We are often called in where a business has significant challenges and have previously worked with other organisations who have failed to deliver the results required. One organisation we worked with had brought in three consultancies over the last 5 years and each time the consultants failed to listen to the needs of the organisation and tried to implement strategies they wanted to without addressing or agreeing on the objectives required. We bring in fresh perspective as our direct approach enables us to get to the route of the challenges and as we collect evidence, we have lots of conversations and observations to support our findings. Everything we do is in collaboration with the Leadership Team and their staff and this works as we have been where they are in our previous careers so we have empathy and understanding of how challenging and hard all of this can be for the Leadership Team and the people within the business. Our Story I set up Positive Qualities because I was bullied out of my last corporate job and I had a strong desire to make workplaces better. Workplaces where people could come to work and share ideas and feel safe and valued for their contribution and they never need to dim their light because they feel they haven’t got a voice. I started Positive Qualities because I felt there was a real need for it in business. The W.O.W Programme can help a business reach new targets, increase sales or achieve better customer and staff satisfaction. The W.O.W programme depends on communication, trust and belief. It’s very interactive, high energy and generates a feeling of belonging. It’s about building employee engagement, so employees feel physically, intellectually and emotionally attached to their work. We’re good at handling challenging situations and frequently we find the best results come from the most negative people,” W.O.W.programme is a business improvement programme and a process which is measurable and always has significant results. It empowers people and creates positive futures. I started by pitching to hotels I stayed in and the manufacturers of the cars I drove. I just felt compelled to start a company which I believed would be needed by these customers.

As mentioned earlier, Kagoshima area has a lot of myths as the place where Japanese gods (They are enshrined by Japanese Shinto shrines) descended to the peak of the Kirishima Mountain. The remains of people's livelihood as old as 13,000 years ago have also been found in many places in the area, due to its mild climate. Many foreign civilizations have been introduced through Kagoshima, southern front gate of Japan in its long history. Kagoshima used to be an area with exotic atmospheres, indicated by the name of places such as Soo, Ei and Tokara, those of which must be foreign origins. One of the examples of foreign civilizations can be Buddhism from China. The famous monk (Ganjin (668~763) who provided a great influence on Japanese Buddhism) landed at the southwest coast of Kagoshima where were favored with natural ports. Both Christianity (by Francisco de Xavier (1506~1552: Portuguese) and western gun have firstly brought to Japan in 16th century through Kagoshima. Due to the reason that the land of Kagoshima is mainly composed of volcanic ashes, and is not appropriate area for the rice production that was the base of Japanese economy, loads of Feudalism, Satsuma clan, had to find other source of income for their development. Major economic activities instead of rice production was foreign trade by smuggling under the circumstance that central feudal government (Tokugawa Shogunate: 1603~18674) prohibited (locked countries policy) to communicate with foreign countries except limited foreign trade through Nagasaki. Such informal communication with foreign countries was the base for Satsuma's modernization including introduction of modern military system and equipment in the end period of Tokugawa Shogunate. Such special situation of Satsuma clan compared with other clans in Japan made them together with Choushu (Clan corresponding to the current Yamaguchi Prefecture) lead the Meiji Restoration to change from being a feudal society to having a capitalist economy and left the Japanese with a lingering Western influence. As shown above, Kagoshima, Satsuma area is characterized as an area where have been actively communicated with foreign countries in Japan.

Bramfield House School was established in 1970 as a specialist provision for pupils with social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. It is an all boys establishment catering for an age range of 7-16 and is registered for 74 pupils. It is situated in rural Suffolk 10 minutes drive from the heritage coast. The residential accommodation consists of the main house sitting in 10 acres of gardens and 1 mile from the centre of the village of Bramfield. The classroom facilities are independently placed within the grounds and consist of purpose made specialist subject provisions. Alongside the school site we provide a separate residential accommodation called Ibstock House that caters for the further development of pupil’s independence skills. This house has its own designated classroom and gardens, approximately ¾ of an acre and can support up to 6 boarding pupils. Both can access the numerous on-site resources on offer, including an indoor heated swimming pool, gymnasium, multi-gym, pool tables and table tennis table, full size sports pitches and outdoor adventure trail, amongst a host of other in- house activities and interests. The ethos of the school is based on trust and mutual respect, providing the opportunity for every individual to maximise their own potential in a warm and caring environment. The pupils are supported in discovering their personal attributes, and to then themselves acknowledge these skills, building their confidence and self-esteem so that this can then be transferred and used to develop and enhance all areas of their social and educational development. The professional staff group engages with pupils to explore new and varied environments and interests, using these opportunities to build relationships and understanding, so that they may be better placed to provide individually tailored support to the pupil. The school is well aware of the difficulties that been previously encountered by the young people coming into our care and will start afresh, positively supporting the pupils individuality alongside promoting the value of appropriate social skills. We provide a clearly staged developmental pathway from nurturing to self-management and independence, with skilled staff and resources to assist in this journey.

ONE VOICE IS A VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY GROUP WHICH WAS FORMED IN 2009 AND HAS CONTINUED TO THRIVE WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITIES OF IMMINGHAM, HABROUGH AND STALLINGBOROUGH. One Voice continues to support the community of Immingham Habrough and Stallingborough and continues to reflect on the most effective way to do this. When the group was formed in 2009 until 2019 it ran with a committee structure is built around what residents felt was needed to ensure the community as a whole was represented, Key partners sat on the committee with a number of representatives who have an area of focus within the community. However in 2019 the formal structure of a constituted group was dissolved and the group became a steering group for the Charity One Voice Immingham District who were gifted all the assets and agreed to continue the projects that were being done under the group. This decision was made following specialist advice and support which concluded that this was the most effective way for One Voice to continue their work. OUR ROLE Obtain and maintain a balanced, reflective and representative membership of the local community, by bringing together community members on a regular basis in order to address community issues of common concern. Develop lines of communication, structures and relationships with residents; service providers and other community organisations to ensure that agreed actions are taken forward for the betterment of the local area. Lara has worked in a variety of settings including Early Intervention, hospitals, Schools and voice clinics. She is skilled at treating a wide range of speech, language and voice disorders. The lack of funded support and services offered to improve the life chances of neurodivergent children, particulary those considered to be at the high functioning end of the spectrum, has given her the determination to help empower other families in similar circumstances. amanda Amanda Nicolson is a dedicated and passionate Social Care Professional with substantial experience at senior management level and comes with a proven track record managing large services and staff teams. Amanda started her career in care homes for the elderly as a Carer. She also has vast experience working with various vulnerable groups including children and adults with learning disabilities, the elderly and those with mental health challenges. Amanda is passionate about quality service provision, social justice and meaningful inclusion. Amanda met Linda while they were both studying at university. Michelle’s professional background includes working as a counsellor/coach primarily within educational settings specifically working with students who are neurodivergent.
