Leona Creator of Artists Resource & Lead Facilitator Leona created Artists Resource in 2011 with the Mission “To bring people together, to nurture Creativity and facilitate Transformation – for the benefit of the individual and the community.” She started with one small Art club in North London and in just a couple of years had grown to teaching in Schools every day and hosting Art Parties and Classes at the weekend. In 2018-19, Leona has provided Art workshops for the England football team and BAFTA. Leona has a strong background in material processes and techniques, having a degree in Applied Arts and applying that throughout her career. Prior to setting up Artists Resource, Leona worked for a Art & Craft company, managing concession stands in Harrods, Hamleys and UK Trade Fairs and made Mosaic Murals for School Playgrounds with a local Artist. She also worked on the Art Dept for various independent short and feature films. Leona has specialised in Sculpture and Mosaic Art has her own Public Artworks in Mile End (E3), Muswell Hill (N10) and in various public and private sites in London. I have been sewing for as long as I can remember, starting with making dolls clothes as a child, and later progressing onto dressmaking and then quilting. I attended courses and over the years have developed my own style and designs. My aim is to give this traditional craft a contemporary twist with the use of vibrant colours and bold designs. I make all the quilts myself in my home studio. I have a flair for combining colours to create a strong visual impact The inspiration for many of my designs comes from the countryside and creatures which surround me, from pecking chickens, frisking horses and buzzing bees to poppy fields and beautiful garden flowers. My quilts are exhibited at national craft fairs throughout the UK and have been featured in 'Country Living' and 'Aspire magazines'. They are shipped worldwide. Quilting Workshops... Would you like to spend a relaxing and stress free day or weekend? Would you like to learn to quilt? Come along to one of my quilting workshops, run regularly across Herefordshire and Wales. It had been strongly suggested at school that I didn’t continue with the sewing classes, after I cut my skirt along the fold line of the pattern, made a pigs ear of the french seams in the nightie and did who knows what damage to the domestic science apron (all we had to do was hem it and chain stitch our initials!). Those were the 3 projects for that year! Dismal! But I went home, told Auntie Mary about it and in a weekend she taught me more than I had learnt in the whole year. And inspired me to create things of beauty! I entered – and got first prize in the dressmaking competition at school the next year! My initial interest in quilts came from the Laura Ashley patchwork packs from the 1970s and 80s. Laura Ashley fed my passion for colour by selling me various bags of fabric – off-cuts, pre-cut hexagons – the lot, and with these I started my journey into quilt making. As a primary school teacher in the 80s I ran quilting clubs and worked with the children to create items for school fetes and the like. At this time I was a teacher member of the Quilters’ Guild and supported the Young Quilters team with a variety of workshops. I am no longer involved with Young Quilters though I have maintained my involvement with the Guild, serving as Festival of Quilts Officer from 2016 until 2021 and as a Trustee from 2021. I began to make quilts seriously in 1995 after I first attended a workshop taught by Judith Wilson in St Albans. Following this super introduction, I attended a number of courses taught by Judith over the next few years. I then successfully completed the City & Guilds Certificate in Craft and Design (Patchwork & Quilting) at Missenden Abbey taught by Barbara Weeks and, after a few years break, the City & Guilds Diploma in Craft and Design (Patchwork & Quilting) at Missenden Abbey taught by Janice Gunner. I have been influenced by the quilts exhibited at The American Museum, Bath and the V&A; and by many different quilters, a few of whom are referenced in my blog. My inspiration comes from the natural world, folk traditions, story and music and I am particularly drawn to Modern and Improv quilting. This adventure in craft and design, through quiltmaking, has led both directly and indirectly to some of the pieces on this website…. take a peek!

