LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, NON-FICTION Hannah joined the publishing industry in 2017 after a degree in German & Spanish and a Masters in Translation Studies, with a passion for literary translation. After two years scouting for international publishers and production companies, she then spent four years at Northbank Talent Management, where she represented a wide range of authors including Phoebe Luckhurst, Rebecca Ryan, Marion Todd, Nina Millns and Jonathan Whitelaw. After a year as acting Head of Media Rights at Penguin Random House UK, Hannah joined Watson, Little as Literary and Book-to-Screen Agent in 2024. In fiction, Hannah is looking for excellent writing which marries a strong voice with a compelling plot, across a range of genres. She loves ambitious stories that take her to unexpected places – either in style or setting – particularly if they sit in that upmarket-literary crossover space. She feels just as immersed in an intimate coming-of-age novel as in an incisive family drama or darkly funny psychological thriller, particularly where there’s a fresh approach or something to say about the world we live in. Some of her recent favourites have included Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey, Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson, The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn, and Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. Please note that she is not the right agent for sci-fi, fantasy, action thrillers, YA or children’s books. She is also looking for narrative non-fiction with a beautiful voice and new insight into an experience or place, and is particularly interested in nature writing, memoir, and literary ways into genres such as true crime, history or the environment. Over the years, she’s loved The Salt Path by Raynor Winn, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Seven Signs of Life by Aoife Abbey and The Panic Years by Nell Frizzell. Hannah would like you to submit your fiction as a covering letter, 1-2 page synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your manuscript in a single word document.  For non-fiction, she would like to see:- 1-page synopsis – to give an overview of what the book will offer the reader and how it's different from other books out there on this topic A detailed proposed contents list, including proposed sub-section headings as well as chapter headings – to give a sense of the overall reader journey (this is not included in the word count) (In addition to the paid sessions, Hannah is kindly offering one free session for low income/underrepresented writers. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) formerly known as PTLLS, has been designed to introduce teaching for individuals who aspire or currently work in adult education. This includes FE colleges, training providers, workplace training departments and/or Local Authorities. It is a nationally recognised qualification and is also often the preference for employers to source as an accredited train-the-trainer qualification. This qualification includes written assignments and a practical micro-teach session, which can be completed remotely. Online Remote Tutor-led Sessions This version of the course allows you to attend two days of online sessions led by an experienced tutor. Then come back online 2-3 weeks later to deliver your micro-teach session to your peers. Use this gap in time to prepare your micro-teach and complete the written work for the qualification. This allows you to fully complete in as little as 2-3 weeks. The micro-teach date is flexible and you can also enrol for self-study learning if preferred.

She won the RNA Literary Agent of the Year award in 2018.  She represents commercial and reading group fiction, as well as a range of narrative non-fiction and memoir. She loves working with authors, championing them every step of the way, and works with them and their publishing teams to build them into brand names and award winning and bestselling authors in the UK and internationally. Whether commercial or reading-group, she loves innovative and well-written stories that hook her in from the start and whose voice stays with her. She is looking for novels that demand to be talked about and shared, whatever their genre, and that she is still thinking about days after finishing.  She is on the hunt for a high-concept thriller which is character and plot driven, but also has a discussable issue at its heart i.e Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey and Girl A by Abigail Dean. She love thrillers where the location is as integral to the plot as the crime i.e The Dry by Jane Harper and The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse, and would love a good locked-room thriller but is only looking for fresh and unique ideas in this area.  She is also on the hunt for a glorious book club love story that is doing something a bit different and special i.e Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus or anything by Taylor Jenkins Reid or Liane Moriarty! Or smart, contemporary, observant romcoms with a very strong emphasis on diverse / own voices.  Finally, she would love a historical that vividly brings that period to life as well as having a stunning plot i.e, The Familiars by Stacey Halls and The Doll Factory by Elizabeth MacNeal.
