Cobra Foundation is an independent charity, founded in 2005 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Cobra Beer Ltd. Registered in the United Kingdom, our mission is to provide health, education and community support for young people in South Asia, especially through the provision of safe water. Our charitable objectives include giving help with Disaster Relief in the Region. The Foundation has supported more than 200 charities and good causes, either with financial grants or the provision of complimentary Cobra beer for fundraising events. In close partnership with Belu we contribute funds each year to WaterAid. There were generous responses to our appeals for funds for relief from Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh in 2007; the Bihar floods in India in 2008, the widespread floods in Pakistan in 2010, the earthquakes in Nepal in 2017 and the cyclone in Tamil Nadu, India in 2018. It is certain that natural or man-made disasters will strike in the future and we will again play our part. The logo of Cobra Foundation is a mother elephant with her offspring and it reminds us never to forget those in need.

Youth Resilience UK is a community interest company that aims to use a restorative approach to help young people build resilience by understanding their relationships, their choices and how they fit in to the world they live in. We understand that schools especially, are facing increasing pressure on their budgets and that the two main barriers to restorative approaches are time and money. With this in mind we hope to work alongside national and local funding bodies to create unique pathways for schools to access funding support to help underpin the restorative approaches we offer. We believe that once young people begin to; understand the impact of their actions, take responsibility for their choices and develop the tools to be able to repair harm and conflict, they build emotional and behavioural resilience and make positive choices going forward on their path. At Youth Resilience UK CIC we recognise the need to support those working with young people as they face the pressures of modern families, social media, diverse cultures, lack of services and funding. All these issues have the potential to continue to shift the way we support the development of this and future generations. Young people have more choices, a greater voice, access to an instant world at their fingertips, but many of our most challenging young people have fewer skills at their disposal to help them navigate this new territory.

Kids love our after school clubs. Parents do too. At Trinity After School Club we are proud of the exciting and stimulating childcare we offer. We understand each child is different and that they want to get involved in different things. Every day there are planned arts and crafts activities, outdoor games, and quiet time for reading or to do homework. All the children get involved in planning the activities and outings at the after school clubs. They bring new ideas or develop initiatives suggested by the staff. The kids make sure we do interesting things and get involved in the community – from a tooth brushing project, writing a song and a performance on anti-bullying to building relationships with a local elderly residential care home. We make sure there is plenty of variety. Our experienced staff encourage an all-inclusive environment where consideration for others is paramount. Policies and procedures are in place to cover all aspects of childcare to reassure parents and guardians that we have their children's interests at heart. Flexibility of care is important to parents and guardians and we offer full-time (5 days per week) and part-time places (2, 3 or 4 days per week), and we operate a Crocodile Club for P1 and P2 children who finish earlier. We cover most holidays and in-service days and our team plan ahead with the children to offer a great range of holiday activities.

The ATC is a community based uniformed organisation for people between the ages of 13 and 20. The aims of the ATC are to: Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship We are not a recruiting organisation for the RAF but if you're thinking about a Service career, cadet membership will put you ahead of the competition. Many cadets go on to great success in the RAF. Around 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew in the RAF now are ex-cadets. Research shows that they do better in basic training and stay in the Service longer than their colleagues. Likewise, if you chose a civilian career research proves you can go on the great things...employers just love the skills and experience that air cadets offer. The cadet structure is based on the rank structure used within the RAF, being promoted shows your leadership abilities and gives you more responsibilities. We also have a full training scheme that can lead to real qualifications, this is mainly geared towards aviation studies, but a full range of qualifications is available. The next Show was held on 4th September 1948 in Busby Primary School, establishing the tradition of holding the Annual Flower Show on the first Saturday in September. Membership was around 250, not dissimilar to what we have today The Society continued to meet alternatively in Busby East & West Church Halls. Whist drives, bulb shows, summer outings and dances were very popular, taking their place in the programme alongside the Annual Flower Show and the winter lectures It proved to be a very successful organisation and flourished over the succeeding years. A move was made to Clarkston in 1962 with the name Clarkston added and Clarkston Halls used as a base During its life, the Society has progressed and is now an established entity in the community, supported by local residents and businesses. Links have been forged with like-minded local and national groups through the Scottish Gardeners Forum The Committee numbers fifteen and we are always looking to encourage younger members to get involved A booklet commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Society has been published incorporating local historian, John McVicar’s exciting insight into the foundations of the current Society. You will be as amazed as we were to read that The Busby Horticultural Society was founded in 1881 and mounted its first show in Wilson’s Hall at the end of August 1882 1947-2007 The First Sixty Years is available from the Society.

Mastery: Developing thinking from just simply understanding to expertise; students grow to be able to think creatively about problems and demonstrate a fluency of skills to apply in any context. They are ambitious and committed to their learning. Character: We expect far more from our students than just academic success. They will be confident and resilient and importantly, they will do the right thing, even when no one is looking. Perspective: Students get to experience life beyond the classroom and how they might fit into the wider world around them. Woodwork and design have been lifelong interests of mine. My introduction to woodwork was with my father in his workshop at home. I studied woodwork, together with metalwork with Ted Mills in Maidstone and had regular lessons from Chris Hoad our local village carpenter in Marden, Kent. Woodwork runs in the family, I inherited my great grandfather’s tools and the workbench – a number of which which I use. I draw inspiration from many sources: the Design Museum is a particular favourite, but skilled work is all around. Recently I took part in a ‘Build a Tiny House’ course at the Centre for Alternative Technology. Their commitment to sustainable living is particularly important for me.I attend courses, exhibitions and trade shows regularly to keep up with the latest trends and developments. I established WoodWorks in September 2016. Our approach is practical, and we put our clients’ priorities first – be they design, practicalilty, affordability, aesthetic or sustainability. Wood is a wonderful material, flexible, strong and incredibly versatile. Most things are possible. If you’ve got a project in mind and want to find out whether and how it will work, I’d be happy to talk it over with you. In September 2020 I established Woodworks Learn, the teaching arm of the business. This was long an ambition of mine, using my background in teaching, coaching and informal community learning. I find immense pleasure helping people to develop their skills and to complete projects.
