Who are Hoylake Vision? A group of local volunteer residents and businesses, and we love Hoylake. We are not part of the council. So what are you doing? We produced and manage the Hoylake Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) in consultation with local residents and businesses. The NDP came into force as a statutory part of the Council’s Local Plan in December 2016 following a public referendum. What’s the point? Maybe you don’t want things to change much, because you think Hoylake is already a great place to live. We agree. Maybe you think that some things could be better, and wish there was a way to make that happen. We agree. Maybe you think some things are actually getting worse, and wish there was a way to ‘stop the rot’. We agree. We’re here for all of those reasons. But first and foremost, while wanting to celebrate and protect the best of Hoylake, we recognise that some change is inevitable and necessary in order to keep any town or village ‘alive’. And we believe local residents and businesses should have a much greater influence on future decisions around how that change happens, when it happens, and what it looks like. It really is that simple.

Naftali brings more than 26 years’ experience in project and organisational management in the UK and overseas. He has a BSc Honours degree and is a former teacher and qualified trainer. He has served as a Director at Tolerance International UK, ACORD UK, Motivation Charitable Trust UK; Programme Manager at Netherlands Foreign Service and ETC East Africa Consultants BV; etc. He has extensive experience with youth, intergenerational and inter-cultural work and training both in the UK and in Eastern Africa. James Musau Nzala James Nzala is the Let Us Connect Programme Co-ordinator in Kenya. He has a BSc IT degree and is qualified in advanced web design (PHP, MySQL database, CSS & JavaScript coding), software and hardware trouble shooting and repair, IT-user training, and network building and management. Ben Ferguson Ben was one of the first to pioneer gap year experiences in Kenya with Mend the Gap. Since then he has become a long term volunteer and brings a wealth of business and hospitality experience to the organisation. As a Speech and Language Therapist passionate about supporting children’s communication skills, I’ve created this as a space to share information, resources and ideas. I have extensive experience of working with children from 2-16 years with a range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). I studied to become a Speech and Language Therapist at Newcastle University and developed my enthusiasm for supporting children’s communication throughout the course. Since being qualified (2011) I have worked in the NHS in the North East and in Yorkshire, supporting children in the community, early years and school settings. I have also worked directly for schools supporting the individual needs of the children as well as leading on staff training and development in specific areas of Speech and Language. I believe that communication is a vital skill in order to participate in a range of activities of daily living. Everyone deserves the support required to enable them to communicate effectively. I have worked with children with a range of SLCN and have particular interests in supporting children’s early language, speech sound development and selective mutism. The information presented on this website contains ideas and resources to develop speech and language skills in children and is designed to support, not replace, consultation with a Speech and Language Therapist. If you are concerned about your child you should seek relevant professional advice. Every child is unique and requires individual assessment to identify their own specific needs.
