The company organises student summer programs in the UK for Chinese students and provide consultancy services to secondary and prospective undergraduate students hoping to study in the UK. In recent years, the company has been strengthened on the business service of helping and assisting business organisations in UK to develop business relationships with peer organisations in China, and vise versa.

Giving your pets the daily exercise they need can be difficult due to work commitments or inclement weather, creating a vicious unhealthy cycle for you and your pet. That is why we supply a friendly and welcoming public space – warm in the winter and cool in the summer – whereby your dog can socialise with other dogs and make use of all kinds of specialised dog play equipment. Our goal is to make dog training and canine exercise a less stressful, more communal process in which dog owners and their pets can come together in a vibrant social hub.

It’s our vision to help our customers reduce their environmental footprint giving them the choice to buy home-grown flowers over imported foreign flowers. This small decision will have a big impact on the reduction of carbon emissions from unhealthy production techniques and transport fumes. We strive to continually reduce our environmental footprint by choosing recyclable or compostable packaging, streamlining deliveries, avoiding synthetic chemicals like the plague and whenever possible sourcing product from within Britain, Scotland ideally. Farming counterintuitively can be detrimental to the land, I’m talking about the huge hedge-less fields, large machinery and single crop type of farming you see everywhere. At SCF we aim to be the opposite of that, we have 50+ different varieties of flowers for the wildlife to feed and live from, we use minimum till methods to protect the important worm population, we use compost to add fertility, and beneficial insects rather than synthetic chemicals to control pests and weed suppression material to negate the need for weed killer. We feel it is our duty as custodians of the land to help in the fight to save the bees, this year we will be undertaking a bee keeping course and hope to establish our hives by mid-summer. With such an abundance of flowers and surrounding fields, we should be able to provide a sanctuary for at least a couple of hives which will increase the pollination of those surrounding food crops. We are buzzing!

powdermills pottery

Powdermills Pottery is housed in granite buildings that were once part of a nineteenth century gunpowder factory. It is found in the very centre of Dartmoor National Park in Devon and is part of the Duchy of Cornwall estate. Powdermills is the home and workplace of potter, Joss Hibbs: her range of pottery is sold in The Shop. Cream teas are served in the courtyard in the Summer season, and Throwing Courses are run year-round. The old workshop has been rejuvenated by local charity Friends of the Dartmoor Hill Pony and now houses the Dartmoor Hill Pony Exhibition, explaining the history and importance of the 'wild' ponies on Dartmoor. Joanne Tinley has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a  jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is self-taught and like many people started with wire and beads. Learning how to solder, however, opened up a whole new world of jewellery making,  one that she is keen to share!
