We run a wide range of craft and textile workshops [https://www.dtcrafts.co.uk/workshops-classes-events-calendar/] and pride ourselves in delivering high quality, enjoyable classes, events and workshops.  Our courses range from short, 'make & take' sessions, through to one day or week-long training workshops.  We are very happy to take bookings from individuals, groups, community organisations, schools, colleges and businesses - be it a baby shower, wedding party, birthday or corporate event (our crafty team-building and wellbeing sessions are particularly popular!). We can also arrange one-to-one sessions if there's something specific you're interested in.  Sessions can be run at our studio in Altrincham, or at a venue to suit you. We bring everything so you just need to relax and enjoy a fun, making session! My name is Amy Powell and I am a catalyst for reconnecting people with their innate creativity. At Bristol Art For All we facilitate friendly, inclusive learning environments where people can explore their creativity. We started in 2015 running an open access drop in face-to-face community art class in Easton in Bristol. From December 2019 to March 2020 sessions moved to Hamilton House in Stokes Croft Bristol and since April 2020 have been online. Online sessions are run in partnership with local charities as well as sessions open to all adults. Current partners include Age UK and St Mungo’s Recovery College. All online sessions are around a theme selected by the participants, who use the art materials and skills they already have to devise their own projects. Support is on hand to give input on what is made. The sessions act as an online art studio with time for making and opportunities to share and get feedback on artwork. Participants are seen as artists first with the acceptance that we are all on our own life journeys. The focus is on creating learning environments where people enjoy the process of making. With this strong foundation people can have the confidence and resilience to develop further skills. This website gives a taste of the work made over the course of Bristol Art For All. Myself and Rosa Hewitt began Bristol Art For All in 2015. In 2017 Rosa went to the University of Hertfordshire to study Art Therapy. She now works in London as an art therapist with children. I continued with the project in Bristol with the support of volunteers, building my knowledge, experience and skills by studying courses in teaching, facilitation, communication and social enterprise. As well as volunteering with Arts and Health organisations including Studio Upstairs, Bristol Art on Prescription, Workers Education Association (WEA), Milestones Expressions programme and St Mungos Recovery College where I currently run their online art class. I love being a catalyst for people to reconnect with their creativity. It is a great privilege to have worked with over 200 people across Bristol and beyond. Some have attended for years others for one session but all have been welcome and encouraged in their art making. I am currently in the process of making Bristol Art For All into an online art school to reach people who would otherwise struggle to access mainstream arts education. I am interested to connect with organisations, which work with clients who would benefit from exploring and developing their creativity with the support of being in a group.

Here at La Tuilerie, in the beautiful and historic Val d’Albret, near Nérac, in the heart of Gascony, SW France, is the weaving and teaching studio of Stacey Harvey-Brown. Her life’s continuing goal is to create 3-dimensional woven art inspired by nature, and to enthuse, inspire and assist others who wish to explore the world of weave – My mission is unlocking creativity through weave so that you can be the weaver you want to be! She is currently the weave editor for the UK’s Journal of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers. Stacey is currently creating a new website but in the meantime, this site will take you through to the new courses, so feel free to continue browsing. WOVEN OPTICAL ILLUSIONS – BOOK and Workshops! Like everyone else, The Loom Room France has had to postpone all studio courses until 2022 (following government guidelines). However, Stacey is working on an exciting project called Woven Optical Illusions. She presented a seminar to the New England Weavers on Saturday 17th July and now is continuing to develop more fascinating illusions in weave for a book which is planned for Summer 2022! If you are interested in the Woven Optical Illusions book and the online series it is leading to, you can sign up for our specific newsletter here. At The Loom Room France, we offer you a holiday weaving experience you will never forget (in a good way!!) When life returns to ‘normal’, we shall continue to offer our regular courses and some new ones! One week Courses – whatever your weaving experience, whether complete beginner, intermediate, or experienced, we offer tailor-made residential weaving courses. Incorporated into your course are two half-day excursions in this enchanting area, visiting selected places of interest, local markets (a hallmark of this area of France) and experiencing the food and drink of the region, as well as home-brewed real English ale from professional micro-brewer, Albret Ales, and enjoying the wonderfully relaxed joie de vivre of life in the slow lane. We also offer dedicated courses on specific topics, such as creating texture (Texture for the Tentative & Three Techniques for Texture) (more advanced), Honeycomb Hybrids (based on my book) and Woven Optical Illusions (coming up!). Home cooking, local wines and the convivial ambience of warm lazy evenings on the terrace watching the sunset and the wildlife or participating in local social offerings (if you want to!) are also an important part of your course!

We share the concerns raised by Arts Council England and the International Council of Museums (ICOM) about the risks faced by cultural professionals as well as the threats to cultural heritage because of this conflict and we send our support to all creative practitioners and cultural organisations and institutions affected. 5 June 2020: Stanley Picker Gallery and our partner venue Dorich House Museum recognise we must do more as cultural organisations to be actively anti-racist. We commit to taking immediate steps to implement a clear plan of action to address systemic racism at every level of our organisations, whilst actively seeking and welcoming critical engagement from diverse perspectives in this process. Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University is one of the leading university galleries and commissioning venues in the UK, working with artists, designers, students, academics and members of the local community to encourage creativity, learning, research and innovation. Established in 1997 with the ongoing support of the Stanley Picker Trust, the Gallery forms part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and is a principal cultural interface between Kingston University and its civic communities in South-West London and beyond. From its island location on the Hogsmill River, our venue is a creative hub, a production site and a presentation space that functions as an “expanded studio” dedicated to commissioning and curating contemporary art and design practice, generating a dynamic programme of exhibitions, events and participation activities staged onsite, offsite and online. Appointed each year through public open call, our Stanley Picker Fellowships in Design and Fine Art support a diversity of contemporary practitioners to research, create and premiere ambitious new work, by providing generous grants, free studio space, professional expertise and valuable access to the world-class workshop facilities at Kingston School of Art. The call for applications opens annually in May. Our Participation Programme involves us working collaboratively with schools, colleges, community groups and local residents of all ages, to deliver a range of creative activities and shared learning and professional development opportunities for students, that engage everyone in the life of the Gallery, our partner venue Dorich House Museum and the wider University. Willow and Wire Sculptor Victoria or Vik as she likes to be called hails from South Somerset; home of ancient kingdoms, fables and roads less travelled, these origins feed into her work, representing elements of the natural world and those who celebrate it. Vik began her creative journey as a theatre designer and maker, using a willow framework for carnivalesque costumes, from here she developed her practice to bring her dynamic sketches to life, creating forms from willow and wire that encapsulate her love of texture and mass. Now her Coach House Studio in the heart of Mid Devon, is her base where she works to commission on a range of projects for large and small gardens, parklands, orchards and public spaces; working with clients to create pieces that sit harmoniously in their environment. Clients include designers, private collectors, companies, charities, councils and housing groups in addition she has created large scale sculptures for The Woodland Trust, The RHS Chelsea Flower Show and Torre Abbey.
