Stephen, born with a disability himself, was only too aware of the many barriers that can exist for so many groups within society, which make participating in mainstream activities more difficult. Stephen is hugely passionate about championing inclusivity and was driven to create opportunities for everyone, supporting those who need help the most. He wanted to provide opportunities to support individuals and families from all walks of life, focusing on those who may face additional challenges. Stephen set up The Mason Foundation to remove barriers, provide opportunities to build lasting friendships, and celebrate inclusivity. His mission is centered around reducing inequalities and helping everyone live happy, healthy, active, and fulfilled lives. The first initiative launched by the Foundation was The Mason Mile – locally centred, community-based miles, where everyone can come together to do 15 minutes of activity, doing #TheirMileTheirWay, regardless of ability or disability. This has continued to evolve and now includes additional programmes such as The Family Mile and The Community Mile. In 2021, following the devastating impact of the pandemic, the global economy was struggling with a shortage of workers for entry-level roles. The Mason Foundation, through an existing partnership with The Oaks Specialist College, was also very aware of the challenges facing young people with learning disabilities to successfully secure and maintain appropriate employment, specifically in entry-level roles. It felt like there was a huge disconnect. This led to the development of Propel, a programme set up to overcome barriers and support young people with learning disabilities into work.

With its foundations set in ancient yogic tradition, Dru Yoga works on body, mind and spirit—improving strength and flexibility, creating core stability, building a potent feeling of positivity, and deeply relaxing and rejuvenating your whole being. It is a life changing experience and is designed for everyone. People of all ages, fitness levels and abilities can practice Dru. Your teacher will take you through various options that suit your needs. You will feel happy, relaxed and confident learning at your own pace. What is Dru Meditation? If you’re feeling agitated, Dru Meditation will bring you calmness. If you’re feeling exhausted, it will give you energy. If you’re feeling anxious, it will bring you peace. And most importantly, Dru Meditation will help you find that still place, with its sense of fullness, achievement and its deep healing properties, that only Yoga and Meditation can bring. Reasons to do Dru Yoga? Dru Yoga was founded upon the ideal of giving back to the world in which we live and that ideal still burns brightly for us today. Including all the teachers we have taught. At Dru we’re passionate about positive health and wellbeing. With Yoga and Meditation at our core, we care deeply about nutrition, remedies and relieving the stresses of everyday living. Our aim has always been to promote a positive, healthier and more peaceful existence for adults and children alike, giving back to the community by channeling resources into good causes. The major passion we share is our love for Yoga and Meditation. It is through these media that we initially wanted to inspire the world and the community around us to find a healthier, happier, more empowered way of living. Of course we recognize these are only two of the many routes to achieving a more fulfilling existence. However they remain at the very core of what we do here at Dru.
