It is the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK)'s purpose to enhance communities, so everyone can enjoy being in, on and around water, safely; because every life is worth saving. Our work is vital in every city, town, community and home. RLSS UK has a proud history of helping to save the number of lives lost to drowning. Our mission is to be the leader in lifesaving and lifeguarding in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Sharing, our expertise and knowledge with as many people as possible, giving everyone the potential to save lives and enjoy water, safely. Here, at the RLSS UK, we have an impressive heritage. We have built up years of experience and, we are honoured, to boast a strong force of loyal members and volunteers who work with us to promote water safety and educate in life saving skills. Our roots were established back in 1891 as the Life Saving Society, and, in the early 1900s, with support from the Royal Family, we were granted permission to adopt the ‘Royal’ to our title – a badge that we are still immensely proud of today. We have used our extensive, world-leading knowledge of water safety and training to develop a comprehensive range of vocational qualifications and a series of awards and education programmes which all have the ultimate aim of preventing drowning and stopping unnecessary loss of life. Our portfolio includes the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) - the premier lifeguard training programme.

Lancaster Royal Grammar School is a top day and boarding grammar school. There are 1250 pupils at the school, including 165 boarders and a thriving sixth form of 350 students. Our Sixth Form is coeducational, and we welcomed Sixth Form girls as boarders from September 2020. The Engineering Biology Interdisciplinary Research Centre provides a hub for anyone interested in Engineering Biology at the University of Cambridge, including researchers, commercial partners and external collaborators. Engineering Biology is an emerging field which applies engineering principles to the design and modification of living systems. The University of Cambridge has been an important and early contributor in this area. The Engineering Biology Interdisciplinary Research Centre was established in 2013 with the support of the Schools of Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences and Technology to bring together related activities across the university and within the community. Academic leadership of the IRC is provided by the Steering Committee, and supported by the IRC Coordinator who works with researchers and external partners to implement IRC activities. The major aims of the IRC are to: Provide a hub of interdisciplinary exchange for all those interested in Synthetic and Engineering Biology at the University of Cambridge, from researchers and students to industrial partners and policy makers. Promote interdisciplinary collaborations across the University through regular events and seed funding competitions. Facilitate funding applications in the field of Synthetic and Engineering Biology Initiate academic-industrial partnerships across the IRC Research Themes. Explore open technologies for innovation, widening participation in novel IP practices and business models for tools related to Synthetic and Engineering Biology. Explore the wider social context of GM technologies at the local and global level, particularly responsible innovation for sustainability and conservation.

Our key aims for the children and young people taking part are to improve behaviour and their social interaction skills, whilst enhancing educational engagement. Also to enhance interaction within the local community, by tackling social isolation, low self-esteem and depression. Professional Team... At Dogs for Development, we are trained professionals who facilitate canine assisted therapy sessions, encouraging dogs and pupils to work and play together, to build a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. Oxfordshire Chinese Brush Painting Group (OCBPG) was set up about 6 years ago by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to learn more about this fascinating art form, and practise their developing skills together. The aim of the group is to promote Chinese Brush Painting in all its’ forms. We do this by meeting regularly, holding workshops, talks and visits and organising exhibitions of members’ work. In addition, we organise a programme of day workshops from experienced Chinese Brush Painting tutors throughout the year. In 2018 and 2019, we held one day Workshops, including one with the international artist, Qu Leilei, one of the original members of the Stars Art Movement in China in the 1970’s and 80’s. In 2018, we began exhibiting our work and have several exhibitions planned in the future. We hold regular monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month from 1pm to 4pm in the excellent facilities of Stanton Harcourt Village Hall. Here, you can get support from friendly like-minded people, borrow books from our excellent Library, and, we are beginning to stock some basic Chinese Art Supplies for members to buy at cost. We are a warm and welcoming community and you are more than welcome to contact us if you would like to try out this beautiful art form, or if you are a more experienced painter and want to share your skills and learning with others

David Simon is an author and educationalist. He is the author of the Genius series that includes the best-selling books How to Unlock Your Child’s Genius and How to Unlock Your Genius Using Black History. He co-founded Simon Education in 1987 which has gone on to support over 6000 African-Caribbean families in the UK. He has won numerous awards as an educationalist and a novelist/poet, including the Peterloo Poetry Award. He is also the founder of Black Book Festival, an annual event to promote Black writers globally. David’s other publications includes: Secrets of the Sapodilla (1986), the play Mountaintop (1987) which was nominated for the London Fringe Awards, the novels Garvey’s Last Soldier (1999) and Pastor Pastor (2019). The company currently runs a publishing house, an online school and provides teacher-training to schools in Africa and the Caribbean. Leonora Simon-Bleasdille has worked as a scientist for over 35 years and taught students at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She co-founded Ebony Supplementary Saturday School, now Simon Education, where I taught English, mathematics, science, and Black history for over 35 years. Nneb Akpom-Simon has worked in supplementary education for 30 years; tutoring and coaching children, young people and parents. She is also an equalities specialist and has worked in Higher education for over three decades. Simon Education (Ebony Education Community Interest Company) is a registered company.
