All of the teaching awards and assessing qualifications are regulated qualifications delivered through Training Qualifications UK, which is an Ofqual regulated Awarding Organisation. Whichever qualification you need, when you train with us, you can be confident that you will gain the knowledge and qualifications you need to become a professional and confident trainer or assessor. Our classroom courses are held at our spacious training centre in Colchester. If you have a group of employees we can send one of our professional trainers to deliver the training on-site at your premises. We also offer a range of Health and Safety qualifications including IOSH Managing Safely and a range of more advanced CPR and First Responder qualifications. Flexible Training Where it is possible we offer virtual, online and distance courses. Some courses do require face to face training and we offer blended training options to help reduce the time you need to spend in the classroom helping to reduce time away from home or work.

Essex chocolatier, Sarah Knights, specialises in making delicious, traditional, handmade artisan chocolates, as well offering chocolate courses, workshops, demonstrations and parties. Due to the Coronavirus we are currently only courses and workshops on a by appointment basis only. If you would like to book please contact me directly . Sarah says ‘As well as making handmade chocolates we specialise in the tuition of chocolate making’. If you would like to know about how it all started then read on! Before starting on my ‘chocolate journey’ I worked in the telecoms industry and then with my husband running our own railway engineering business where I was (and still am) Finance Director in my spare time! The railway business also operates Poplar Miniature Railway at Poplar Nurseries Marks Tey. In May 2012, I was asked to run a chocolate stall at a local pub ‘fund raiser’ and loved it so much I decided to set up my own business. Since then I have expanded to make a wider range of chocolates, which as well as selling from my shop at Poplar Nurseries I sell to local hotels, farm shops, florists and seasonal markets. My customers currently include The Angel Hotel Bury, The Salthouse at Ipswich, Dilly’s florist Colchester, The Hearing Centre Colchester.

Motorcycle Training We offer bike/motorcycle training for new and experienced riders, in Colchester, Clacton, Harwich, Sudbury, North Essex and South Suffolk. We are based just off the A12 & A134 at North Colchester. This is a family run motorcycle training business, run by Steve and Louise Cook, the biking tradition carries on in the family, with both children holding full motorcycle licenses (taught by Steve). We wont give you the hard sell for bikes, clothing and helmets or push motorcycle mechanic services on you, we just deliver high quality training tailored to your needs with a smile. Steve has been riding since he was 16 years old, with his first two wheels, a Honda SS 50, progressing to a GT 185 which was the love of his life. The biking passion has continued, whether on the road or off road. He’s been a instructor since 2009, deciding from day one that this was the job he loved doing. He’s also a member of several vintage trials bike clubs and can often be seen going ploughing up muddy fields in the interests of sport! He has a lot of experience at both CBT and DAS level, has a fantastic pass rate, with 50% of the training taking place in Ipswich close to the test center, enabling students to feel familiar and confident with potential test routes.

Autism Anglia is an independent charity that provides care and support to autistic children, adults, and their families in East Anglia. Services in Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk, managed from office in Colchester, offer personalised approaches that provide each individual with the necessary skills and strategies to enable them to realise their own strengths and abilities. The charity also seeks to promote greater knowledge and understanding of autism through training, education, and supplying information to the public and professionals. We offer numerous services for autistic people and their families, including: The origins of the charity started back in the early 1970s with families living in Essex and Norfolk independently realising that there was no specialist provision for their children who were on the Autism Spectrum. This lack of provision resulted in two entirely separate organisations being operated and managed up until 2008 when negotiations brought about the successful merger and the formation of Autism Anglia. From similar beginnings to where you find us now; here are the key points. 1970 The Norwich and Norfolk Society for Autistic Children was formed by five families affected by autism. 1973 Two sets of parents with newly diagnosed children setup up the Essex Society for Autistic Children. 1977 Doucecroft School opened in Kelvedon for children up to 16 years old. 1983 Provision extended to include services for young adults with an Adult Life Care Centre and the name was changed to The Essex Autistic Society. Norfolk Autistic Community Housing Association (NACHA) formed to provide residential homes to people with autism. The Norwich and Norfolk Society for Autistic Children changed its name to the Norfolk Autistic Society. 1994 The Norfolk Autistic Society Trust Fund established to benefit people with autism and their families. 1999 Further Education facilities for 16-19-year-olds given a dedicated campus in Kelvedon. 2004 Family Support service launched to help individuals and families affected by autism. Through collaboration, the Norfolk Autistic Society provided short breaks for children with autism and learning disabilities. 2005 Doucecroft School moved from Kelvedon to purpose-built facilities in Eight Ash Green, Colchester. 2008 NACHA merged with The Essex Autistic Society and the new charity changed its name on 1 May to Autism Anglia which better reflected its area of operation. The Norfolk Autistic Society merged with Autism Anglia. 2019 Relocation of our Century House Colchester Office a short walk away to North Hill.

