Bodywork Company Dance Studios was founded in 1981 by Theresa and Patrick Kerr, who were leading professionals in the world of dance and music. The school grew from a series of classes taught in and around Cambridge as well as a professional touring company, the Bodywork Dance Company. Theresa was also teaching jazz for major performing arts colleges in London and Patrick was touring with the jazz company.

Colours of Dance was established in Cambridge in 2010 by Imogen Knight, who initially offered ballet, tap and modern classes in Fulbourn and Great Wilbraham. Miss Imogen went on to settle the school into a 'home' of Cambridge Dance Studios in 2012. Joined now by nine other teachers, (see Teachers - Bios), Colours of Dance offers classes for all ages and abilities in Ballet, Tap, Streetdance, Modern & Contemporary, as well as Pilates (see Classes - By Type). We are very proud of our growing school, of the joy in the room at show time, of the results our students achieve in exams, and of our growing band of talented alumni who have gone onto vocational training at some of the foremost dance schools in the country. Colours of Dance has had to pause classes in Great Wilbraham during Covid, but hopefully we will return. However, we remain deeply committed to keeping up an outreach programme from the Studios, and as part of this, we work closely with several local schools, assisting with their own provision of dance classes & clubs, as well as running classes from their premises. The Cambridge Dance Studiostudio-1-rev.jpgs have proper dance floors and full-length mirrors, and provide a professional-standard dance environment for all our students - every week! Through the recruitment of and cooperation with other teaching and dance professionals, we have developed a busy and friendly dance community. footloose.jpg At Colours of Dance, we love teaching dance to all ages, from 2 through to adult. We believe that all dance classes should be taught safely by qualified, inspiring, dedicated and experienced professionals who work together as a team to nurture, support and develop all our students, so that our classes are appropriately challenging, fun and creative. We love working with students who come once a week equally as much as those who would like to come more often and perhaps work towards exams or a career in dance. Led by our Principal, we also nurture young or aspiring teachers, supporting and mentoring them while they undertake training to achieve national qualifications and teacher registration. Kids should be taught same tools adult professional actors and musicians work with an atmosphere of relaxed, positive, reinforcement. They do not need short term performance tricks, or tips on booking a commercial. We want our students to develop a solid technique and a love for the crafts of music and acting that they can use for however long, and in whatever way, they continue to act. They are encouraged to reach for high standards and their personal best! And we want them to have FUN!

He got involved with music at young age and he is now working in London as a professional musician and a freelance bassist, after graduating from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Over the last years, he has performed live at many different venues in venues in London such as the 100 Club, The Borderline, the O2 Kentish Town, the O2 Academy Islington, the Tramp Members Club, the Albert’s Members Club and many more. By recording and playing with many artists he became able to adapt in a variety of different styles of music. Most recently he had the opportunity to work with well known music producers/engineers such as Sam Miller (Paloma Faith, Christina Aguilera, PJ Harvey, The Temperance Movement, One Direction, Razorlight, The Magic Numbers) and Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode, The Cure, Paul McCartney, George Best, Laura Pausini) and to perform next to great musicians such as the session guitarist Joon Switon (The Roots, Compton, Les Nubians, Ayo, Eric Roberson and more), the L.A. based jazz singer Tricia Tahara (Patrice Rushen, Alphonso Johnson, Lenny White, Nungu Chancler), percussionist João Caetano (Incognito, Chaka Khan, Mario Biondi, Omar, PB Underground) and guitarist Tolis Zavaliaris (Pete Lockett, Laurence Cottle, Neil Angilley, Vanessa Mae). In addition, he also had the chance to open for artists such as LP, Steve Cradock (Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene) and Finley Quaye. He is now continuing to work in London as a professional musician and his aim is to become a versatile bassist and to gain as much experience as possible.
