Mental Health "First Aid" Training

Mental Health First Aid course teaches you how to respond to common mental health problems and the importance of mental health first aid.

Become a Mental Health First Aid Champion Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course, which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and to provide help on a first aid basis. This course is designed for people who want to promote and positively affect attitudes on mental health in the workplace.

As an organisation that takes seriously the wellbeing of our clients and recognises the significant stresses that leadership and management roles place on those that hold those positions - as well as the general mental health crisis faced across the UK - Leadership Management International (UK) have partnered with the excellent Mindcare Training to promote this Mental Health First Aider course run by Mindcare Director, Louise Larkum.

Providing Guidance & Support for MHFAiders: giving reassurance they are not alone. Our MHFAider guidance & support forums are tailored to provide MHFAiders with the clarity they need to excel in their role. We believe it's important to offer a safe space for MHFAiders to discuss their role, while staying up to date with the latest best practices and information.

This online course trains you as a Youth Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®), giving you: * An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing * Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues  * Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress * Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening  * Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate * Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive * Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing  Format * This is an online course delivered through the MHFA England Online Learning Hub * Learning takes place through four live training sessions spread across one to two weeks, with self-learning activities in between.
