Welcome to our Outstanding Chinese Academic School It is our pleasure to welcome new and returning students to Hua Hsia in 2022. We hope you have all had a lovely summer! As always during these summer months, we take a step back to unwind and relax while awaiting the GCSE and Pre-U results of our students who have worked tirelessly to secure themselves top grades. The good news arrived earlier this week and we are delighted to announce this year’s cohort achieved outstanding GCSE and Pre-U results! Our GCSE group, made up of 10 students (7 in class and 3 private), achieved nine 9 grades (highest possible grade, akin to an A*) and one 8 grade. This keeps us in line with our 100% grade 8-9 track record and even gives us a 90% grade 9 achievement rate. Our Pre U group, made up of 3 students (all in class), achieved 2 Distinctions and 1 Merit. These brilliant outcomes are well deserved and are a testament to both the talent and dedication of pupils and staff, and to the quality of education maintained throughout the last two-and-a-half years even with all the speed bumps along the way. A very special thanks to Teachers Katja, Nicole, and Joseph for supporting students to unlock their full potential. The return of public exams has given the students the opportunity to clearly demonstrate the fruits of their continued hard work and focus during the challenges of the pandemic, especially in a period where nationally pupils were being warned of lower grades. Thankfully, things here have since rebounded as strongly as ever, with these pupils, and the School as a whole, able to look forward with optimism to what comes next. We look forward to seeing you all on the 10th and 11th of September, as we reopen our doors for another academic year.

We are a London-based tuition agency whose focus is the provision of quality, young and dedicated tutors in South and central London. We stand out by using youthful bright academic students, often in University, who have a raw passion for instilling knowledge in those of younger years. youthempowermentThe result is a team of enthusiastic, professional young adults with a vision, without a means to materialise it. We are a medium from them to you, the client. Our tutors are chosen very carefully so that we provide the highest level of service possible. We make sure that every tutor is fully vetted and has an Enhanced DBS Criminal Background check [Formerly Enhanced CRB Checks]. Those on the DBS Update Service we re-check at interview. We interview ALL applicants personally. There is no such thing as too much safety. Why us? Personal attention is key at Scholarly. We acknowledge and recognise different learning styles with each student specific to the subject. Some subjects favour certain learning styles over others. With this in mind, we specifically match each tutor to the criteria of the learner. Therefore, our tutors don’t just act as an academic but rather a mentor. Innovation fuels Scholarly. With our tutors still in education, this provides a more responsive and engaging experience. Furthermore, all our tutors attend Russell Group Universities so are at the forefront of research and innovation of whatever field their in, daily. This gives students an insight into where their skill set can get them. Our tutors have excelled in their GCSE’s as well as A-Levels. Therefore, this creates an ideal tutor who can advise based on the first-hand experience. ‘Experience is the teacher of all things’ downloadLastly, we love to invest in the future generation. This is the basis of one of our partner group, Worth of Mouth, we believe employing, engaging and educating our youth is the biggest and most worthwhile investment we as a community can ma

Richmond

The 5Rhythms comprise a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every body, no matter what its shape, size, age, limitations and experience. To find your dance is to find yourself, at your most fluid and creative level. While the practice itself is the essence of simplicity, it has the power to catalyse deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: if you put the body in motion the psyche will heal itself. The 5Rhythms are flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. They come together to create the Wave, a movement meditation practice. Rather than having steps to follow, each Rhythm is a different energy field in which you find your own expression and choreography, thereby stretching your imagination as well as your body. Each Rhythm is a teacher and you can expect to meet different and sometimes unknown aspects of yourself as your dance unfolds and your practice of the Rhythms deepens over time. The Rhythms are the foundation of Gabrielle Roth’s body of work, a series of healing maps for the body, heart, mind, soul and spirit that provide a lifetime of self discovery and a path to awakening. What happens on the dance floor? In every class or workshop, there is always a wide range of experience in the 5Rhythms work – from first timers to certified Wave addicts. The teacher will be following the energy in the room. So, while the essential map is 5Rhythms, the teacher might take the class through the entire Wave or focus on just one Rhythm or one facet of a Rhythm. The Rhythms themselves are gateways to literally thousands of different movement landscapes. Like the body, they are alive and designed to catalyse the dancer’s movement expression in the moment. You are different every time you walk into the room, so is the group and so is your teacher. Therefore, each class holds unique possibilities.

The Orry Mill

Glasgow

The name ‘The Orry Mill’ refers to the open space in Eaglesham known as ‘The Orry’ (Old Scots for 'area') in which there are the remains of a cotton mill. The mill and the village were designed by Lord Alexander Eglinton, but built by his brother Archibald. The Eglinton family were responsible for a series of cotton mills and key agricultural developments throughout the late 18th and early 19th Century. The area of Busby, Eaglesham, Clarkston and Newton Mearns as small villages all had water powered cotton mills, and this drove the development of these villages, the buildings, geography and layout as we see it now. The Orry Mill was started simply to be a lovely wee shop that sought to share our love of crafting and colour with the local community. The shop was to be more than a retail outlet, a place to visit and spend time in, to leave having learnt something new, or to have found something that inspired you just a little bit. We wanted to have a shop that was full of colour, where you would be surrounded by quality vibrant yarn, yet also be a calming, inspiring and tactile place where we curate a range of lovely things for people to craft with, and to provide support and advice to create something at a pace that suits you. The wider benefits of crafting are a given to all those that are already passionate about it, and there is real-world evidence that taking time to craft and develop your practice, is beneficial to your health. It creates ‘head-space’ to reflect, focus and quiet the busy mind in our unsettled times. These deliberate pauses we carve out for ourselves can be nurturing for body and mind and if we can help to encourage and support creating the time, space, and tools to do that, then that would make us very happy indeed.
