We offer a wide range of English language courses, including General English, exam preparation (e.g. IELTS), Business English, English for Specific Purposes and One-to-One Tuition. Our aim is to help our students achieve their language goals and have a memorable experience in the charming city of York. English in York was established in 1985 and is known for its high level of student support. We measure our success by the number of students who return to study at EiY, as well as recommend the school to family and friends. The many years we have worked with our partners, agents and clients all over the world are also testament to what we do. English in York is a welcoming and pleasant place to be. We value a learner-centred approach and use a variety of teaching techniques and resources. Student progress is monitored through weekly progress tests. Our school has recently moved from Coney Street to Peasholme House, which is a beautiful 18th century Georgian house in the city centre of York. It is a charming building with a pleasant outdoor space where students can enjoy the English summer. The school has a comfortable coffee lounge with a television, newspapers and graded readers where students can relax and talk to friends between classes. We have wireless internet throughout the school and computers for student use. As we are located in the city centre, we are within easy reach of attractions, shops, restaurants and cafés.

We are a swimming lesson provider that is passionate about ensuring that everyone in the UK has the opportunity to learn to swim and is safe in the water. We provide group and private swimming lessons for children and adults of all ages; all abilities. Our group swimming lessons are kept small to allow us to focus on the individual needs of each swimmer. Debbie Adams [Adams Aquatics owner] is actively involved in the swimming industry and drives the passion within Adams Aquatics to improve swimming standards in the UK. As part of the Aquatics Working Group at the Swimming Teachers Association [STA] Debbie helped develop the current qualifications for swimming teachers. As a tutor Debbie teaches people to become swimming teachers. She works closely with Adams Aquatics teachers to help them keep up to date with the latest teaching techniques and information.

Our teaching techniques at MAKE are very holistic. All of our students design and make items that they want to create for their level of skill. From basic skirts, curtains, pillows, simple pencil cases through to ultimate fashionista jackets! With my younger teenage fashion students every project is more exciting as its bespoke to them and their vision...just like a mini fashion school. We're just there for you on your journey, enabling you to actually make it! We work with students from concept, learning how to measure, fabric selection through to finally sewing your final project from curtains to clothing. Most of our current students couldn't sew or use a machine before they came to MAKE. After our regular weekly sessions, they now make clothes that they actually want to wear and create curtains or bags that make their friends envious! Anyone can learn to sew, design and make. All you need is a bit of encouragement, patience and a nice cuppa to help you along your way!

We ensure a consistent, professional and individual-focused experience in accordance with the SwimWay Teaching Methodology. All our instructors currently work or have worked in established swimming programs across London and throughout the world. Rubba Duckies is located in the heart of Guildford, and reflects the vibrant energy of the area. The skilled team members are here to help students achieve their goals. We operate out of two locations in Guildford, Surrey. Each pool offers different facilities and will suit different levels and needs. Fort Road Pool This pool is located at our home, it is a small pool and due to the location, we are only able to offer lessons Monday to Friday between 9:30am - 5:30pm. We only offer private 1-1 or 2-1 lessons at this pool. Our speciality at this venue is babies, toddlers and any children with any special needs or a fear of water. It is small and only one class can take place at a time. There is less distraction and due to the small classes, so we can work at your child’s pace and make them feel comfortable in an environment that they may be less fearful in. The cost of lessons at this pool are as follows: 1-1 lessons £40.00 per child per lesson 2-1 lessons £25.00 per child per lesson Boxgrove School Pool This is a great pool at a school in the heart of Guildford. The pool is 20m long and we are able to accommodate various skill levels. We start with Parent and Baby classes and go all the way through to adult fitness sessions and everything in between. We offer lessons at this pool on the following days: Monday 6:30pm - 8:30pm Thursday 6:30pm - 8:30pm Saturday 1:00pm - 5:00pm Sunday 1:00pm - 5:00pm There are various classes taking place at the same time, so we do try and accommodate families with siblings. We are normally able to get siblings in the pool at the same time so as to avoid multiple trips or long waits around the pool. The cost of lessons at this pool are as follows: 1-1 lessons £40.00 per child per lesson 2-1 lessons £25.00 per child per lesson Group classes (4 per class) £13.00 per child per lesson NB: Please note that we do invoice monthly in advance and require one month’s written notice to stop swimming for any reason. If you wish to see if there is a space available, please let me know what day and venue suits you best. (More than one option is helpful).
