About the School of English The study of English at the University of St Andrews has a long and distinguished history that is sustained in the scholarly, critical, and creative dynamism of today's School of English. The Yorkshire Dales Centre was established in October 1975 at the Yorkshire Centres, West & North Groups AGM at the Winter Gardens Ilkley. The Yorkshire Dales Centre was fully formed from 1st January 1976 with a chairman Mr Roy Knowles. In January 1976 the first YDC brochure was produced in the style of a “cheque book”. The first rally 13-15 February 1976 and had a valentines theme, it was held at Old Bilton with a rally fee of £1.30p . On the 26-28th March 1976 the centre held its christening & dedication rally at Pool Bank (Chevin Park). September 1978 the first YDC organised Three Peaks Walk took place that grew & grew until some 120 walkers registered to take part, with a briefing Saturday morning at 7.30am. In 1984 at the AGM there were 262 voting members present and 1985 272 which included 28 Teenagers. April 1982 the centre hosted its 500th rally at Ripley Castle. April 1987 the centre hosted its 1000th rally at Bolton Abbey (rather wet venue). July 1996 21st year Thorp Perrow. July 2000 silver jubilee & millennium rally at Woodhouse Grove School Appley bridge. July 2005 30th year celebration rally Pateley Bridge. April 2009 2500th rally at Harewood House. April 2015 40th year celebration at Harewood House. We are currently starting to look for a venue so we can begin preparations for our 50th Birthday in 2025.

Businesses in the Southern and Western areas of Bracknell voted in favour of plans to set up a Business Improvement District (BID) to run from 1st April 2020 – 31st March 2025. The positive ballot result follows 18 months of planning, in-depth interviews, surveys and workshops and a month-long ballot in which businesses in the area were asked to vote on the proposals. 63% of votes cast voted in favour of the BID by total number of businesses, and 88% of votes cast voted in favour of the BID by Rateable Value. As a result of the yes vote, the Bracknell Business Improvement District (BID) started on 1st April 2020. Businesses with a rateable value of £12,001 or above will pay a levy based upon their rateable value, creating a collective fund of more than £3 million to spend over the next five years. The plans were driven by a steering group of business representatives from across the area, who have now formed the Bracknell Investment Group Ltd. This is the company that will manage the BID. Bracknell BID is governed by a board of directors of the Bracknell Investment Group. The BID Board consists of representatives from all sectors within the BID area to ensure balanced representation. Directors are volunteers from businesses and partner organisations who give up their time for free. They are supported by Partnerships for Better Business Ltd, who develop and deliver Business Improvement Districts across the country.

If you're moving into Leeds or want to change schools in Leeds, you need to make a school transfer – often called an in-year application. Moving schools can be a difficult experience for a child. You should always speak to your child's current school before trying to move to see what support they can offer you How to apply for an in-year place We are part of the Leeds coordinated in-year application scheme. This means you can apply for a place online using the Leeds in-year application form at Before you move schools (leeds.gov.uk). You can apply for places at our school and most other Leeds schools at the same time on this form. If you have moved house, please upload evidence of the house move with the online application. You can find out what you need to provide on the above website. We have to offer places by applying our admission policy criteria to your child’s application and we will contact you with our decision about offering you a place. We will tell you our decision no later than 15 school days from when you apply. If we cannot offer you a place, we will write to you to explain the reasons, explain how you can appeal and add your child to our waiting list in case a place becomes free. Our waiting lists are kept until end of each school year. You will need to make a new application if you want to be on the waiting list for the following school year. Sholfins Swim School CIC is a not-for-profit company born from a passion and love for swimming. We are extremely passionate about our community. Our aim is to try and remove as many barriers as possible, preventing our community of Redditch from learning to swim. The team at Sholfins recognise that due to the pandemic there has been a huge impact on children having access to water in their early years. A number of primary/middle schools have also been unable to provide this life skill to their pupils prior to the pandemic for several different reasons, therefore, falling short of the national curriculum requirements, through no fault of their own. Swimming and water safety has been a statutory element of the national curriculum for physical education in England since 1994. This means that every 11-year-old child should leave primary/middle school with the skills to keep themselves safe. Swimming lessons provide all children with vital skills to help with survival and this is no different for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). By 2025, over 780,000 children with SEND will be in the education system. However, inequalities in the ability of schools and teachers to offer high quality opportunities for them to participate in PE, School Sport or Physical Activity still exist, with disabled young people twice as likely to be physically inactive as non-disabled people. The focus on the new revised Ofsted inspection framework is also an area of consideration for schools to bare in mind. At Sholfins we believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim. All of our instructors are Level 2, Swim England qualified and have RLSS Lifeguard, First Aid and Safeguarding Qualifications. The team are passionate about teaching and ensure that each child is given the support and encouragement to become water confident no matter what age. We are registered with Swim England and follow the learn to swim programme and the School Swimming and Water Safety charter.

The author of the courses, Gwynne Richards has over thirty-five years’ experience in warehouse management and logistics. Roles included Business Development Manager, Regional Manager, National Sales Manager, Customer Services and IT Manager. He founded his own logistics consultancy and training company in 2003.
