A friendly urban farm offering hands-on educational and learning opportunities.LOVE GORGIE FARM, FORMERLY GORGIE CITY FARM, IS OPERATED BY EDUCATION AND SOCIAL CARE CHARITY LOVE LEARNING. THE CHARITY SUPPORTS VULNERABLE CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS, USING INNOVATIVE WAYS TO ENGAGE THEM IN LEARNING. Located 2 miles from Central Edinburgh in the neighbourhood of Gorgie, the site was a waste depot until the 1930s. Horse-drawn refuse carts would deposit their loads from the wagons to train cars. The same railway still passes to the west of the farm today. The site was later used for civil defence training during the war. It later became derelict and disused, owned by the local authority for many years to come.
