To that end, we provide practical, value-for money, relevant training for education professionals involved in the area of Special Needs We have a range of courses which cover a variety of roles at Secondary School and Further Education level. These include a brief overview for general staff, training for Teaching Assistants acting as Readers and Scribes, Invigilators overseeing exams, SENCos and Examination Officers organising support during the exam period, as well as Access Arrangements Assessors and Educational Psychologists assessing students. Our training for Language Modifiers is run jointly with the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and offers accreditation for successful delegates. Our other courses include input on a wide variety of subjects related to the support of students with special educational needs including Dyslexia, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyscalculia and Behavioural Difficulties. We offer training for Access Arrangements Assessors including courses recognised by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee for core CPD when updating SpLD Assessment Practising Certificates. We are also passionate about raising funds for charitable projects which support educational opportunities, particularly for those caught in poverty in the UK and overseas. To date we have been able to donate over £865,000 to a variety of causes.

Howard was born in Hull in 1946 and began training under Chee Soo in 1973. He has been an instructor of Tai Chi Chuan and Feng Shou Kung Fu since 1976 and is the holder of 7th Tengchi Master Graded in both Tai Chi and Feng Shou (Kung Fu) and 3rd Tengchi in Chi Shu. He lives with his wife, artist Gisela, in Holme On Spalding Moor, East Yorkshire. Howard’s early fascination for these arts soon grew into a life-time vocation, realizing that they went beyond a purely physical discipline, but was also a tool for self-development, spiritual growth, and a way of helping himself and others to achieve holistic health and well-being. Extremely proficient in the Feng Shou self defence arts, Howard nevertheless felt a special love for the various forms, K’ai Men and Dao Yin. In fact he is famous for being Chee Soo’s only instructor who practised the Tai Chi form every morning, with the exception of Christmas Day, for 15 years! (And he is still practising with an odd exception, on a daily basis! Chee Soo had hundreds, perhaps thousands of students who entered his training halls through the years, but in the end there were only four in the country who stayed long enough to gain the highest Master Grade Chee Soo issued in his life time. One of those students was Howard, respected by his peers as the foremost authority on the Lee Family Tai Chi form. Howard’s and Chee Soo’s friendship was legendary and it is a privilege for those who today train under Howard to be shown an art so ancient, taught as he was taught, undiluted by fads and fashions, imbued with love, enthusiasm, precision and quality. Chee Soo passed away in 1994. In order to safeguard the continuation of the Arts and their philosophy, Howard founded the East-West Taoist Association in 1999. Naturopathy Health Therapy Massages Tao Training Cupping Retreat In my work, I combine classic methods of naturopathy with nutritional medicine, spinal therapy according to Dorn, body work and energetic healing work to create a holistic approach. At the same time, I pass on my 20 years of experience in seminars and training courses. As the head and initiator, I have been leading the Institute for Health and Consciousness for 15 years. In addition to the diverse activities in my practice, I give seminars and fasting courses at home and abroad and train in various areas. The Broken Spoke is a not-for-profit social enterprise started by people who are really passionate about cycling, and we provide open workshop support, mechanics courses, cycle training, women’s and transgender people only mechanics sessions, and a hub of information for people who cycle (or really want to). We partner with local community organisations, school groups, and individuals with the goal of making people more proficient and confident in cycle maintenance and riding. Since February 2018, Broken Spoke has been registered as a Community Benefit Society with charitable objectives and we are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under number 31918R as Broken Spoke Bicycles Limited. Some history Broke Spoke was founded in June 2012. From the beginning the founders have been working closely with the Cooperative Enterprise Hub for advice and training. Thanks to their assistance and support, Broken Spoke became a fully fledged not-for-profit Industrial and Provident Society Multistakeholder Co-operative in December 2012. (Phew, that’s a mouthful…) On 10 October 2016, we updated our registration in line with the current legislation and were then called a ‘registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014’. (…not sure if that made it easier?) In 2017 we decided that the Community Benefit Society model is actually a better fit with the purpose and objectives of Broken Spoke. On 12 February 2018 we registered the amendment of our rules and thereby transitioned to being a Community Benefit Society, still registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. We are also still dedicated to adhering to the co-operative principles and are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity.
