Youth Justice Legal Centre

youth justice legal centre

London

The goal of YJLC to be a centre of excellence on youth justice law came at a time when very few resources existed for professionals and there was no requirement that lawyers representing children in the criminal justice have any kind of specialist training. The legal landscape has progressed in a short time, in no small part due to the work of YJLC. YJLC works in collaboration with civil society, legal bodies and educational entities to ensure that the capacity and knowledge of those working with children in the criminal justice system is constantly evolving and improving. It was always clear to us that children in the criminal justice system should be represented by specialists. The aim in creating YJLC was to fundamentally improve the way these children are represented. YJLC has exceeded those original dreams and continues to grow, support and celebrate this important community of people providing a key, frontline role in society. Shauneen Lambe, Co-Founder Just for Kids Law and Youth Justice Legal Centre Taking a global approach, evolving legal understanding domestically, the need for YJLC continues to be strong having become an established and respected sector leader. Ensuring that children who do end up in the criminal justice system get the best outcomes both legally and for their futures. YJLC, like all of the strands of work in Just for Kids Law, developed out of what the young people told us they needed. Sometimes the stories they told us of their experiences were funny, sometimes they made us furious but mostly we heard stories of a communication gaps and gaps in social understanding. To the young people we have worked with over the years, thank you, for inspiring, motivating and making even the driest parts of the work more enjoyable. If it wasn’t for you, for us, it wouldn’t be worth doing.

London

CTVC is a multi-BAFTA-winning and Grierson nominated independent production company producing content that raises important ethical and moral issues, from the perspective of all faiths and none. Broadcasting across all networks, both in the UK and internationally, our television, radio, education and online platforms aim is to get people thinking and talking. Established in 1978 by Lord and Lady Rank, CTVC is a registered charity which receives a grant from the Rank Foundation; a grant-giving charitable trust whose mission is to improve the lives of young and disadvantaged people and their communities, across the UK. The company ethos was sparked in the 1930s when, as a Sunday school teacher, J. Arthur Rank became frustrated by the limited teaching materials for children and decided to take matters into his own hands (a legacy we continue today through our subsidiary, TrueTube). He established the ‘Religious Film Society’ to produce films for schools and churches. From there the slate and variance of projects grew, and Lord Rank went on to purchase the Odeon Cinema chain and Elstree Studios, as well as set up the legendary Pinewood Film Studios. The Centre for Television and Communication, as it became known, saw the thriving operation move to newly built studios in a converted country house named ‘Hillside’. Based in Bushey, North London, an early production, Will the Real Jesus Christ Please Stand Up? featured a fresh faced, young Hugh Grant. In 2005 we changed our name to CTVC Ltd and although we have progressed with the rapidly changing media landscape, the principles laid out by Lord Rank’s vision are still at the heart of everything we do. Above all, CTVC are passionate believers in the power and importance of media to educate, challenge and inspire.

Things are complex, messy and paradoxical, right now. Challenging and difficult for many in organisations. So as a leader or someone responsible for navigating tough and changing times, it can be helpful to have someone alongside you, to help work with the tricky stuff. And most of it is tricky stuff, let’s be honest. I work as a coach. And I design and run leadership development programmes in addition to my work in the field of Organisation Development. And so: • Would you welcome a coach or ‘critical friend’ to support you as a leader? Maybe with a leadership transition? Or wanting to find new ways of working? Recognise that you need to show up differently? A place where you can be an unedited version of yourself. • Would you like your team to work more effectively together, be better than it currently is? Would you like the whole to be greater than the sum of its parts? For there to be more honest communication, or greater collaboration? • Or maybe you want to shift the culture of your leadership population and develop a particular strength in that group to move the organisation on? Or help people see the bigger picture, help them handle the pressure and complexity they face? Coloured 1 Whether it’s coaching, team or leadership development, I can help you face into what’s going on – within yourself, your team, the wider business and in society – and support you in making change, if that’s needed. My clients are as diverse as EY, Wickes, Jaguar Land Rover, the Civil Service and Diabetes UK. My work has a solid psychological underpinning to address personal change, plus a high-level systems thinking lens to ensure that my clients flourish within the bigger picture of their teams, organisations and wider lives. I also bring a strong focus on behavioural practices to create and embed change.

I help people think, learn & grow; I hold space to ponder, understand and make courageous choices; and I hope to inspire the world to embrace their life, work and "human condition" in all its beautiful and challenging facets. I especially enjoy working with leaders, coaches and people who consider themselves in a "position of great responsibility". I help them navigate the big and small questions of life and business. My work is evidence-based, informed by positive psychology and other branches of science and is grounded in the philosophical framework of existentialism. This unique combination will help you understand what drives your behaviour, manage & embrace life's many challenges, figure out what makes your life worth living and take action. People have much more in common than they have differences. That is why, existentially, we're all unique, yet very similar at a fundamental level. An understanding of human nature as well as individual cognitive and emotional processes in combination with psychological sciences, common sense and an upfront mode of practicing enable me to work with a broad range of clients. I have learned and experienced, that this knowledge is worth more than understanding specific environments, business sectors or technical processes. In my work I... - facilitate development 1on1 and in group sessions helping clients to reach goals, make difficult decisions, create meaning, overcome anxiety, get motivated and generally deal with life's adversities & challenges, - resolve conflicts between and within people, communities and organisations, - lead and develop personal & social education tutoring, workshops and training (leadership, assertiveness, confidence building, communication, strengths, relationships etc - over 200 topics), - work towards establishing personal development as a universal school subject, - promote integrative approaches to talking practice combining aspects of coaching, therapy, mentoring, consulting and mediation.

Feed Eat Speak

London

I am Stacey Zimmels and I'm the owner of Feed Eat Speak. I set it up this company so that I could help families and children to get the help they need when they need it most. I now work independently after almost 20 years in NHS positions. I currently hold an honorary contract the NHS Royal Brompton Hospital in London, having lead their Paediatric Speech Therapy service for the last 8 years. I continue to do some Locum clinical work there as well as clinical research. I'm one of those really lucky people who get out bed each day and goes to work because I love what I do. Helping you and your little ones is a real pleasure and passion for me (that's honestly true). I understand just how stressful and awful it is to have a child who can't or won't eat. It can often feel like no one is listening and that there is no one out there who can help. It can be very worrying to have a child who is different to their peers and to feel desperately hopeful that they will just 'catch up' but deep down you’re concerned that may not be the case. It's hard to find someone you can trust. If this sounds familiar then contact me. I offer a no obligation, free 15 minute phone consultation where you can discuss any concerns you have and see if your child would benefit from speech therapy or a feeding consultation. I provide and deliver the feeding and swallowing and breastfeeding support services and I have a small team of highly experienced speech therapists who can support all areas of speech, language and communication development.
