The Women’s Budget Group is a is independent and not-for-profit membership network consisting of women’s voluntary organisations, academics and policy expert whose aims are to promote a gender equal economy. We do this through conducting in depth analysis of the impact of policy on women. Our analysis has been used to influence policy debates on a national and local level. We run several projects that work to build the capacity of women’s organisations as well as national and international campaigning organisations and other equality groups. Find out more about the capacity building work we are doing through our Local Data Project Nationally, we have recently published our final report from our Feminist Green New Deal project. The report provides a clear roadmap to a sustainable and equal UK economy. Internationally, our Global Partnerships & Learning Programme has been working together with civil society organisations on how they can effectively be in open dialogue with their governments to develop policies and allocate resources in ways that improve the lives of women, with an emphasis on the most marginalised women. We strongly believe that we can all work together to design and demand a new economy: an economy which has the wellbeing of individuals, communities and the planet at its centre; an economy which values care, both paid and unpaid. Lancaster Aikido Club is a not-for-profit martial arts club which has been teaching martial arts in Lancaster since 1976. We train in a friendly atmosphere, focusing on daily practice of Aikido as a pragmatic and functional martial art for self-defence, while endeavouring never to lose sight of its ultimate aim: the cultivation of human beings capable of sharing a peaceful world. Aikido is just as applicable to our daily lives, in our relationships with our family, communication with friends and work colleagues, and most importantly our relation with ourselves, as it is to a situation requiring self-defence. Training will develop you physically and mentally, but neither great strength nor high levels of fitness are required to begin. Wellbeing is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and our goal is to assist in your development; providing encouragement, education, and emotional support throughout the collaborative learning process. Aikido 'toughens the body and polishes the spirit'. Aikido is available to all ages and many lifetime practitioners continue to train into their 70s or 80s. We have senior practitioners training regularly at Lancaster who did not begin training until their 40s. We are affiliated with the Aikikai Hombu Dojo (Japan) and a network of Dojos in Europe (Traditional Aikido Europe) through Lewis Bernaldo de Quiros (6th Dan) who serves as Technical Director and Examiner granting Aikikai dan ranks according to Hombu regulations.

For thousands of years, compassion has been seen as the antidote to suffering and harmfulness. Research has now revealed how our capacities for compassion evolved, how it works in our bodies and our brains, and when cultivated, is a source of courage and wisdom to address suffering. The definition of compassion used by the Compassionate Mind Foundation is "...a sensitivity to suffering in self and others with a commitment to try to alleviate and prevent it." Compassionate courage lies in the willingness to see into the nature and causes of suffering - in ourselves, others and the human condition. The Compassionate Mind Foundation was founded as an international charity in 2006 by Professor Paul Gilbert and colleagues including Prof Deborah Lee, Dr Mary Welford, Dr Chris Irons, Dr Ken Goss, Dr Ian Lowens, Dr Chris Gillespie, Diane Woollands and Jean Gilbert. We believe that one of the greatest challenges facing humanity is how to stimulate compassionate ways of thinking and problem solving for the benefit of all. The Compassionate Mind Foundation promotes an evolutionary and bio-psycho-social informed approach to compassion which now forms the basis of a psychotherapy (CFT) and Compassionate Mind Training. The last 15 years have seen an expanding evidence base for a compassion focused approach to the alleviation of mental health difficulties and promoting wellbeing. It is now being used internationally in various settings including hospitals, prisons, schools and businesses. ‍

If you've had a traumatic birth or have symptoms of PTSD because of a difficult birth experience, we explain birth trauma, its symptoms & treatment.I am Alexandra Heath, Clinical Hypnotherapist (DipHyp since 2010, NCH registered), birth doula, founder of this website and creator of the book and training resources listed on this website. I believe that the parenting life stage is fraught with trauma, change and transition. As such it naturally is a time when emotional and mental wellbeing is often tested, strained and vulnerable. P1020162.jpg How we feel during pregnancy about transitioning into motherhood, how we birth and how we are cared for afterwards can all have seismic and long term effects on how we feel and how we parent. Problems with trauma symptoms, anxiety and depression are unsurprisingly common for parents navigating the choppy waters of fertility, pregnancy, birth, post natal recovery and the first year. I love supporting parents so that they can navigate these challenges and to go on and thrive with their families. I have worked with 100s of parents to lift the heavy feelings that can remain after a difficult or traumatic birth, or perinatal experience. This therapeutic process has proved so effective for parents that I have trained over 350 birth professionals in these skills since 2016. You can find a list of those practitioners here.
