The Surrey School of Reflexology is an affiliated school of the Professional Reflexology Association. All reflexology courses, including CPD, are accredited with the International Federation of Reflexologists. Previously known as the European School of Healing and Complementary Medicine, we relaunched ourselves twelve years ago and now offer much more of what we are best at – training Reflexologists and providing Postgraduate Workshops and short Courses. Referred to as CPD, these trainings are not only for Reflexologists but all Professionals of Complementary Therapy. Established in 1995, Reflexologists have graduated from our school with our recognised qualification for 27 years and are now working in many different establishments including the NHS, and also in countries around the world. Once qualified from this school you will be able to work as a professional reflexologist in any position offered and in any country where reflexology is legal. The school is run by Nina Pearson who is the Principal. She has been a qualified, practicing, Reflexologist for over 30 years and is a Fellow of the International Federation of Reflexologists, Member of the Professional Reflexology Association, and has been awarded Lifetime Membership to the Association of Reflexologists. All tutors are established practitioners with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Business studies are taught by a qualified Accountant. Our students are encouraged to attain the highest standards as therapists so that they can work with competence and integrity second to none. We also pride ourselves in being able to support the learning of those with Dyslexic tendencies. Our students are all ages and from all walks of life. The teaching of the courses has been designed with this consideration in mind, and so classes and workshop groups are kept small and informal to allow for individual attention and guidance. We are a “NO FUSS” school – the important bit is the quality of teaching and producing confident well-educated therapists; our prospectus is not fancy and a majority of communication with students is done using email. This means that we can keep the costs of our courses and workshops down. NB………….Complementary Therapy is a HANDS-ON profession and it important that your training is also HANDS-ON. Coming to a class with other students not only provides support from your peer group but direct communication with your tutor and of course that all important guidance with practice of the routine and class discussions. If you did not have a pass last year but wish to have one this year (and you live more than 1.5 miles away from your campus and are studying a substantial course), please see the Bursary team in Programme Management to apply. You will be able to travel on the buses without your pass until you have been given your new ID card during your first week. If it is your first year, you will be issued your FREE Warrington’s Own Buses bus pass at enrolment. The bus pass will be printed as a QR code on your College ID card. Your College ID card is also your bus pass, so you must keep it safe and you will need it with you to access Warrington’s Own Buses services by scanning it on the bus. We provide bespoke training courses on topics concerning imaging, radiation safety and legislation.Training is delivered by a team of experts including RPAsRadiation Physics is made up of Health Physics (MTW), Radiology Physics (EKHUFT) and Nuclear Medicine Physics (MTW and EKHUFT) consists of Medical Physicists and Clinical Technologists specialising in radiation safety and medical imaging. The group works closely with a large number of staff groups within the Trust including radiology, oncology and estates. The group covers a wide range of specialties to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff who come into contact with sources of ionising radiation (eg x-rays, beta rays etc) and non-ionising radiation (eg ultra violet (UV) radiation and lasers etc). In addition the group has vast expertise in medical imaging (X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, MRI and Ultrasound), and undertakes radioisotope therapy administration and some other non-imaging studies in nuclear medicine. Activities Our activities include: Equipment Checks and Quality Assurance Programmes for: All X-ray Equipment (including dental) Ultrasound Equipment UV Nuclear Medicine Equipment Radiation Monitoring Equipment Calibration Service (eg contamination monitors and dose rate meters) Providing RPA and MPE advice for the Trust and many other clients. These include NHS Trusts (Kent Community Health, Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Queen Victoria NHS Foundation Trust), Vets, Educational Establishments and Dentists. Our advice includes local rules, risk assessments, shielding assessments, testing the integrity of shielding etc. Providing LPA advice for the Trust and a wide range of external clients. Providing radioactive waste advice, through our certified RWAs. Organisation of a personal dose monitoring service for all staff likely to be exposed to ionising radiations in the course of their work throughout Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust and other Trusts as necessary. I create a supported, safe space which allows women to devote the time and energy they need for themselves. In a supported space where my clients are given permission to be their true, imperfect, unique selves, free of judgement, blame and expectation. In this space my clients are more effectively able to plot the course to their own happiest life. In being able to truly connect with what we value most we are more able to be brave and be empowered to follow our own unique path to positive change. I have particularly enjoyed my recent work with the UK Armed Forces Spouses in a Personal Development programme I designed for them, as they are not only facing multiple transitions, but also have the added stresses which comes with having a serving spouse. Becoming a coach I hold both a Bachelor of Science Degree with honours (Monash University, Melbourne) and a Graduate Diploma of Environmental Management (Deakin University, Melbourne), I spent over a decade making a difference in the environmental sustainability field in both Australia and the UK. Empowering groups and individuals through facilitation, I made a natural transition to the coaching world, and undertook research into the impact of combining sound facilitation techniques with coaching. I use this very powerful combination to create bespoke group coaching and training programmes for my clients. These programmes alongside one to one coaching inspire my clients to reach their full potential in any direction they choose: career transition, creating space for their own wellbeing, focusing on family or pursuing lifelong goals. My depth of global experience across many sectors such as policy, strategic planning and on the ground action informs my already systemic way of thinking. Wide travels combined with expat experiences on three continents have nurtured my empathy and curiosity. I take every opportunity to be involved in projects that will make a real difference to people’s lives.

Welcome, this my story of how I came to be a Bob Ross instructor. I loved art when I was at school but never found the opportunity to develop this interest. A long career in farming nurtured my love of the countryside and I took enormous pleasure in observing nature; early mornings, sunrises and mists, majestic trees, sparkling sunshine on the water etc. Later in life, as fate would have it, I found myself laid up for 6 weeks after an operation, and with so much time on my hands, I needed an activity – in an attempt to keep me occupied my wife gave me a painting by numbers kit. After that first very basic kit, I had begun to rediscover my love of painting. I rapidly moved on to acrylics then watercolours and then one day I came across Bob Ross on the television and was fascinated by his ‘Wet-on-Wet’ technique of painting with oils. I was amazed at the incredibly professional and delightful paintings which were possible to create in just one sitting and I watched his programmes over and over again. By 2011 I had attended Bob Ross instructor workshops to learn this method of painting for myself. Passionate about sharing this wonderful way of painting with others and discovering I had a natural aptitude for teaching, in 2012 I qualified as a Bob Ross instructor for ‘Wet-on-Wet’ floral techniques and in 2013 returned and qualified in landscape painting. My classes in my studio in Great Glen, Leicestershire, are friendly and relaxed and above all informal. We have fun together, make new friends, gain confidence through learning a new skill and anybody, even someone who has never picked up a brush before can produce a fabulous piece of art over the course of the day to take home and enjoy – a painting to be proud of. I guarantee you’ll have a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience.
