Matravers School is a large, traditional 11-18 school pleasantly situated in the centre of the market town of Westbury. We occupy a very large, spacious 13-acre site. The school buildings are of mixed age, blending traditional with more modern buildings. Recently the school has benefited from state-of-the-art additions including: an £8.5million STEM (Science, maths, technology) Centre in 2019; a £1.5million upgrade to our English and Humanities block in 2020; a new Dance and Music block added in 2000; a Sports Hall and Dining Hall added in 2004; a Drama block added in 2008; and a new Sixth Form block added in 2012. Technology plays a central part in our school and we benefit from a range of technology and teaching facilities throughout the school. On-site facilities include specialist accommodation for Technology, Art and Ceramics and Photography. There is one large gymnasium for Physical Education alongside a new Sports Centre and a purpose-built fitness suite. The Sports Centre is also used by the community in the evenings. There are a separate Music and Drama building with specialised Dance Studios and Music Performance and Practice rooms. Specialised Science laboratories enable the School to offer a full programme in Science to every student. Our brand new Sixth Form building opened in 2012 to accommodate our Sixth Form offering an exciting and modern learning environment. Further significant investment in the school has led to: re-housing and updating our library provision; creating an upgraded Food Technology area; refurbishing our main teaching block; re-decorating our Music block; creating our "Outdoor Education" facility; creating our Allotment; upgrading our Inclusion facilities; installation of a "Fitness Suite".

We offer a number of one to one services for children and young people aged from 4-18 including: Art Therapy Counselling First Response Crisis Support Service – for children and young people aged 11+ who are experiencing domestic abuse at home or within their own relationships Flexible drop-in support Music Therapy Play and Youth Work Play Therapy Solution Focussed Practice We deliver this work from our two premises in North Shields, and in schools and other community settings throughout North Tyneside and Northumberland. Don’t worry if you are not sure which service would be of benefit to you/your child – we will discuss this with you when we speak to you. We offer lots of additional services for children and young people including group programmes, therapeutic groups and free family activities. We regularly hold different types of events, including an Introduction to Acorns Coffee Morning, which explains a bit more about who we are and what we, and where we can answer questions you may have. Once a grammar school, it became a community comprehensive school in 1968 and it continues to be true to the word ‘comprehensive’ some 50 years later. Having taught in many schools and as a member of the senior leadership team at previous schools too, I am immensely proud to be at the forefront of the everyday running of this ambitious school. I joined Malet Lambert in 2014 as a Deputy Headteacher, before becoming Head of School in 2016 and, therefore, I now know our pupils, staff and community well. ABOUT US The St. Neots English Centre is a language school that specialises in UK School Integration and Study Holiday Courses for groups of young learners aged 11 to 17 from across the world. The school is situated in the historic Cambridgeshire Market Town of St. Neots, located close to the famous University City of Cambridge. Our Study Holiday courses last between 1 and 4 weeks and can be tailored to meet your requirements.
