The course will be held in the Hoot Suite at The Barn Emporium, Petersfield. &nbsp;The day starts at 10.00 and runs until 4.30pm. Lunch in the Tea Barn and tea and coffee during the day will be provided, as well as wool!You can choose what animal you would like to make (within reason!), but it is best to pick something you love and you are familiar with how it looks. &nbsp;We use a wire armature frame and make a model around 6 to 7 inches in height. &nbsp;Please bring reference pictures/photos that inspire you and especially a picture of the animal from the side view, so that we can get the proportions right - I will help you with this, don&#39;t worry about it! &nbsp;I will also have some photographs and books for reference. &nbsp;Please let me know what animal you would like to make so I can bring the right colour wool!&nbsp;You will learn the process of needle-felting and hopefully you will finish your sculpture in the day, but there is no pressure to do so and I will ensure that you will be able to finish off at home if necessary. &nbsp;Felting is an enjoyable and surprisingly easy craft.All materials and tools are provided. &nbsp;So you don&#39;t need to bring anything but enthusiasm! As The Silver Duck, Charlotte forges and creates a range of silver work and jewellery. In this private experience, you&#39;ll spend three and a half hours get to discover jewellery techniques and create your own design.&nbsp;You&#39;ll be able to create shapes by using a piercing saw to cut out your design, or manipulating wire to create shapes. You will have the option to add texture using hammers and stamps, experimenting in copper first. Design and create your own silver pendant with the help of Charlotte Anne Duckworth, the Bristol silversmith otherwise known as The Silver Duck. Charlotte has been teaching and hosting workshops since 2013. Come along, design and make your very own silver pendant in this three and a half hour workshop. In this workshop you will have the chance to design your own pendant and Charlotte will take you through the making process step by step. Either cutting out shapes from sheet silver or manipulating wire, you will make your pendant from start to finish.Designing and creating shapes using a piercing saw to cut out your design and finishing. You&#39;ll have the option to apply texture using hammers and stamps and will also get to try techniques like doming and forming to make 3D forms. You will learn the basics of leather craft for accessories and be introduced to techniques including machine stitching on leather, hand finishing leather, inserting hardware and decorative leather techniques. You will be working with a sustainably sourced lush vegetable tanned leather. This is a perfect introductory or taster course to start your journey into leather craft.In order to complete your purse in a day we will use part pre-cut parts and the purse will be made from a &lsquo;Hands of Tym&rsquo; pattern but do not fear there is still plenty of work for you to do.During the day you will be directed by your tutor Leathersmith and London College of Fashion Lecturer Georgie Tym to make a &lsquo;raw edge&rsquo; &lsquo;concertina&rsquo; small leather purse with small internal pocket and a flap closure. Weekend patchwork quilt basics, spread over two weekend this course will cover an introduction to patchwork on the sewing machine.&nbsp;&nbsp;Using a &lsquo;Jelly Roll&rsquo; pack.&nbsp;&nbsp;These are width of fabric two and a half inch strips which are sold in coordinating and complimentary colours to save us having to think too hard about fabric choices.&nbsp;&nbsp;
We will create simple quilt blocks using the strips so the quilt will come together (relatively) quickly.&nbsp; Once the piecing of blocks is done, we will join with sashing, create a quilt sandwich and quilt using the machine. &nbsp; Last but not least we will cover binding. &nbsp;
You will need to bring your own fabrics for this course but we give you help as to where to find your fabrics. &nbsp;On the first session &nbsp;ring along a Jelly Roll and a quarter inch presser foot for your machine or use one of the studio PFAFF machines. &nbsp;Alternatively if you would rather upcycle bring a few items of cotton clothing in your favourite colours which we can cut into 2.5 inch strips.&nbsp;

This 4 week online Course is suitable for complete beginners and improvers who would like to learn to paint in Watercolour. Each session is 40 minutes live on Tuesday evening and start at 7.00-7.40pm Via Zoom On this Course you will: * learn to prepare your water colour paints and mix colours. * learn a variety of watercolour techniques including, washes, wet in wet, graded, dry brush Flat Wash, Loose watercolour see photos, we will cover a variety of subjects. * will be taught live by your tutor online via zoom with step- by -step demonstrations and clear explanations of the various stages. * Learners will then carry the various tasks alongside the tutor who will be at hand for any questions that you may have. Design is achieved by adding, combining and styling shapes, text and images on a canvas or &lsquo;Frame&rsquo;.&nbsp;We run 2 consecutive Figma training days, the second day building on the practical activities from the first.&nbsp;You can attend just the first day. Penny Holroyde has worked in children's publishing for almost 30 years from foreign rights at Walker Books to Rights Director at Candlewick Press in the USA, before becoming an agent specialising in children's books with the Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency. In 2015 Penny co-founded Holroyde Cartey with Claire Cartey, former art director in children's books at Hachette. The agency focuses exclusively on authors and illustrators for the children's book market.

