Students develop their understanding of the local community through varied community and business links and fundraising opportunities. Our new Science HUB, offers members of the community the chance to experience lectures from top scientists, which also supports our students’ exploration into high academic, aspirational career pathways. Our highly active and dedicated PTA offer a range of events throughout the year, for students and parents. Their hard work and effort continues to support our students by providing facilities such as a school minibus or covered seating areas. They are always looking for new members to support their on-going projects. We are entering a new and exciting time, which will see the school moving from strength to strength, building upon our current position as one of the highest attaining non-selective schools in Kent; with 61% of our students leaving with 5 A*-C including English and Maths. Together, as a school, we will be building an outstanding provision for the future, where students will take a highly active role within the wider school development and their own learning journey. Our students access a highly personalised curriculum which enables each individual to progress at a rate suitable to their needs. High Grange School’s multi-disciplinary approach incorporates best practices and autism-friendly strategies and supports in order to meet the educational needs of students who have ASD. Our students learn how to develop and use effective compensatory strategies to overcome difficulties in social and emotional processing, communication and flexibility in thinking and behaviour, all of which can combine to have a negative impact on their learning. The design of the school; its environment and facilities; and the structure and delivery of our educational programmes are created to reduce the stress and anxieties often associated with an autism spectrum condition. Our enabling teaching approach provides multiple physical and practical opportunities as well as visual supports for learning. This helps students to achieve their full potential by understanding and dealing with personal challenges while making the most of their abilities and strengths. Managing expectations realistically is a core part of our educational programme. Individualised Learning Plans are created for all students with input from the school’s specialist therapists. These plans include strategies to enable students to manage their anxieties; to regulate their emotional responses; and to reduce or eliminate negative and inappropriate behaviours which are preventing effective learning and positive social interactions. During the school day students have access to a varied and stimulating curriculum. The Classes are grouped by Key Stage and students are taught in small groups of up to 6. Teachers use detailed planning to ensure each individual is enabled to achieve in all areas. Classrooms are well-equipped and include specialist facilities for Music, Art & Design, D&T, Science, Computer Science and ICT, Food Technology and Performing Arts. High Grange has excellent PE facilities, including a swimming pool, large gymnasium, hard court areas and extensive grassed areas.

HOME / ABOUT Welcome to the New Garden Cities Alliance We are an alliance of organisations – commercial and not-for-profit – and as well as individuals – dedicated to promote the formation of new, genuine Garden Cities. Our aim is to work in partnership with existing bodies to establish standards for Garden Cities that Britain can be proud of. Also to establish exemplars for an environmentally sustainable society that promotes the wellbeing of all citizens. In particular we wish to set minimum standards for Garden Cities: 1. Being applied to establish new settlements or for transforming existing urban precincts; 2. To integrate the design of their invisible architecture of ownership, control and funding with their visible architecture to promote the common good; 3. That requires mutual ownership of all land to capture and share its value on negotiable basis with all residents be they homeowners or tenants; 4. To attracts investors, entrepreneurs, established and new businesses to add value to the community on basis that equitably shares any profits in excess of the incentive to invest; 5. With the capacity to become largely self-reliant in regards to the basic needs of its residents for water, food and energy and value adding activities to sustain citizen prosperity in perpetuity; 6. That inspires citizens, leaders, community groups, planners, architects and all other stakeholders to work together to a common vision of an ecologically sustainable, fair and equitable society. The New Garden Cities Alliance has been tasked by the signatories of the Letchworth Garden City Declaration to create a movement and organise the consensus to setup the mechanisms so that an agreed definition of what a Garden City is can take root and we can give new settlements the confidence to call themselves ‘Garden Cities’ if they meet a set of agreed social, planning and architectural criteria.