Beverley and Nigel Caleno own, run and are fully immersed in all aspects of Old Bank Studios life. We bought the Old Bank in Harwich in 2011. Having brought up and educated a family in Colchester, we were looking for a change of lifestyle and an opportunity to build on Bev’s Interior and Soft Furnishing business. Falling in love with this magnificent building and the unspoilt, faded charm of Harwich town, where beautiful architecture sits alongside maritime industry and stunning estuary views…….. we took the plunge. Bev very quickly opened her Textile Studio and it soon became clear that demand for her workshops and courses was going from strength to strength. Encouraged by this success, the decision was made to start inviting tutors from outside to deliver workshops; we were going to need more space! And so began a full restoration of the main banking hall; with it’s high ceiling, perfect light and ample space, our new Art Studio was created. As time went on a kitchen was installed in the former bank vault. Since our first Art Workshop in June 2013, we have successfully run hundreds of one day events and longer courses, attracting many of the country’s leading artists and tutors to work with us. Our reputation has spread far and wide and we regularly welcome students from the four corners of the UK, as well as further afield. On a personal level we both continue to explore and develop our own creativity and hold an annual exhibition of our work. Bev is firmly established as a Textile Artist and more recently a painter in Watercolour, whilst Nigel works in in many media, but is gaining a reputation as a Plein Air Oil Painter. We look forward to welcoming you to the Old Bank Studios very soon.

Encouraged as a small child by an artistic mother, I always sketched family members and pets, being able to capture a good likeness. From school through to college, my ability to draw became apparent and was recognised throughout my home town of Colchester in Essex. I had taken to pastels after years of painting in watercolour. The transition happened when working on a portrait….. "With watercolours I couldn't keep the smooth texture of the skin and the more I worked at it, the rougher the 'skin' got. Frustrated, I picked up a box of pastels that I'd had from college and almost closed my eyes as I chalked over the face I'd been working on for hours, cringing with the fear of having to throw the whole picture in the bin…. I smudged it over with my finger. The result was amazingly smooth and definitely 'skin' like. I put away the watercolours and invested in many shades of quality pastels". In 1997 and keen to enter into the art world, I offered my services to organisations to produce promotional portraits which came with good media coverage and helped my business catapult within its first year. I was introduced to various artists and teachers and was offered a place to work alongside Royal portrait artist Richard Stone who had admired my work through the local press. In 2003 I took up teaching art within local clubs and private classes, holding exhibitions and encouraging 11 to 16 year olds to develop their artistic talents with workshops using different mediums. From 2008, I had the immense pleasure of working with Colchester Zoo in Essex when I became their Artist in Residence. From holding art classes in the Zoo and working with children during the school holidays to portray their favourite animals, one of my greatest adventures was to work closely with the Zoo's great managerial team on their 'Stand Tall' project for their 50th anniversary. This saw many local artists give up their time to design and create personal works of art on 2.5m giraffe sculptures. These were then displayed around Colchester and even took a tour to London's South Bank before they came back to the Zoo for auction. It was with much excitement to see one of my giraffes (Big Catrina) sell to the highest bidder at £6800. Developing very unique drawing skills, I have helped students from all over the world with many varying art abilities to accomplish their artistic dreams. With a limited palette of chalks, and a vast experience in pastel application, my teaching took me to places I hadn't even dreamed of. Constantly moving forward and learning new ways to pass on my skills, I would say that teaching students of all ages is in my blood now. It has become a passion to show others the beauty of this versatile medium.
