ROXCOOL is a professional instructional business based in and around the North East of England but we are often found working in North Yorkshire, The Peak District, Scotland and our favourite place in the whole world The Lake District. We specialise in climbing and mountaineering courses but also offer opportunities for adventures through guided and fun activities using our team of professionals. We were established in January 2009 and since then the company has not only survived but has prospered. We are very proud of the fact that we are the only Mountain Training course provider in the North East of England, offering all of their climbing instructor and walking leadership courses. We pride ourselves on giving satisfaction and so far all our feedback on both Facebook and TripAdvisor has been 5 * and positive. We also offer technical self-improvement courses relating to safe systems used in climbing and mountaineering situations. So whether its learning to set up simple belay systems or the rudiments of navigation we have a course for you. Our guiding service is very popular for those with specific goals in mind, so you can enjoy and access some of the classic walks, climbs and scrambles of The Lake District and other mountainous areas of the UK or just have a grand day out. Our work with both local and national charities has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and makes up a high proportion of our annual delivery. We specialise in tailor made events and have become somewhat experts in abseiling from unusual buildings (just click on our ‘Charity Events’ tab above). Our charity walks are a great way to encourage lots of participants and a great way to raise money for a chosen charity close to your heart. Finally, we wanted to tell you about our Spanish Adventures and retreats based in Southern Spain. These adventures definitely fit with our company strap line 'for adventures of a lifetime'. Although we have had a connection and a place set aside in our heart with a little village called Murtas for over fifteen years, we have only recently, started to offer adventures there. These adventures are as far removed from life on the costa's as they could be and so far everyone who has visited has fallen in love with the areas we have taken them to. So if you are after some guaranteed sun, warm hospitality, a new cultural experience and possibly a little vino away from the tourists, we think we have the perfect experience for you. 1. A TOTALLY NEW APPROACH TO LEARNING PIANO Your teacher is a multi-award winning international pianist Stephen Ridley, who taught himself piano from the age of 2 before starting formal training at 11. He discovered in his early years, through much trial and error, a completely unique way to learn piano and understand music, which involved breaking down learning piano into 55 key steps, each as simple and time consuming as brushing your teeth, and that when properly guided through these in an exact correct order, mastering each one in turn, that they would inevitably end up achieving success. 2. BUILDING ON WHAT YOU ALREADY CAN DO Because we’re only ever teaching one simple step at a time, in a very easy gradient, it means you only ever do something you CAN do, you’re never doing something you can’t. FOCUSING ON PRACTICAL ABILITY This is about making pianists who understand music and can play. Gone are most of the technical words, gone is the latin technology (we believe it’s ineffective to teach in Latin given that nobody speaks Latin anymore!), and gone is anything that is not directly necessary for a mastering of the subject of music and the practical skill of playing piano. We want to make artists who can play, not people who sound smart at dinner parties (although we do still teach the full subject of music theory within the course, so you’ll sound very smart telling people all about Syncopated Rhythmic Subdivision, but more importantly, you’ll know what it is used for and how to DO it!). "My goal is to make one million artists, to give people the gift I’ve got, and to give them the enormous freedom, joy and depth that this skill gives me.” The Piano Masterclass is a complete guide to take ANYONE to becoming a pianist fast. Throughout his education and work experience, Mr. Hamidi has gained valuable experience in the field of leadership, research, education & management. Amel Abosamek Amel Abosamek is a homeroom teacher at Nur Academy. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt and earned her BS in Chemical Engineering from Alexandria University. CABE Patron Lord John Lytton BSc FCABE (Hon) IRRV FRICS In his role as patron of CABE, Lord Lytton acts as an influential figurehead, creating valuable partnerships with organisations across the globe through his extensive network of industry and Governmental contacts and assisting the Association in raising its profile and influence within the building and construction industry. Lord Lytton is a leading chartered surveyor and an active contributor to the House of Lords. He is chairman of the boundaries and party walls professional panel of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Vice Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Excellence in the Built Environment as well as being newly appointed to the House of Lords Information Committee. He has been an Honorary Fellow of ABE since 1997, and CABE since its formation in 2014. Presidential Team Joseph Birt PCABE FCABE – President Joseph Birt worked for 22 years within Local Authority Building Control in various posts; the latter 12 years as Specialist Support Officer for a Cluster of Councils, which included responsibility for advising on fire safety aspects of the Building Regulations. He was, for ten years, a Director of the William Keown Charitable Trust, which champions equality in the built environment and