The Broken Spoke is a not-for-profit social enterprise started by people who are really passionate about cycling, and we provide open workshop support, mechanics courses, cycle training, women’s and transgender people only mechanics sessions, and a hub of information for people who cycle (or really want to). We partner with local community organisations, school groups, and individuals with the goal of making people more proficient and confident in cycle maintenance and riding. Since February 2018, Broken Spoke has been registered as a Community Benefit Society with charitable objectives and we are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under number 31918R as Broken Spoke Bicycles Limited. Some history Broke Spoke was founded in June 2012. From the beginning the founders have been working closely with the Cooperative Enterprise Hub for advice and training. Thanks to their assistance and support, Broken Spoke became a fully fledged not-for-profit Industrial and Provident Society Multistakeholder Co-operative in December 2012. (Phew, that’s a mouthful…) On 10 October 2016, we updated our registration in line with the current legislation and were then called a ‘registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014’. (…not sure if that made it easier?) In 2017 we decided that the Community Benefit Society model is actually a better fit with the purpose and objectives of Broken Spoke. On 12 February 2018 we registered the amendment of our rules and thereby transitioned to being a Community Benefit Society, still registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. We are also still dedicated to adhering to the co-operative principles and are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity.

Maritime Quarter

Mission Gallery is one of the most inspiring spaces in Wales for the contemporary arts. A unique, architecturally beautiful space, the building is a rich resource for the local and wider community providing artists at all levels and experience, opportunities to display and make work while developing our audiences enjoyment, understanding and knowledge of art. Founded by artists in 1977 as ‘Swansea Arts Workshop Gallery’, Mission Gallery has since developed a national and international reputation for presenting dynamic and distinctive programming. Boasting a proud forty year history of delivery and a strong reputation for supporting and nurturing artists, Mission Gallery has taken artistic risks; showing ambitious, diverse work by established and emerging artists across all disciplines, from Wales and beyond. Mission Gallery has a thriving Learning and Participation Programme aimed at all ages and abilities, building strong and meaningful cultural partnerships within artistic and education institutions. Mission Gallery is proud of the important collaborations, projects and exchanges developed with cultural organisations in New York and Venice, building our international work through programming, partnerships and residencies . Housed in a Grade II listed building in Swansea’s Maritime Quarter, Mission Gallery began its existence as a voluntary artist run body, evolving into a professional organisation funded by Arts Council of Wales in 2003. Governed by a voluntary board of directors, the management, programming and running is maintained by a small and dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Mission Gallery has a long track record of successfully forging meaningful and sustainable partnerships across the city, in particular with Swansea College of Art who are key partners.

Our mission is to improve their physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing, giving them a better everyday life by providing the following services: Conferences: We aim to provide an avenue where women can have time for rest, relaxation, reflection, peer support through the heart to heart sessions, spiritual refreshing and sharing of personal experiences. Motivational speaker: Guest speakers aim to inspire women to make positive lifestyle changes to enrich and strengthen their Christian walk. Workshop: The workshops will provide an area for networking, discussion and reflection. Outreach: The outreach programmes will provide the tools to support women in building their self-esteem, confidence and self-worth as they embark on a journey of wholeness. Fund raising activities: WOTFLM strives to achieve self sufficiency and sustainability.

Rua Red is a contemporary art space housing two galleries, a theatre/cinema, a dance studio, a conference room, a digital media suite, recording facilities, music rooms, workshop areas, artist’s studios, office space and a café. Rua Red exhibit the work of established Irish and International artists who are committed to producing work within a socio political framework. The education programme reflects the organisations interests with place, politics and people through a challenging programme of events, workshops, screenings and performances that allow audiences and visitors to engage with the exhibitions through the mediums of music, dance, theatre and visual art. In addition to Rua Red’s programme the organisation also houses and works alongside a number of independent creative organisations and individuals through the provision of office spaces. Rua Red also provide subsidised artist studios which practising artists can hire at a subsidised rate for 1-3 years.

coppicewood college

Our Aim Coppicewood College is a charity that promotes sustainable woodland management. We run a range of courses including coppicing, hedge-laying and craft, in the SSSI woodland in Pengelli, Pembrokeshire owned by the South and West Wales Wildlife Trust, with whom we have become partners. Our working principle is to use traditional tools and methods together with a number of new techniques we have developed ourselves ensuring that we continue to manage in the most sustainable way possible. For example, the use of fire is strictly limited to charcoal making and keeping the workshop warm. We particularly want to show students how to restore neglected woodland back to use as productive coppice. We endeavour to keep our courses as affordable as possible and, when we are able, we offer bursaries to deserving cases. As we are a charity we encourage donations to help us support our students and Instructors.

Rhomberg Sersa Ireland is one of the latest additions to the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group family, something we’re very proud of! Based in scenic County Kildare, we have a team of 60 colleagues working with Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail to deliver tamping, ballast regulating, ballast cleaning and other On Track Machine operations. Rhomberg Sersa Ireland Something that’s unique for a RSRG company is that we operate a fleet of OTMs that are the property of the infrastructure owner, and these machines are maintained by us at a client owned workshop. This is a new, less capital intensive, exciting business model within the Group. We operate on the Iarnród Éireann / Irish Rail network under our own Safety Case and we are licensed by the Irish Commission for Railway Regulation. We work closely with RSRG sister companies to offer a full range of rail services in Ireland.

Now, more than ever, Green Shoes is a radical shoemaking business. We make footwear on a small scale, by hand, in our Devon workshop, using skills learnt and passed on through decades. We endeavour to keep our environmental impact low by making our footwear long-lasting and repairable. All footwear is handmade to order in full and half sizes from UK 2- 12, in four different width fittings. We make our high boots in three leg widths. We also have a stock of standard sized shoes in our shop. We work from foot drawings that can be drawn by us in the shop, or sent to us in the post. These are used to establish which size to make, therefore the size you select online is only a guide for our shoemakers. As each pair of shoes is made to order, please allow for making time.
