Barrhead High is a six year non-denominational, comprehensive school serving the town of Barrhead. We work closely with our three associated Primary Schools, Carlibar, Cross Arthurlie and Hillview to support families and improve outcomes for all. As a Rights Respecting School, we have an inclusive ethos based on mutual respect. We started our life as Mitchell Walk Playgroup. In June 2014 we became Holding Hands Pre-School and moved into our current setting. We gained our third consecutive outstanding OfSted rating in March 2018. We pride on ourselves in welcoming all children and families no matter what their ability, background and beliefs. We accept referrals from agencies such as Brokerage, Carers Bucks and Family Centres as well as applications directly from parents. We deliver a holistic educational and multi-sensory experience day by day by not only embracing our outside areas but also by delivering specifically designed small group and interventional activities encouraging emotional well being, speech and language and closing peer development gaps through early identification. We give our children every opportunity to discover their world. We encourage them to explore their environment in a safe supported way. Bee Happy Babies started as a vision between two friends to create a baby massage instructor course just for healthcare professionals. Drawing on our physiotherapy and teaching backgrounds we have developed an evidence-based course bringing together the latest research in baby massage and infant development to train professionals and parents in the power of touch. Our evidence-based, CPD-certified, on-demand course consists of 8 modules including anatomy and physiology, the benefits of baby massage and how to teach baby massage. I am an experienced Paramedic, a qualified First Aid Instructor and, perhaps most importantly, a Mum with a clear understanding of the worries faced by parents and carers when looking after small children. Through my years of working on an emergency ambulance, I know only too well the significant difference quick actions of first aiders can make. On the other hand, I have also witnessed how few people out there have the knowledge and skills to deal with life threatening situations. I firmly believe that everyone should have basic First Aid skills.
