Learn how to code with the Python programming language

Coding is a skill that is useful in a wide variety of contexts.  We use code to work with data, to create animations, to make web apps, to control environmental systems, etc. Learning to code will also help to develop problem solving skills and, maybe, better maths skills.  Code is a form of communication and so this skill can also be enhanced.

Over a period of 30 hours you will learn how to:

• store data in 'variables' in a computer's memory
• use operators to manipulate data of various types (join text strings, calculate values, etc)
• use selection for decision making in an app
• use repetition to allow lists of data to be processed, or to allow multiple attempts at entering a password or other value
• write functions to divide a task up into smaller, more understandable chunks
• process lists of data and data records
• test your code
• complete a small real-life project using the skills you have gained (the project will be introduced at the start of the course and you will learn how to write code to make it work)
