions, behavioral therapies, and neurorehabilitation techniques. Students will also explore strategies for primary and secondary prevention, emphasizing the importance of early intervention, lifestyle modifications, and public health initiatives in mitigating the burden of brain diseases.
