IICCT Level 1 Chocolate Tasting is a certified course. It lays the sensory foundation for your journey as a Chocolate Taster, introduces chocolate making in the fine and craft chocolate world, and takes you through where cacao comes from and how it is produced. The course and teaching will we led by IICCT Teacher, Chocolate Educator and International Chocolate Judge Kathryn Laverack in her home town of Louth in Lincolnshire, within driving distance of the UK's first micro-batch chocolate maker Duffy's Chocolate.

A single day knife making course is a great way to make yourself an item that will last a lifetime, on this one day course we forge a small knife with a simple ash handle. A knife is one of the oldest tools ever made by humanity and it is one that invokes many emotions to people when they see and use it for a productive task. When doing a knife making course here at Bearded Pig Forge we will discuss the fine details of a knife and how they are made as well as the history of forging them.  On the course you will learn the basics of forging a blade and heat treating them in order to get the best results from the high carbon steel, we will also be learning how to fit and shape handles by using a burn through technique to attach the blade to the handle. Courses are £160 Per person per day.  I run a strict cancellation policy. The course is held over an intense three days and provides fuller understanding of fine chocolate and its flavour possibilities. Taught in-person by a teaching team led by IICCT Teacher, Chocolate Educator and International Chocolate Judge Kathryn Laverack with a half a day taught at the micro-batch chocolate factory with Duffy Sheardown at Duffy's Chocolate.

A two day knife making course is a great way to make yourself an item that will last a lifetime, on this two day course we forge a larger knife with a wooden handle, most students choose to do a kitchen knife but more elaborate bushcraft knives and athames have also been made. A knife is one of the oldest tools ever made by humanity and it is one that invokes many emotions to people when they see and use it for a productive task. When doing a knife making course here at Bearded Pig Forge we will discuss the fine details of a knife and how they are made as well as the history of forging them.  On the course you will learn the basics of forging a blade and how to effectively heat treat them in order to get the most use out of the blades as well as techniques for sharpening and honing blades. Courses are £300 Per person per two days. All courses must be paid for a minimum of 14 days in advance to secure the date.  I run a strict cancellation policy. A tiny oasis in the middle of your month, these 90-minute sessions will give you space to breathe, practice yoga, journal and relax.  A chance to check out of your busy life and check in with yourself. No yoga experience necessary, just a desire to have a little breather from it all. Aimed at anyone who needs some respite and would like to explore body, mind and soul practices in a gentle and non-threatening way.  A typical session might include: 40 mins gentle yoga asana 25 mins personal reflection (eg: journalling, walking meditation, or another creative prompt) 5 mins breath meditation 20 mins yoga nidra  We will be exploring the following themes this year: October: Teresa of Avila November: Letting Go December: Advent/ Expectant Hope January: The Gifts of Winter Darkness February: Love March: Lent April: No Session May: Spring/ Resurrection June: TBC July: The Gifts of Summer August: No Session My aim is that you will leave each session feeling more relaxed, centred and peaceful than when you arrived. I also hope that you will have a good night of sleep after you've been here! Location: These sessions are run in the barn on our property on the edge of Warwick. Detailed directions will be sent in advance of the sessions. The barn is best accessed by car.  As well as being a trained yoga teacher (CYT200), I am a spiritual director and retreat leader in the contemplative Christian tradition. These sessions are designed to be accessible to people of any faith persuasion or none. 

An introduction course is a great way to learn about the amazing craft of blacksmithing, the course will teach you the basics of forging and making decorative work for your home and you will have something you have made to take home with you and enjoy.  On the course we will make a twisted and scrolled fire poker and a hook to hang it, if we have time we may also make another small item such as a bottle opener or key ring Courses are £150 Per person per day  I run a strict cancellation policy. The three day course allows us to focus on the more refined shapes of a knife specifically designed for cooking, on this course we will forge a matched pair of knives, a small pairing knife and a larger kitchen knife both with a hidden tang and two part handle in the Wa style.  The extended length of the course allows students to focus on getting a clean shape and flowing lines as well as a thing and practical blade for cooking. Please note this course is only held three times a year.  I run a strict cancellation policy.