celebrates the achievements of people with disabilities. He has been elected twice as Chairman of the Northern Ireland Fire Safety Panel. By Ministerial Appointment he served two terms on the Northern Ireland’s Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC) where he contributed to the development of the current Northern Ireland Building Regulations. He has also served two terms on the Department of Communities, Historic Buildings Council. Joseph is a Chartered Building Engineer, who continues to be active within his local CABE Region; currently Treasurer and past Chairman of the CABE Northern Ireland Region’. Richard is a recognised expert in the area of onsite wastewater treatment and provides a complete site suitability assessment, treatment system design, and certification of installation for onsite wastewater treatment systems throughout Ireland. Richard has been Chair of the CABE Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC) since its inception in 2019 as well as member of the Southern Ireland Region committee of CABE. He has a degree in Fire Risk Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University. Stewart began his career in building standards before moving into the warranty sector. He also has recent experience as a site manager. Jackie Macaulay – Chief Operating Officer Jackie is responsible for all aspects of the organisations operations and internal processing. Her remit includes compliance, legal services, HR, OD & change management, IT, facilities, PR & communications, membership processing and deputising for the CEO in his absence. Her experience spans a range of manufacturing, construction and not-for-profit organisations with her first Director position as HR Director for Electrolux in 2004. Richard Harral BA BArch FCABE RIBA – Technical Director Richard Harral is the Technical Director for CABE. He has previously worked as an architect in both public and private sector practice, and as a policy official in the Building Regulations Division of MHCLG between 2007 and 2014 where he oversaw introduction of policies on accessible housing, security standards, broadband and the national space standard for new homes. He was subsequently Head of Technical Policy in the period 2014-2017. He currently sits on the CIC Competence Steering Group, and chairs a number of competence working groups including on Designer and Architect Competence. He was Technical author for Flex 8670, the recently published British Standard on Competence for building safety in Built environment industries. Alison Duckles CBE – Professional Development Director Alison has worked in the Construction sector for over 24 years, predominantly with Laing O’Rourke. Campus Creation In 1865, when Methodists in Ireland numbered only 23,000 out of a total population of six million, it was decided to build a college in Belfast, partly for the training of Methodist ministers and partly as a school for boys. Money was collected, mainly from the Irish Methodists but with help from England and America, and 15 acres of land were acquired on what were the very outskirts of the city at that time.This land included the present College Gardens as well as the site on which the College stands. The foundation stone of the New Wesleyan College at Belfast (as it was originally known) was laid on 24th August 1865 by Sir William McArthur, a Londonderry businessman, who later became Lord Mayor of London. Three years later, on 18th August 1868, the College was opened with 141 pupils. Just after the opening of the College a proposal that "young ladies" be educated on equal terms with the boys was accepted by the committee of Management, with the result that from the third month of its existence Methodist College has been a co-educational establishment.In 1891 Sir William McArthur bequeathed a large sum of money towards the foundation of the hall of residence for girl boarders. The College steadily flourished and the enrolment increased. There was a rapid growth of numbers after 1920, when the theological department moved to Edgehill College thus releasing more accommodation for the school's use.

The Project Who are we? We are a newly formed co-housing group, created by a range of individuals who share common principles and who bring expertise to the project, in areas such as; eco design, engineering and construction, research, community development, fundraising, charity and homelessness sector, arts, education, facilitation and training. The story so far The group started informally in 2017 and later joined together as a formed group of five families and committed to progressing quickly in 2018. We have been supported by the Brighton & Hove Community Land Trust and have been successful in securing funding to work with Bioregional on their One Planet Affordable Living (OPAL) process to develop our project. We are continuing to apply for further funding, look for sites to build on, develop our membership policy and financial plan. What is our plan? We have developed a three year plan which involves securing significant funding, finding a site to build on and partnering with an eco developer. How will we finance & ownership work? We are in partnership with an experienced eco developer to support the development of an investment model which can incorporate home owning mortgages, rental and social housing. How will the community work? Homes will be separate units, there will some shared land/garden and play area and a common house; which will have a shared kitchen and dining area and possibly guest rooms, meeting/office space and laundry facilities. We are aiming for a simple community model – with the minimum amount of rules and process that allow us to live as harmoniously as possible. With everyone understanding that, if we all actively contribute to the community – the better it will be for all of us.

