Hi, I'm Georgina and I am a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. I am a mother of two children and have a background in Forensic Science and a BSc (Hons) degree in Zoology. I am also qualified in Anatomy & Physiology and Swedish Massage. I have also completed Story Massage training and am a Story Massage Instructor. More recently I have trained in children's mental health and well being and I am a qualified Relax Kids Coach. I love massage and initially learned infant massage when my first child was a baby. I discovered the benefits first hand and really enjoyed meeting a group of mums going through motherhood at the same time. I am still good friends with those mums and now twelve years on my children are still requesting massages! I qualified to teach infant massage to parents and primary carers with IAIM UK. IAIM is the International Association of Infant Massage and is world renowned for its excellence in promoting nurturing touch to babies. The IAIM massage course is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.

Our regular coffee mornings and evening meetings are informal and relaxed. We often invite guest speakers from education, health and early years to talk to parents about local SEND services and answer their questions. Even if a particular guest speaker does not interest you, there is always time for a chat and a hot drink at every meeting. Children are also welcome to attend. There is no pressure to come regularly or even stay for the whole session as we know that your free time can be limited and unpredictable. Events We run workshops and training events for parents on a wide range of SEND-related issues. As well as gaining expertise and insight, you will be supported by other parent carer trainers who may have lived through the stage of your ‘journey’ and who will have knowledge and information to share with you that could be really beneficial. We also organise information days which give parents, carers and young people the chance to meet local services and providers. Partnership working We work closely with Brent Council, health providers, schools and other organisations to help design and deliver local services that meet the needs of children and young people with SEND. We regularly attend their meetings and committees to feedback the views and experiences of our members. Parent carers can help to highlight problems that are frequently experienced by families of children with additional needs, and this knowledge is useful to help professionals make informed choices about local services. Evidence shows that this sort of active participation leads to improved service provision, take up and ultimately better outcomes for children and young people with SEND. WHO WE ARE The forum is an independent, parent-led organisation that helps bring together parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Brent. We help and support families of children with SEND by providing information, advice and a listening ear. By gathering ideas and feedback from our members, we also work closely with local organisations to positively improve the planning and delivery of services in Brent for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities. Set up in 2017, our forum is run by a friendly group of volunteers who are all parent carers and understand the issues and challenges that looking after a child with SEND can bring.

Welcome to Foxwood Academy and welcome to our website. Hopefully, you will find all of the information you need on our website but if you have any specific questions you can contact us directly at the Academy. The ‘Help for Everyone’ drop down menu on the far right hand side provides you with clips and links to videos that you might find really useful and the ‘Site Map’ section in the ‘About Us’ menu will take you to a list of everything on the website. We are a school for children and young people with SEND but also a school for parents and carers. We want to provide you with the support and help that you might need and hopefully this website is your first stop. The children, young people and staff at Foxwood are remarkable. We have just over 110 children and young people and approximately 60 staff. Our youngest children start at age 4 and our oldest leave us at the age of 18. All of our children and young people have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and all of our children have difficulties with cognition and learning. About 75% of our children would be described as children and young people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC or sometimes called ASD) and others can be described as having Sensory and /or Physical needs. We have a very strong set of core values here at Foxwood that guide us in every decision and action that we take. We believe in: Education – That every child with a special educational need deserves the best possible education available provided by the best teachers in the best schools and Academies. Independence – That every child and young person is given the opportunity to be as independent as they possibly can be. Celebration – That the children and young people should be happy here and celebrate their part in our community. Learning for Life – That Foxwood is a stepping-stone to bright futures. Futures where young adults can be happy, healthy, independent, and play an active part in society. Lots of parents and carers contact the Academy and the website to see if our context; or the children and young people that we teach, are similar to their children and young people at home. At diddi dance we realise and encourage endless enthusiasm and energy in an action packed, full of fun 45-minute dance class. Classes are suitable for toddlers when they are steady on their feet, so to see if your toddler will enjoy it why not contact your local diddi dance today to request a trial. Parents and carers are encouraged to join in and share the enjoyment with their diddi dancer. Week after week you will soon see their confidence blossom. We do realise that some toddlers are more confident than others and this is why we offer a trial, so you can be confident it’s a class they’ll enjoy. Bookings are then taken in half term blocks instead of having to book for a whole term.
