He has been engaged on experimental and theoretical investigation of liquid hydrogen pool spreading and vaporization. Pool spreading and vaporization of liquid hydrogen. Simulation of Small-Scale Releases from Liquid Hydrogen Storage Systems by Oil and Gas majors internationally. His recent research has involved assessing cost-effective choices of marine fuels in a carbon-constrained world resulting from theoretical global energy models in Environmental science &amp; technology.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">He is an independent expert in the Marine Engineering field, dominating matters involving the Oil and LNG, Hydrogen and biofuel sectors. He lectures in the field of marine survey engineering, LNG auditing and safety throughout South East Asia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and the United States of America (Gulf). This includes developing and providing expert training in LNG and Hydrogen vessel and offshore platform HSE/NEBOSH/SIMOP/LNG/IMO and ILO.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">From a Marine Engineering and Surveying perspective, he has worked aboard a variety of LNG vessel classes including LNG Oil/Carriers, Multi-Purpose Self Loaders, Offshore Anchor Handling Vessels, Offshore Supply Vessels &ndash; Oil and LNG, Combo &ndash; Heavy lift Ships &ndash; Class LNG. Foremost, he has been instrumental in the early development of hydrogen and biofuel Marine industry developments in USA and Europe bunker refuelling sector.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">He is an independent Navy and Government advisor, former fleet manager, Class Surveyor and technical superintendent in the LNG Sector. This includes the oversight of STS HSE in the North West Shelf (Chevron &ndash; Gorgon Project $54 Billion USD Offshore LNG). He has previously also been engaged as an qualified Court Litigation Expert, advisor and &lsquo;in house&rsquo; independent consultant to various multinationals within Australia, Europe and South East Asia in LNG Occupational Health and Safety (OH&amp;S). <p>He enjoys dealing with challenging technical problems and opportunities to deliver value through practical solutions. During his career, he coached many engineers and delivered countless inhouse and external courses on crude oil, hydrocracking and general refinery processes and economics at the Shell Open University and many other client locations. He authored and co-authored several publications and presentations at international conferences and has three patents to his name.</p>
<p>He understands how to deliver outstanding services in sometimes difficult cultural and commercial situations, having worked for clients around the world. He works effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, has strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent consulting, facilitation and interpersonal and multilingual skills.</p>

An exciting new opportunity to study in person for your International Institute of Chocolate and Cacao Tasting (IICCT) Intermediate Level 2 course in Chocolate Tasting. The course is held over an intense three days and provides fuller understanding of fine chocolate and its flavour possibilities. 
The course and teaching will be led by IICCT Teacher, Chocolate Educator and International Chocolate Judge, Kathryn Laverack and will be delivered at her recently launched teaching and tasting venue at The Mart, in the town centre. Louth is a traditional foodie destination in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It is also just a short drive away from Duffy’s Chocolate micro-batch factory. The afternoon of Friday 18th October will be taught at Duffy’s Chocolate (transport will be provided).
 About the course
The Level 2 intermediary course explores the world of fine and origin chocolate in greater depth, looking in detail at the styles of different chocolate makers and different approaches to chocolate making, from micro-batch to large scale. Treatment and flaws in cacao are examined as well as the chocolate production chain and how its elements contribute to flavour development.
The course explores chocolate history with an emphasis on taste and the current chocolate market. Over 30 chocolate bars and samples are tasted, with repeat tasting, profiling and blind tasting to gain a full understanding.
Level 2 introduces the Institute’s online chocolate profiling system, which will be used throughout the course working with laptops or tablets. You will need to bring your own laptop or tablet to access the system.
The course finishes on the final day with a 60-minute multiple choice exam based on the course content and a 30-minute blind tasting test. Certificates will be issued by IICCT upon achieving a pass mark.
