The workshop price includes 6 hours of guided tuition, which includes all the necessary materials and equipment including aprons and gloves.
You will be given your own clear workshop handouts to take away with you.
Self service teas, coffee and biscuits will be available all day. Please bring a pack lunch with you.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The workshop will teach you the basic principles and practice of natural dyeing using everyday kitchen and foraged dyestuffs. There will also be an introduction to indigo and over dyeing.
Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those that have a little experience who would like some more practical guidance.
MATERIALS
We like to work with as many sustainable materials as possible and, where possible, we try to source end of line and second hand materials that would otherwise go to waste.
You will be dyeing a range of natural yarns from hand spun recycled banana yarn to linen and organic cotton.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Claudia, Ellie's mum, has been teaching English for over 30 years, specialising in prison education.
Building on a life long interest in textiles, she teamed up with Elka, to produce naturally dyed yarns for fashion and upholstery fabrics.
In response to many inquiries about natural dyeing, we are now delighted to be offering this 6 hour workshop.