Penny has a particular love for picture books but is looking for authors and illustrators working across fiction and non-fiction for all children's ages from pre-school to crossover. She's always looking for humour in picture books and chapter books and heart with some messaging in MG. In YA she's looking for strong character with contemporary settings. She'd also be interested in seeing some horror in YA.

Penny is offering 121 sessions for young fiction, middle grade, YA and picture book writers. For chapter books, MG and YA fiction, please submit a covering letter, synopsis and the first three chapters of your manuscript in a single word document. 
For picture books, please submit a covering letter and two texts formatted in 12 point font in continuous stanzas (and with illustration notes if you wish to include them).

Together we&rsquo;ll explore ways to &nbsp;create work that reflects your individual interests, passion, and point of view, no matter your experience level. The course content is delivered over seven live Zoom sessions, in a small, welcoming group with plenty of opportunities for interaction. Additionally, there will be optional (but highly recommended) assignments to complete in between the live sessions - assignments designed to get you stuck in to your creative practice in new and interesting ways.During each live session, there will be a demonstration focusing on a particular aspect of visual art - this will include various materials, subjects, and considerations such as composition, theme, mark-making, layering, and so on. We will also have a look at everyone&rsquo;s recent creations, with celebration of the triumphs and suggestions for moving forward with work-in-progress. A talk with NIKKI PARMENTER - Textiles/Mixed Media Artist
TUESDAY 15TH OCTOBER
START TIME: 7.00pm 
Join our TEA ’N CHAT with Textile Artist Nikki Parmenter, who will talk about her work, explaining some of the techniques she uses.
She will also demonstrate the plastic entrapment method she will be using for her workshop on Wednesday 6th November and show some finished examples. This will entail some layering of fabric, soldering and free machine embroidery and some ideas regarding ways of displaying the finished piece. 

Nikki taught art for 30 years to secondary school children, and having left full time work in 2016 , has been providing talks, demonstrations, summer schools, workshops to schools, groups and societies. She is a member of various art and textile groups.
She exhibits her work widely and has written a number of articles for both magazines and online sites. She is based in Cheshire and specialises in mixed media textile pieces, taking inspiration from a variety of sources and particularly interested in the way societies created a series of visual symbols to represent the things which were important to them. She investigates myths, legends, stories and beliefs. She is also inspired by art, architecture and artefacts.

The way we breathe affects everything we do, everything we think and everything we feel. It affects our sleep, our digestion, our immune system, our energy levels, our emotions, our ability to think clearly and our relationships, to name but a few.
In this course we will be combining my passions of Qigong and Breathwork to help bring us into balance so we can move though Autumn into winter full of peace and vitality.
Why Qigong and Breathwork?
Qigong is breathwork (Qi is Breath), it is an amazing way of opening and clearing the body, of making space for our healthy energy to flow. It allows us to stay relaxed and receptive without forcing or pushing. It is easy to learn and naturally attuned to your individual body and how it wants to expand, release and recharge.
Breathwork is simply bringing our conscious attention to our breath and is one of the most powerful ways we have to change our state at any given moment. In the course i will introduce you to eight different breath techniques to help you to breathe better. Commit to just 10mins a day and you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve.
Everyone is welcome to join the course no matter your experience.

Our aim is to introduce and build crafting skills and the basic skills needed for success in the workplace and at home, including self-confidence, problem solving, communicating in a group, basic maths and English. We teach over 45 different paper craft and mixed media techniques. Each course is carefully constructed to help you develop your crafting skills and knowledge. &nbsp;Crafting and our courses are mindful, taking us away from the day-to-day. Participants have consistently reported improvements in their wellbeing. &nbsp;Anyone who wants to learn new skills can join our programmes. &nbsp;No previous experience of papercrafting or mixed media work is needed.
