I have been practising yoga since 2001 and Qigong since 2017. My practice includes pranayama, yoga nidra, seasonal flow, vinyasa flow, yin and qigong. All practices have influenced my physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and have been life changing. I am passionate about creating opportunities for others to experience the benefits yoga and qigong can bring. My journey has been strongly influenced by the instruction and support I have received from the teachers who have inspired me and whose encouragement ultimately led me to train as a teacher. My teaching journey started with teaching children yoga; having always enjoyed working with children and holding a firm belief in making things better and easier for them, it seemed natural to combine two of my passions – yoga and children. If only I had known then how simple breathing activities could help calm my mind and balancing as a tree could help focus my mind…..perhaps exams wouldn’t have been so stressful and bullying not been so distressing. I now teach all age groups from babies to teens and adults, including children with additional needs. My classes are influenced by the styles of yoga I have practised over the years and the teachers who have inspired me. I teach from the heart and with a sense of humour. I believe yoga is creative, fun and educational, suitable for all ages and capabilities. Yoga gives us the understanding and practical applications to be the best people we can be and to live by our values; it is an honour to have this practice in my life. I am a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher, completing my 200 hours with Seasonal Yoga Academy in Glasgow. I trained with Birthlight to teach babies and toddlers, and holds certifications in children’s yoga with Breathe and Be You, and yoga for additional needs, completed with Special Yoga. Grammar school entrance exam preparation plays a major role in the business, including Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning, mock exams, etc. John Cashin says: “Although many parents enrol their children for tuition in either Yr. 4 or 5, it really is never too early to begin and I am delighted when parents of younger children enrol them for tuition. This is because almost all children develop gaps in their understanding of school work which, if not promptly addressed, can grow year-on-year into more significant problems. I see many children who, had they been brought to me for tutoring at an earlier stage in their education, could have achieved so much more. The good news is that, if these problems are “nipped in the bud,” they can invariably be eliminated, giving the child a distinct advantage. Also, a good understanding of the curriculum can play an important role in alleviating frustrations which, if left unaddressed, often give rise to behavioural problems. There is no substitute for personal time spent with an experienced tutor. The children appreciate the opportunity to ask me about things they have not grasped at school and their confidence, ability and enthusiasm increases exponentially as they see the benefits for themselves. Whatever a child’s level of ability, it can be reinforced and developed – and we really do see some very rewarding transformations. Even if your child attends a private prep school, this is no guarantee of success and you would be well advised to seek the services of a good tutor. For example, the father of a Yr. 4 boy who attends one such school, remarked to me recently, after attending parents’ evening at his son’s school: “Looking at his school books, you can draw a line at the point when he started at John Cashin Tuition – the improvement is that evident!” This is typical of the comments we receive from parents.

Originally starting with a few evening and Saturday classes for visitors and au-pairs working with families in the Reading area, within a year the demand for lessons grew to cover the mornings, afternoons and evenings every day. To meet this increased demand, we soon assembled a group of competent, friendly teachers and thus the ranks of loyal and successful students grew as we expanded and even began arranging activities and tours for them. Over this time Eurospeak continued to build up its reputation by employing good teachers, having reasonable prices, having a friendly helpful atmosphere and organising activities of interest to the students. As the demand grew beyond lessons for immigrants residing in the UK, the college began to support students who needed student visas and in the space of just 4 years, Eurospeak became an international college that welcomed students from all over the world. This meant that a full-time schedule was developed so that students could be accommodated for the required 15 hours or more of tuition each week. In time, as student numbers grew, so did the need for more teachers. During this period, we also started entering our students for the Cambridge ESOL exams and by 1998 we had become a national exam centre recognised by Cambridge University.