Welcome to the website of The Edge Academy- I hope it provides you with a flavour of academy life and all of the information you require. I was immensely proud to be appointed Principal of The Edge in 2018 and am thoroughly enjoying what is now my fifth year in role- I live locally, was born and bred in Northfield and have a great affinity for the academy having initially joined it as Vice Principal before becoming Principal. Prior to joining The Edge, I started my career as a French teacher, became a Head of Year and went on to work on senior leadership teams for ten years in three secondary schools in Nottinghamshire and the West Midlands. The Edge Academy aims to be a welcoming, stable and friendly place for our students. We aim to provide the best possible environment for students to learn and develop with an understanding of the world around them. Together, we strive to bring the best out of our students, ensuring that they maximise their potential and are prepared as fully as possible for reintegration to mainstream education or for progress to further learning and life – be that post-16 study, employment or training. For some students, success in the education system means we have to offer something different. At the Edge Academy, we challenge students to take responsibility for being SAFE, modify their behaviour, improve attitudes to school life and make academic progress across the range and breadth of curriculum opportunities available. In addition to classroom-based learning, students are provided with enrichment opportunities throughout the academic year. We respect that all of our young people are individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and life-experiences. We passionately believe that by assisting them to overcome their personal barriers, they should be entitled and READY to access the full-range of opportunities available in society. Little Hurrahs has been teaching BSL-based Baby and Toddler sign for over 5 years, working with families, carers, Pre-school and Nursery Setting and many other groups and organisations. Little Hurrahs is the Brain Child of Jo Emmerson. Now a mum of two, I have worked in all kinds of roles, from PR Director to Housing Manager, from Weight Loss Consultant to Quality Control in a Chocolate Factory, and more recently as both student and teacher of British Sign Language. My love of BSL started five years ago when we started taking BSL-based baby signing with our 6-month-old son. I utterly fell in love with how transformative it was. The gift of being able to communicate meaningfully with this small shouty human was mindblowing. It completely changed my experience of parenting, gave me the tools and techniques to begin to bond with the little squish, and start to trust my instincts. Fast forward a few years and my son was diagnosed with bilateral middle ear effusion (or 'Glue Ear' as it's commonly known) and he has significant hearing loss in both ears. Without his bone-conduction hearing aid, his hearing is similar to putting your fingers in your ears and putting your head underwater. Thankfully, we've been signing with him for years now. This diagnosis prompted me to move my BSL forward, completing Level 2 during Lockdowns in 2021 and completing my Level 3 in 2022, with a plan to start my training to become an n interpreter and gain my Level 6 qualification from 2023. It has also changed the focus of my work, moving me away from solely working with babies and toddlers to working with nurseries, schools, and colleges as well as parents with D/deaf and Hearing Impaired children. I am also pretty active in my local D/deaf community, volunteering and socializing - I'm proud of my signing son, and I want him to grow up feeling proud to be part of the BSL community. I now work directly with parents and carers, teachers, school staff, and children, delivering a range of courses, from self-led 90-day courses for parents, carers and EYFS settings, to School-year based 'train the trainer' online courses for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. These courses are primarily delivered online and are designed to ensure that my students get real, impactful results that can be measured informally, either through improved communication and understanding in the home or through in-class monitoring to ensure children meet formal education goals and expectations. I am also working with a Primary School to develop a new course, enabling staff and pupils to meet the Progression Steps for BSL as an International Language under the new Curriculum for Wales. I am a Healer, a Mastery Facilitator and trained as a Life Coach Practitioner and Professional Stress Management Consultant so my approach is rooted in more deep dive coaching approaches around mindset shifting and (energy) healing. I use a variety of modalities to help people heal themselves in creative ways. I genuinely want to offer not just my skills as far as my training is concerned but most importantly my life experience. I now feel that I want to be able to share this with others to help them heal themselves. My approach is about getting to the root cause of the problem through building on fundamentals that involve radical self love, forgiveness, acceptance and compassion. What I offer is a more bespoke process, working with clients with several modalities to help them unlock their own dynamic and creative solutions within themselves. My focus is always results driven, and I usually assess clients closely to see that it's a good match and that the client is ready to do the work and change. If they are not, that is okay too, but I will usually invite them to return another time where they are in a better position to do the work. I have been on a healing journey myself having lived with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)for many years undiagnosed until a few years back, when I was finally diagnosed and started therapy. Therapy made me feel worse. In the middle of my therapy journey I got diagnosed with Leukemia and what followed was several gruelling months of chemotherapy. I am thankfully now in cancer remission and fully recovered from PTSD. It was my determination and willingness to heal and thrive from what felt like a life sentence of a chronic mental health condition and a serious physical illness that led me to undertake the journey to get better and that led me to do the work I am doing now: helping others to access their own healing abilities and not just overcome and heal, but thrive too. I have always been someone that tried out various modalities (from Energy Healing to Neuroscience)at different points of my recovery and I use this same approach in my coaching practice too. I work with clients that are looking for a different approach to healing themselves. Many that are in therapy work with me alongside therapy to boost and supplement their inner work and for those that choose not to be in therapy, my approach offers a lifeline of accessing untapped potentialities. My passion in life is to help people who are serious about making make real, permanent changes and help them get to the heart of their issues by following the path of effortless flow with life in a more creative way. The result is an embodiment of wholeness, joy, vibrancy and aliveness in their lives. I believe EVERYONE is creative however each of us accesses our imagination and creative process in very different and unique ways. But it is with creativity, and using the imagination, the body and all our senses that makes healing and growth possible and fun!
