It was a question I asked myself a hundred times a day once I had made the decision to leave my marriage. Many things flashed before my mind - child, money, work, ME. I had great family and some good friends but I was still very lost and emotional, yet in possibly one of the worst times of my life I needed to make life-changing decisions about my future. It wasn’t easy. In fact at times it was almost unbearable, Police were involved, solicitors, mediators, the works. It was heart breaking, and complicated and I felt like I was poking around in the dark a lot of the time, but I came out the other side still in one piece, feeling positive and strenghthened by what I had been through with the help of a coach. It wasn't just during the divorce that I needed a coach...I mean what did the life of a single lady look like? I had a toddler, a house, and a business and again I was lost, whilst stronger and more resilient than ever before I wanted a new chapter to start, and working with my Coach my life changed. I am an NLP practitioner, Reiki Master and have a diploma in counselling. From 2006 I grew a coaching and healing business based in Bristol and then decided to niche into Divorce Coaching as there wasn’t anything like that available in my area. And here I am. I offer 1:1 coaching sessions and workshops, and for clients who want it I provide a service that runs alongside with their solicitor so that they are focussed and ready when they arrive and can make clear and well informed decisions.

We support our Members in developing their practices by giving them access to project spaces, workshop areas, and inviting them to contribute to our Members’ Programme, a public arts programme led by our membership. SET is currently home to over 500 artists and has a membership of over 1000. SET hosts artists working in a variety of practices and disciplines from text, performance and installation to music, sound, print, textiles and more. SET currently has 6 centres in London. The SET New Cross project space is home to our main exhibition programme, whilst SET Dalston hosts our social space & bar and our performance space & music venue. Each SET centre is home to a variety of artists workspaces: from desk space to light industrial units. Each SET centre is hosted in otherwise vacant property, some temporary and some long term. Amongst our group of instructors we have qualified bike mechanics, ‘Breeze’ leaders, British Cycling coaches and experience of working with disabilities. Our Bikeability instructors also deliver our balance bike programme and adult cycle training. Our sister company Inclusive Pedals CIC is a social enterprise delivering many community cycling initiatives (Dr Bike, Adapted Cycling, Cycling Without Age & 'Couch to 10 Miles') with the same staff involved as well as a team of volunteers. Wheely Fun Wheels Ltd is based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The business is run by Alastair Meikle who was raised in Chesterfield and after leaving school spent 30 years working for the Civil Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic Services. One of a very few people who regularly cycled to work at the London Air Traffic Control Centre! Following his decision to leave air traffic control he spent a year touring Europe in a motorhome with his family and bicycles before relocating back to Chesterfield and starting Wheely Fun Wheels. Alastair was the winner of the national Modeshift award in 2017 'Individual Contribution to Sustainable Travel' and in 2019 delivered practical training workshops at the national Bikeability conference. Whilst we are often on our bikes for our daily transport needs most of us also tour on our bikes, do the occasional race and take part in sportives, one of our instructors organises long distance rides in the Peak District. Instructors are members of Chesterfield Cycle Campaign. Check out local cycling maps and route suggestions on their website. Eden’s Trust (registered charity No. 1136092) was set up by Elli Galvani after her daughter, Eden Galvani-Skeete, was tragically killed at a five star resort in Turkey in 2006 when an entertainment stunt went wrong. As the evening got underway, a wall of fire was lit but when a waiter tried to light a second line of fire, the bottle of flammable liquid he was holding caught alight and exploded, sending fireballs into the audience. Eden took the brunt of the explosion and was on fire from head to toe, suffering 70% burns. Two days later on 31 July 2006, after suffering two heart attacks and kidney failure, Eden died. She was just six years old. As Elli tried to come to terms with Eden’s death, she became painfully aware of a gap in specialised counselling so decided to set up support/survival groups and workshops especially for people who have lost a child. The groups, launched in May 2013, are FREE to attend thanks to special funding sourced by Elli. More information can be found on our Support Groups page. We also support bereaved children in a school setting and offer  training courses to school staff on bereavement counselling and benefits of early intervention.'

It’s obvious to us that diversity problems won’t be solved by panel discussions or in echo chambers. And so we designed The Blueprint mark. Its purpose is simple: to help talented Black, Asian, Mixed Race and Ethnic Minority pros get the careers they deserve, and to help organisations genuinely committed to diversity to benefit from their talent. In 2018 and 2019 we brought together two genuinely diverse groups to work together to come up with solutions to the PR industry’s diversity problem. They included rising stars and powerhouses with incredible careers. They included in-house pros and agency heads, crisis comms specialists and an award-winning creative. There was a Mum of twins, an ex-soldier, a counsellor and a councillor. A D&I specialist, a healthcare policy expert, a disability campaigner (with great hair!) and a kick-ass HR director. There was a born and bred Mancunian, a Scot, Nigerians, a Jamaican and even someone from the exotic land of Leamington Spa. In mixed groups they were introduced to a number of harrowing case studies based on the experiences of people working in PR and comms and ran through a series of exercises. They leaned into the uncomfortable, they laughed, they listened and they worked. Through those workshops, The Blueprint was born. And those incredible individuals? They serve as advisory board members (meeting three times a year and shaping our work) and consultants (on hand to provide an additional steer). As for day-to-day? The Blueprint is delivered by Blueprinted, a company with purpose led by founder Elizabeth Bananuka and Project Manager Olivia Danso, with the support of NEDS Anouchka Burton and Daljit Bhurji. Profits from The Blueprint are used to support the work of BME PR Pros.

Scottish BPOC Writers Network (SBWN) is an advocacy and professional development group for Scottish or Scotland-based writers and literary professionals who identify as BPOC (Black people, People of Colour).* Contact us Frequently Asked Questions Membership Membership is free and open to any BPOC* writer or literary professional who is Scottish and/or based in Scotland and participates in our online or venue-based events or spaces, or publishing or literary opportunities. Membership may be extended to BPOC writers or literary professionals based outwith Scotland on occasion. Commissioned artists will typically be from the BPOC and/or SBWN communities. SBWN may work with volunteers, partners and allies who identify as BPOC, or white, or another racial or ethnic identity. Some events or activities may be open to the general public or the wider literary community. We have adopted a Constitution. Last modified: 04/10/2019 International courses and workshops for researchers writing for refereed journal publication Great writing is not primarily about grammar or even about word choice. It’s about structure, and more specifically about putting information where readers have been trained to see it. However, this is not what most people are taught. Writers are often handed a lot of “rules” that do little or nothing to improve their writing. You probably know them: Avoid passives. Vary your language. Shorten sentences. Paragraphs must have an explicit topic sentence, 3 supporting sentences and a concluding sentence. Jargon sounds academic. Data equals thinking. Write the way you talk. Fix your grammar and you’re fine. Word choice is everything. Sentences should be under 29 words long. Never start a sentence with but, however or because. Never split infinitives. And so on… These are both disempowering and (in the main) untrue, yet many teachers continue to dish them out. This course is different – really different. In the 10-week course, five class sessions are concerned with structures that will help participants produce a first draft. The next five sessions cover, in detail, a dynamic system for altering that first draft, making it understandable to others without following any of the above ‘rules’. The intensive 5-day course begins with a first draft, and consists of morning group sessions based on that draft, followed by afternoons revising (first for structure and content, but in the last three days also for readability). A selection of topics will be omitted from the 5-day course. The course continues with email support as needed until the article is submitted to a refereed journal (and through the entire revision and acceptance process)
