My name is Britta Schuessler.  I am passionate about wellbeing. I have been a psychotherapist since 2003 and have run mindfulness courses since 2015. When I first came to Scotland in 1992 I learned about mindfulness and I have practiced it ever since. I have taught mindfulness in groups since 2015.  I am a certified Mindfulness teacher trained by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Mindfulness has been very important in my life. It helped me through some very difficult times including a relationship breakup, bullying and chronic illness. It has also been one of the most important things I learned that helped me to live my life fully, enjoy myself and feel resilient, no matter what life is throwing at me.  Mindfulness has enriched my experience of life, strengthened my emotional core and has made my relationships so much more effective. Therefore I want to share this with as many people as I can. I think Mindfulness is what most people need to feel healthier and happier.

Our Story In the 1980s both Judi and Alex were serving Police Officers and in the 1992 Alex left to join the London Ambulance Service. During their service, they both witnessed the importance of good First aid care and, having a passion for teaching, started out as freelance instructors for other companies. Unfortunately they were both disappointed with the quality and pricing of many of those providers. Judi become fed up with Alex's constant comments that he could "do better, cheaper" and told him to "do something about it!!!" Alex and Judi Brazkiewicz formed Holos Healthcare & Training Ltd in 2004 to deliver high quality First Aid at Work training. Alex and Judi between them, currently have almost 35 years front-line Emergency Services experience, and almost 50 years training First Aid. They are backed by a passionate team of instructors - hand picked for their experience but also their ability to "Teach the Basics - but also to Teach them Well". Services Our courses range from brief 2 hour introductory seminars and 1/2 day Basic Life Support (BLS) courses to the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) to the 5-day Level 3 First Responder on Scene (FROS) courses. In addition Holos has the ability to devise bespoke training to meet your individual workplace requirements and has successfully delivered training to a wide and diverse variety of clients including student doctors at Kings College London (which incorporates Kings College, Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals), the ground crew for the London Ambulance Service's Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), the staff of the National Maritime Museum, security staff and specialist units within HM Armed Forces. We are the Open College of the Arts. An open access, distance learning provider of higher education courses based in Barnsley, UK. We were created by Michael Young in 1987, one of the founders of the Open University, to offer high quality arts courses as a means to transform lives, with the opportunity to develop and express creative talents under the guidance of experienced artists. An OCA qualification, be that a degree, Certificate or Diploma in Higher Education, or undergraduate credit, can be a huge achievement for many and opens the doors to new careers, or new lifestyles built around the arts. Over 2000 people study with us every year as part of a truly global community representing 67 nationalities worldwide on 13 degree programmes and one Masters. We reach people in every walk of life, with over 20% of our students having a declared disability, and many students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and with no qualifications. Our students come from every walk of life imaginable, fitting work, family, caring responsibilities and everything else alongside study and more besides. The Study Society is both a physical and virtual place where you can find rest and refreshment amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We share practical ways to help further inner peace, happiness and spiritual growth. The Study Society is headquartered at Colet House in London and has affiliate groups around the world. Our charity organises weekly classes, member gatherings, Advaita meetings and events to help connect people with deep levels of stillness, truth and love. Please, have a look at our range of on-line offers to see what is currently available. The teachings of the Study Society originated with the Russian philosopher and spiritual teacher P.D. Ouspensky who bought Colet House, just before the Second World War. Ouspensky’s successor Dr. Francis Roles registered The Study Society as a member based organisation in 1951. Afterwards, Dr. Roles introduced non-dual philosophy and mantra meditation to Society members through a direct connection with His Holiness Shantanand Saraswati (1913-1997), a leader of the ancient Advaita (which means ‘not two’) Vedanta tradition in India. In 1963, Dr. Roles introduced to Study Society’s members another expression of non-dual philosophy through a unique relationship with Mr. Resuhi, a senior Sheikh of the Mevlevi Dervish order in Turkey. Mevlevi Turning (whirling dervishes) was inspired over 700 years ago by the poet Jalaluddin Rumi. The Turning has been taught and practiced at Colet House for over 50 years. Today we blend sacred traditions with modern teachings and expressions of non-duality which can be sourced across multiple cultures. As Rupert Spira, a Direct Path teacher, long-term member and friend of The Study Society says: “non-duality requires no affiliation to any particular religious or spiritual tradition. All that is required is an interest in the essential nature of experience, and in the longing for love, peace and happiness around which most of our lives revolve.”
