beechwood riding school

Beechwood Riding School was established in 1972 in Tatsfield. We relocated to Woldingham in 1987 where we have our own farmland and woodland available to ride on and also extensive woodland bridleways allowing our riders plenty of off-road hacking. We have two international size all-weather menages, a grass school, a large jumping paddock with a full set of showjumps, a working equitation course, cross-country jumps and an indoor school. Our philosophy of teaching the classical and holistic approach to riding and horsecare was rather 'avant garde' in the 80's and we were often ridiculed for not allowing riders to kick and pull our lovely and extremely tolerant horses and ponies. Thankfully, after three decades, our approach is not only considered correct but is now widely taught across the country. Over the years we have inspired young and not so young, to develop their riding skills. We have encouraged many to pursue equestrian careers and have vets, farriers, soldiers in the Kings Troop, instructors, competitive riders and professional grooms - one of whom is in royal service at the Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace - who have learned to ride and gained experience here at Beechwood.

PQA is a dedicated performing arts school with classes for children and young adults in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre (singing & dancing) and Film & Television.Pauline and her husband Steve opened their first Academy when they couldn't find anything that ticked all the boxes for their son, Charlie. They wanted to be able to provide performing arts tuition that was enjoyable, fun and would build children’s confidence. More importantly, they wanted to help young people to pursue their life's dreams, whatever those dreams may be, using drama to help children realise their potential and blossom into confident young people. To Pauline and Steve, the performing arts is more than just singing and acting and they wanted to reflect that at PQA. They therefore created a performing arts school that covers the entire arts spectrum, including lessons in Comedy, Drama and of course Film & TV. When 130 students turned up for the opening of the first PQA Academy, they knew they were onto something! Over 15 years later, PQA has more than 200 Academies nationwide and is the largest provider of Film & TV education for young people in the UK.

QUAD BIKING  An awesome activity to get you & your family or friends doing something exhilarating and challenging. This 4x4 experiece will tale you out foe an exhilirating journey of 30-45 minutes, all ober out 200 acres of challening terrain. Starting out fairly easy, the course will get harder the further you progress – don’t worry though, our instructors are talented off-road drivers themselves and will be right with you to help out. If at any point you don’t feel comfortable, or the instructor feels a certain part may be too challenging, they will take over and drive for you – though this rarely happens. You’ll come away with new skills and far better knowledge of how to drive off-road, in addition to an awesome North Devon day out doing something a bit different. Please note must hold a full driving license to be able to drive, and can take up to 3 passengers along with you. If no one has a driving license, then we can take up to 4 passengers on a 4×4 ride with one of our instructors driving. AXE THROWING Have you ever gone axe throwing? We use professional throwing axes, Tomahawks or Mousehawks for the slightly smaller people. We have 3 targets which are marked with points and get harder as you’ll go, so you’ll quickly find there is a definite technique behind throwing an axe! MINI LAND ROVERS This is for the 3 – 10 year olds – I bet your little ones want to drive! Well now they can, let them get behind the wheel and steer themselves around our purpose built track. There are many excellent gyms within the world of kickboxing but only one can claim the unique flavour of Belfast's Prokick. The name 'Prokick' was established at the end of 1990 by Billy Murray, Ireland's most successful full-contact kickboxer, promoter and coach. Murray's tale, from bullied school boy to world champion, and now trainer of multiple world champions is so incredible…almost unbelievable! Billy Murray began his Martial Arts training in the mid 1970's and started training fighters at the start of the 1980’s in Tullycarnet Community Centre, at his first Ju-Jitsu club. Murray went on to open his first full-time Gym, Newtownards Martial Arts centre in Pound Street in 1985. He then moved to Switzerland in 1990 to enhance his kickboxing career. On his return, at the end of 1991, the Prokick gym, a fitness, self-defence and fight stable, was set-up in east Belfast. The spit and sawdust centre is now coming up to it’s 30th year, having been officially established in January 1993. Over the course of the last 30 years Prokick has certainly lived up to it’s reputation as being the ‘Home of Champions.’ Our fighters have performed at prestigious venues across the province. They have travelled to Europe, Asia and North America. We pride ourselves on helping the development of our sport and campaigning for global recognition.
