Welcome to Workington Academy. We are an 11 -18 comprehensive school on the
North West coast of Cumbria, serving the community of Workington and the
surrounding area. Workington Academy is part of Cumbria Education Trust, a
family of schools who share the same vision for our community, to ‘Be the best
that you can be.’ At Workington Academy, we prepare our students to be lifelong
learners who will go on to contribute positively to the wider community. Above
all, we aim to develop an enthusiasm and thirst for learning. We want our
students to be confident, capable and happy young people who are hardworking and
achieve well in everything that they do. Our 3 core values are Respect,
Responsibility, and Resilience and it is through these values that we support
and guide our students to be tolerant of one another, to recognise individuality
and, at the same time, embrace collective responsibility. We have high
aspirations for our students and expect the best from everyone in ensuring that
our students succeed. We aim to make school an enjoyable and productive
experience for everyone, where every young person looks forward to the
possibilities of each day with energy and enthusiasm. We want all our students
to have every opportunity to embark upon pathways that lead to further academic
and career success and to be fully equipped for their life beyond school.
