It has been called the Perfect Exercise because it’s accessible to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. The injury rate is low while the health and fitness benefits are high. The art of Tai Chi is probably the best known Chinese method of combining physical motion with mental stimulation and is recognised as one of the most effective approaches to fitness. It is estimated that more than two hundred million people are currently practicing it around the world and this number is ever increasing. Many actions of Tai Chi are based on circular movements which together with subtle shifting of weight develops flexibility and extremely good balance, making it ideal for all ages. It originated in the 17th Century in the Chen Village, China. Although currently better known for its health benefits, Tai Chi was first recognised as a fighting art. It is a graceful, slow-moving exercise and is different from most other forms of movement and exercise because it works directly with ones chi (qi or life force).

About us Daying education was established with the purpose of assisting Chinese students with their academic needs. Having worked in China at some of the leading Chinese ‘985’ universities, Joseph Simpson and Thomas Durham realized that while speaking to current and former students, the process of transitioning into foreign universities was never a straightforward task. Therefore, Daying Education was set up in order to facilitate students in attaining a place at a top university, by helping proofread personal statements, CVs and other application documents. With the experience of helping hundreds and thousands of students an exceptional standard is guaranteed. Additional services are targeted at current Chinese students abroad. We have found that after a student embarks on their degree, universities rarely offer the time or services to help students improve their academic skills or general level of English. Because of this, various study skill packages are offered which we at Daying believe are particularly necessary to help a student get the most out from their academic life. Family Origins... Spanning almost a hundred years, the story behind this restaurant the lives of three generations of remarkable Chinese women. Their extraordinary journey takes us from the brutal poverty of village life in mainland China, to newly prosperous 1930s Hong Kong and finally to the UK. Their lives were as dramatic as the times they lived through. A love of food and a talent for cooking pulled each generation through the most devastating of upheavals. Helen's grandmother, Lily Kwok, was forced to work as an amah after the violent murder of her father. Crossing the ocean from Hong Kong in the 1950s, Lily honed her famous chicken curry recipe. Eventually she opened one of Manchester's earliest Chinese restaurants where her daughter, Mabel, worked from the tender age of nine. But gambling and the Triads were pervasive in the Chinese immigrant community, and tragically they lost the restaurant. It was up to Helen and her sisters, the third generation to re-establish their grandmother's dream. The legacy lived on when the sisters opened their award-winning restaurant Sweet Mandarin in 2004.

Kelvin J. Birk produces jewellery as well as larger objects, mainly in silver and gold with all types of gemstones. Within his work he crushes precious gemstones and glues them back together, sometimes in a random uncontrolled shape, other times in a more controlled manner and then combines these stones with jewellery pieces or objects in precious metal. Within his work he is consciously disregarding what is traditionally considered precious. Birk revels in a lack of control, allows chaos to take over and the nature of the precious materials to dictate the final outcome of the pieces. His collection is constantly developing and through different creative processes new pieces emerge all the time, ensuring that no two are identical. Like the experiences of personal life, there is always destruction and loss yet out of these processes come new things and new orders. Kelvin J. Birk’s jewellery illustrates this theme of chaos and re-creation. There is always order in chaos, we lose things and we gain things. It is a constant. After Graduating in Goldsmithing and jewellery making at the Berufsfachschule fuer Glas und Schmuck, Germany, Kelvin J. Birk took his MA in Silversmithing and Jewellery (awarded with distinction) from the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art in London, UK (1997). Kelvin exhibited at various fairs and exhibitions in Great Britain, Europe, the USA, China and Taiwan. His work won him several prizes and awards and he received several grants from different funding bodies. His work has been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers and in a range of jewellery and design books. Kelvin is available for consultations and happy to discuss special commissions and bespoke pieces. He became a specialist in up-cycling old jewellery, where he recycles your unworn jewellery into a stunning new wearable piece of jewellery.

EPTA Europe is the umbrella organisation for all the European EPTA organisations. Founded by Carola Grindea in 1978 in London it has today grown along with the expansion of the European borders. EPTA - European Piano Teachers’ Association - unites Pianists and Piano teachers all over the world through its many EPTA Associations which all have regular activities . Every association organizes its own congresses, workshops, seminars, recitals, masterclasses and is committed to present Young Artists Platforms, Competitions and European Young Artists Festivals. An Annual Conference of all EPTA Associations is held every year in a different country under the presidency of the host Association. There is an EPTA in almost every European country and there are several outside Europe - these are EPTA Associates which include the USA and South America, Canada, India, China, Hong Kong , Israel, and Australasia. Every Association sends out information to the central EPTA News which gives current, detailed information of piano-related activities throughout the world.
