Brigstowe’s HIV Awareness Training empowers professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to work confidently with people living with, affected by or at risk of HIV. Our HIV Awareness Training is open to all professionals; from front-line support staff, managers or HR personnel. We have experience in delivering to a range of professionals including: social workers, medics, Avon & Somerset Police, prison staff, mental health care providers, housing associations and other voluntary organisations. We tailor the training to meet the needs of your organisation or business.  We will usually cover: * HIV prevention and transmission. * Clarify the definitions and differences between HIV & AIDS. * Provide up-to-date information on treatment. * Explore stigma and prejudice. * Explain testing services. * Promote best practice when working with a person living or affected by HIV. * Inform participants of support available. Cathy is based in Suffolk, but travels widely across the UK and internationally with Awareness Matters running commissioned workshops and training for multi-agency professionals, counsellors/psychotherapists, from both statutory and voluntary organisations on issues related to domestic violence & abuse. Cathy has 24 years experience as a therapist and is a registered MBACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy adhering to the BACP Code of Ethics. Cathy values working therapeutically with both clients and supervisees and enjoys the unique learning process that therapy provides. Cathy has a particular interest in the traumatic impact of domestic and sexual abuse. Cathy is Chair of Trustees for the charity Compassion – addressing domestic abuse and providing long term support to victims and families. Cathy has managed various specialist therapeutic service provisions including Southend Women’s Aid, SOS Domestic Abuse Projects and Lighthouse Women’s Aid, Ipswich. For many years Cathy sat on the DV Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel addressing domestic abuse prosecutions for the Suffolk Crown Prosecution Service and continues to provide consultancy for organisations. Cathy is enthusiastic and passionate about her work in the arena of domestic abuse, but when not working Cathy enjoys time with her family, walking, gardening, travel and catching up with friends.

Frustrated by existing awareness training that seeks to convince corporations that queer people belong in a faulty system, rather than demanding meaningful change, our bespoke workshops and expert consultancy brings together gender studies, philosophy, racial justice and the law to educate, inspire and give our clients the tools to create positive change. Our clients are disrupters, influencers and architects of change, passionate about trans and non-binary liberation and are unafraid to use their voice to make a difference. Breaking Binaries is lead by Finn Grice (He/They), a proudly queer, trans masculine LGBTQA+ sector expert, advocate and policy researcher, who has been disrupting the status quo from an early age, leading his peers to use their voices to create change.
