1881 - Nottingham’s first civic college Nottingham's first civic college was opened in the city centre in 1881, four years after the foundation stone was laid by former Prime Minister, W E Gladstone. An anonymous benefactor had offered £10,000 for a college on condition that a suitable building be erected by the Council and that the college should be provided with £4,000 a year. 1928 - The move to University Park After the First World War, the college outgrew its original building. A generous gift by Sir Jesse Boot, of 35 acres of land at Highfields, presented the solution and in 1928 the College moved to what is now the main campus, University Park. Initially, it was accommodated in the elegant Trent Building and was officially opened by King George V in November of that year. Even in its early days on this site, the College attracted high profile visiting lecturers including Professor Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi and H G Wells. 1948 – Becoming The University of Nottingham In 1948, the college was awarded the Royal Charter and became The University of Nottingham, now able to award degrees in its own name. During this period the School of Agriculture was established when the Midland College of Agriculture at Sutton Bonington merged with the University.

The Cookery Courses Courses are either half-day or full-day. On the full-day course, attendees will spend the morning or evening preparing the recipes and then enjoy what they have prepared at a sit down meal. The courses are taught in a small group setting, with a mixture of hands-on cooking and demonstration, in a fun and friendly setting within our home. You can book a course as individuals, where you will have a chance to make new friends or book as a group of friends, family or work colleagues, to have a fun day together! The cooking classes offer a great team building opportunity. As such, I also run Corporate and Team Building workshops. There are further courses specifically for children and young persons ( I am DBS registered) and those with particular dietary requirements. Please contact me for further information. There is something for everyone! Book to attend for special occasions, be they birthdays, anniversaries, Valentines, Mother’s and Father’s Day or other personal milestones – the list goes on. If so, you are NOT alone!  These are some of the things that I've seen and heard over the years that I've been teaching, and I thought them too! There IS a way to prepare for a positive birth, and it's not all woo woo and weird. It's based in physiology (how the body works) and psychology (how the mind works). Put those together and you've got the basis of hypnobirthing. Many think that hypnobirthing is simply controlled breathing and some pictures of roses, but is is so much more. . . and you learn why breathing and pictures are helpful too.  Not only do you learn about the techniques you learn how to navigate the maternity systems that are in your area, and how to get the best birth with the resources available.  In my courses you will learn: * physiology of birth - how the body works in labour and birth * hypnotherapy for birth - releasing fears and building confidence * techniques for birth - breathing and practical applications * birth positions - why different postures matter * birth partners - how to be an amazing birth partner * the system - how to understand and navigate the maternity system in your area * labour and birth - what it looks like, feels like and when to use the techniques your used * place of birth - where can you have your baby? What options do you have? And much, much more. You have options of online, in person, group and private courses. Groups are kept small so that you can have as personalised experience as possible. Private classes are bespoke to you, with options for times, dates, location and content. With nearly 20 years experience of teaching hypnobirthing to parents, midwives, obstetricians and mentoring, I have the knowledge and experience to help you to have a wonderful birth.