My name is Linda and I have been working full time growing and selling flowers since 2014. Prior to this I worked in the constrution industry for many years, initially in administration and marketing, followed 12 years as PA to the Chairman, through the highs and lows building roads and sewage systems! Then a move into the IT department managing the teams installating IT and telecoms on big construction sites and a lot less exciting stuff resulting in spending far too much time on Doncaster railway station. Time for a change!! Joining the fledgling organisation Flowers from the Farm (FFTF) in 2012 when members numbered around 50, led to becoming co-ordinator for the East Midlands region in 2015 and Co-Chair for a two year fixed term 2018-20. Since I joined FFTF has grown to nearly 1000 members championing local grown flowers. My business increased from selling a few bunches of flowers a week to supplying flowers and floristry for weddings, funerals and in 2020 a big expansion in selling flowers to the general public, followed by a return to farmers’ markets in 2021 where from March to September you will find The Spotted Dog at Brigg, Lincoln and Saxilby. My flowers are grown with the environment in mind. The poly tunnel is unheated, the greenhouse uses electric for only two months of the year, the flowers pesticide free and tonnes of compost are supplied from our own horses and livestock every year, supplemented by bulk green waste. Flowers are supplied wrapped in kraft paper or re-useable vases or buckets depending on volume supplied! I use primarily British flowers, either grown by myself or sourced from other growers, locally in Lincolnshire and Cornwall early/late season. On very rare occasions I will use carefully sourced imported flowers if needed for the work being undertaken although more and more customers are requesting “only British” and are happy to work with the seasons. Media mentions have included BBC Radio 4 Open Country with Helen Mark on her programme ‘Inspired by Flowers in Lincolnshire’, Radio 4 ‘Farming Today’ during British Flowers Week, Radio Newark with Girls About Town, BBC television for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018 when I was filmed cutting flowers to ready to transport to London for use in the Flowers from the Farm exhibit when the amazing team won a gold medal. There have also been articles in My Weekly Magazine, Flower Arranger magazine, The Gainsborough Standard, The Lincoln Business Journal and in 2020 The Daily Telegraph in an article about the flower industry during the Covid pandemic. In 2021 I was delighted to welcome Lizzie Musham from BBC Radio Lincolnshire for a field walk ahead of FFTF Flower Farmers Big Weekend and we met up again in November when she joined one of our wreath making workshops at The Cross Keys Stow and made a wreath live on air! I’m passionate about promoting natural funeral flowers suitable for green burial grounds, never use floral foam and in 2020 became an associate member of the Association of Green Funeral Directors. My wedding flowers have appeared on Love My Dress and Rock My Wedding blogs and I undertake weddings only within a 50 mile radius of my home.

I love old jewellery, new jewellery, vintage finds, minimal jewellery and downright fussy jewellery, mostly I am excited about handmade, unusual jewellery that has been designed with love and attention to detail. The North Wales Cruising Club was founded in 1928 for yachtsmen and boat owners who enjoy sailing to the beautiful anchorages and marinas of Anglesey and the Irish Sea. On the water events are arranged throughout the year, including weekend trips to the Menai Strait and around Anglesey as well as longer trips which take advantage of the expansive sailing area to the Isle of Man, Ireland and the West Coast of Scotland. Weekend Residential Opportunities – 48hrs weekend residential trips with venues to include Pioneer Centre @ Cleobury Mortimer, Alton Towers Resort and Chester City Break (including Chester Zoo visit and more). Life Skills Project – Small group Life Skills Project to focus on individual needs whilst developing independence through lifelong learning and community integration. Holly Taylor has over 14 years of experience working within the education and social care sector. 7 years specifically managing social care provisions for Children and Adults with additional needs. Qualified with a BA hons degree and Early Years Professional Status (level 6), Previous roles include working in Early years provisions, mainstream school support, family support worker, case worker and now as proud Co-Owner and Director of Service Delivery of Taylor Support. Holly is the registered CQC manager and Safeguarding trainer. Holly feels that through the varied roles she has carried out, in particular supporting families to best meet needs, leading on reviews, EHCP meetings, liaising with professionals, to being the service lead locally for the short breaks activity offer for children and young adults with additional and complex needs provides her with a holistic view and experience to best support the business. Holly loves her role now managing a company focused on providing bespoke and personalized support for vulnerable children, young people, adults and families as well as maintaining direct face to face work to ensure the service meets the needs of the people they provide a service for.
