Northumberland Community Development Company are proud to have been awarded funding by The Prince’s Countryside Fund for a two year project. This award will be used to support business growth in the rural communities in the west of Northumberland. We aim to work with people who are considering self-employment as a viable alternative to employment. We are particularly interested in assisting people from the farming community looking to diversify, home working to support young families and helping older people stay in their communities. We want to contribute to vibrant, economically stable communities, enabling people to live, work and socialise in their community. A Bespoke Course The course is exclusively aimed at learners with Education, Health and Care Plans. 1 Year Programme The programme will run for 15 hours a week over 3 days and transitions young people into further education or prepares them for the workplace. A Range of Modules The mandatory modules include progression routes which focus on preparing for further study or employment. There is an extensive range of optional modules should a person want to expand their knowledge in a specific area. Functional Skills We offer separate qualifications in both Maths and English ranging from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. The qualification helps to prepare people for further learning or develop their knowledge and skills in a work-related subject. Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications included where needed, levels from Entry 1 to Level 2. Bespoke course delivered within a small group setting based on preparing to transition for the following academic year. Units can be studied at different levels to support spiky profiles, work-related units in Animal Care, Business and Administration, Catering, Charity and Voluntary sector, Cleaning, Construction, Creative Skills, Customer Service/Contact Centres, Hair and Beauty, IT, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Retail, Sport and Leisure. Progress into further study at Entry 3 or Level 1 in the vocational subjects studied or into entry level employment in the vocational subjects studied. Assessment methods: (Presented in a portfolio of evidence) - Oral/Written Questioning - Discussion with the Learner - Use of Others (Witness Testimony) - Looking at Learner Statements - Simulation - Skills Tests - Assignments - Projects - Case Studies

Manor Training & Resource Centre (MaTReC) is a voluntary-sector training organisation. Its legal status is that of a charitable company limited by guarantee. Founded in 1987 its primary aim is to empower the local community by delivering low cost training to equip people with the skills to re-enter and/or advance within the labour market. Manor Training & Resource Centre Ltd (MaTReC), evolved from Manor Employment Project (MEP), which began life in 1979. The MEP project was set up to provide premises for small local businesses. By the mid 80s the issue of training had become increasingly important, so MaTReC was established in April 1987, with the express aim of providing local people with the opportunities to obtain skills and qualifications. We now offer training to all the peopleof Sheffield and surrounding areas. MaTReC’s main site was converted from old shops using local labour. It was opened in 1989 by Richard Caborn MP. The charity is constantly updating its programme of courses so whether its Functional Skills Maths and English, GCSE Maths or English or other courses MaTReC will help find the right course for you. We help to re-engage adults furthest away from the job market by identifying and removing barriers to learning. We teach functional basic skills including English, Maths and basic ICT. We pride ourselves in supporting adults with specific learning difficulties to reach their potential to gain confidence and self esteem.

Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. We are accredited training providers for a number of job-related skills training programmes including NVQs and apprenticeships. They include Health and Social Care, Business & Administration, Security (SIA) As part of our employment support scheme, we work in partnership with various national and local organisations to offer training and employment opportunities to the local community. This service comes with our bespoke quality one-2-one career advice and support to give the long-term unemployed an opportunity to kick-start their career. On employment opportunities, we are now delivering Security, Cleaning and Health Care recruitment services. Through our very successful training programmes which include work placements, we can guarantee highly trained and motivated staff in cleaning, healthcare Assistants/Support Workers and Security Officers under our new win-win work programme. Under this programme, established businesses get our highly trained and vetted staff from ourselves to work for them. with minimal cost for the labour as well as offering an opportunity to improve living standards of local people.
