This course is for those who have already completed a Level 1 course and need to gain an advanced knowledge of Child Protection, including working towards becoming a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), manager or policy writer. This course is designed for individuals who work with children in either a paid or voluntary capacity. It relates to the issues surrounding safeguarding children by exploring the concepts of "child vulnerability", "child protection" and "significant harm"; coupled with the individual and organisational responsibilities of protecting children from abuse. Building on these concepts&rsquo; child abuse is explored and the four main forms of abuse, namely: physical abuse; emotional abuse; sexual abuse and neglect are explored. In addition, the problem of bullying is investigated. The course will enable students to recognise the signs of child abuse by focusing on examples as well as the behavioural and physical indicators. The legislation that underpins child protection is briefly explored. A practical approach is taken to identify responsibilities in handling the disclosure, recording, and reporting of abuse by children. What is your refund policy?
We can accept cancellations up until 48 hours before we begin. We regret, as we are a small CIC, that we cannot take cancellations via email but ask that you log into Eventbrite to cancel your ticket should it be necessary.
Do I need any special equipment?
No, you need something to take a photograph on, a valid email address and a strong internet connection so that we can communicate over zoom. You would benefit from downloading an app called www.padlet.com to your device but this is not essential. The extension project is entirely optional.
What happens after the week long project is finished?
You will be invited into a community project or if you live in North Yorkshire you might like to book a 1:1 session with me. Personalised sessions start at £49:99 per person.
Do I have to be a photographer?
Absolutely not, we assume no prior experience of photography.
Is this like therapy?
We are not therapists but the process has a gentle and calming effect upon your wellbeing. We will be engaging in simple tasks to encourage mindfulness. We do ask that you are well and happy to engage in a small group session online. We embody respect in our work and we ask that you do the same.
Will you be using my images?
We never share your images unless you specifically ask for us to. Your image and copyright remains your own.

Are you a stressed, exhausted SEN/EBSA parent or carer, running on empty, with no time to shout "HELP!"&nbsp;let alone step off the hamster wheel to rest, recharge and recuperate?Parenting neurodivergent and/or school avoidant young people comes with a unique set of challenges and, if you&#39;re finding yourself lurching from managing meltdowns to fighting for support or feeling isolated and judged because people don&#39;t understand, it can be really hard and I GET IT!After finding myself pretty much burnt out I discovered and implemented quick and simple self-help and relaxation tools that have helped strengthen my coping skills to navigate my family&#39;s journey, rebuild my resilience and rediscover&nbsp;my old self!&nbsp;I was so blown away by how beneficial simple habits can be that it&#39;s my mission to help others do the same - and so I created&nbsp;The SHARE Project.The ethos of THE SHARE Project is that&nbsp;we need to put our own oxygen mask on first&nbsp;so that we can&nbsp;best support our kids&nbsp;and my aim is that the tools you will learn during our time together will become your oxygen mask, not only for use in case of emergency, but as a sustainable part of your ongoing&nbsp;self-care and wellbeing.During each&nbsp;of four, weekly, live&nbsp;online workshops, delivered over Zoom, you will learn and practise a new tool to implement daily over the coming week (just a&nbsp;few minutes at a time, I promise)!Then, during the following week&#39;s workshop we will review your progress, make any tweaks and learn and practise the next tool...&nbsp;There&#39;ll be no suggestions of long and luxurious spa days and fluffy robes because most of us don&#39;t have the time to do that very often and, frankly, the benefits disappear almost as soon as you&#39;ve driven home... After being on the brink of burnout myself, I stumbled upon simple, yet life-changing self-help and relaxation tools. These quick, effective techniques helped me rebuild my resilience, reclaim my sense of self and navigate challenges with renewed strength. The transformation was so profound that I knew I had to share it with others—and that’s how The SHARE Project was born.
What is The SHARE Project?
The SHARE Project is built on a simple principle: you need to put your own oxygen mask on first!  By nurturing yourself, you’re better equipped to support your children. Through our four-week, live online workshop series, delivered via Zoom, you’ll discover practical tools to bring more calm and happiness into your daily life.
Here’s what you can expect:
Weekly Workshops:  Each week, we’ll introduce and practice a new tool designed to fit seamlessly into your life (just a few minutes a day, I promise!). These are not your typical “luxury spa day” suggestions — because let’s face it, who has time for that?  Instead, you’ll learn sustainable, go-to strategies that you can use anytime, anywhere, to boost your wellbeing, even in the midst of chaos.  You will also receive a mid-week email of encouragement between workshops and printables to help record and track your progress.
Ongoing Support:  In each session, we’ll review your progress, fine-tune your approach, and introduce the next tool.  This isn’t just a one-off workshop; it’s a journey of growth and connection.
Community Connection: You’ll be part of a supportive group of fellow SEN parents and carers who understand the unique challenges you face.  Together, we’ll share experiences, uplift each other, and grow stronger.

We reflect on our practises and discuss our experiences of home practice. We learn about aspects of stress reduction and the neuroscience of mindfulness and complete a new practice each week. The mindfulness practices include guided meditations and some gentle movement.&nbsp;What is home practice?&nbsp;Each week we learn a new practice together during the session and participants are given an audio recording of that practice to complete at home. This is because it takes 8 weeks of consistent practice for the benefits of mindfulness to take place. To really get the most out of this course, participants are advised to make space for home practice. (20 - 40 minutes a day)&nbsp;&nbsp;Please note that although mindfulness is therapeutic in nature, it is not therapy and should not be used as a replacement for professional therapy or medication. A pre-assessment is required for all participants to ensure your safety and suitability for the course. We aim to be inclusive to all and may need to discuss your mental health and well-being before being accepted. Your information will only be viewed by the facilitator and will be kept confidential.&nbsp;
