Whether you want to join a team, coach a team or officiate a sport we’ve got something for everyone. The range of sessions and leagues at our centres means we have something for you. For the beginner and those getting back into sport, you can join come ‘n’ try sessions. For those ready to play straight away we have two options; individual players can join new or existing teams, or, new teams can be entered into our leagues within 2 or 3 weeks. With our extensive network of community clubs there are opportunities to volunteer and coach in sport. Want to take control of the court and referee or umpire? Sign up now if you are a qualified official or attend one of our sports governing body led courses. CHILD WELFARE SFAC provides safe environments for children to be a part of regular sports participation. FACILITIES SFAC operates and maintains good quality competition standard sports facilities PATHWAYS SFAC establishes and maintains pathways for players, volunteers, officials and coaches. SUSTAINABILITY SFAC is a self-sustainable business model for delivery mass participation sports programmes.

I’m an artist based in Birmingham with a great love for all things creative. From a young age, creating has been therapeutic for me, giving an outlet and response to the changing world around me. In my late teens I took a traditional route studying Fine Art, going on to use my skills to support communities and people of all ages. This included working with play schemes and youth groups, bringing as many creative experiences as I could – despite incredibly low budgets! Over the years I developed a passion for mosaic and began to specialise in creating large scale mosaic installations, initially within educational and community environments. What I love about mosaic is its accessibility for all, and the collaboration and teamwork it brings. As a process I enjoy watching people’s confidence grow, the relationships built along the way and the pride shared in the finished product of a permanent installation on a wall or in the ground that the whole community can enjoy & share. I love that my work becomes part of a shared history for those that have worked on it, been part of the commissioning process and have inspired it. I consider myself a visual storyteller and enjoy helping others to share their stories in a unique and engaging way. I love exploring new places, meeting new people and creating bespoke and site-specific artworks. I relish the challenge of meeting a client’s brief, whatever that may be and have vast experience working with a wide range of clients over the years, working creatively in many differing environments. Throughout my career I have explored other media and methods within my commissions, moving from a purely handmade traditional approach, to incorporating digital media and new technologies. This fresh approach has expanded my vision of what can be achieved in my public artworks allowing me to widen my practice and include other mediums. It has also equipped me with new skills that I enjoy sharing through public participation and my ability to offer a wider scope of media in my response to the needs of commissioners. I’m excited to further this innovative approach and as a member of the Crafts Council and STEAMhouse Birmingham, I look forward to continuing to explore my digital and technological skills in the future. Each commission excites me and is a new adventure and I pride myself in delivering high quality permanent artworks, delivered on time and within budget. Liverpool Black History Research Group is a collective of community led researchers investigating and raising awareness of Liverpool’s long black presence. The important contribution of people of African descent to Liverpool’s development has gone largely unacknowledged and we are committed to revealing this forgotten history. We adopted the Sankofa bird as a part of our logo, substituting it for one of the two Liver birds, which top the iconic Liver building on Liverpool’s waterfront. The Liver bird is widely accepted as the emblem of Liverpool. The Sankofa is a mythical creature that flies forwards, while looking backwards, with an egg (symbolising the future) in its mouth. It is an Akan symbol of the people of modern day Ghana and is associated with a proverb ‘Sankofa w’onkyir’ which translates as “it is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten” The group is led by local historian and PhD student, Laurence Westgaph. Its purpose is to share historical knowledge and offer instruction in research skills and techniques, providing learning, training and employment opportunities for the people of Liverpool. Liverpool Black History Research Group is registered as a not for profit business, based at the Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre.

Our unique projects, events and activities tackle the intersection of art, academia and action in order to challenge the mainstream rhetoric on migration. Aims and objectives Underpinning our work is the idea that human rights are relational and therefore, must be participated in and shared to be realised. This means we focus on inclusion - what is shared between rather than what separates people - and a new rights-based approach to migration.
