Covid Secure Guidance Taking into account Government advice, I have offered and continue to offer my students an online alternative to one to one studio lessons. These live lessons are carried out via FaceTime, Zoom or Skype. These are and remain difficult times with no certainty as to what will happen next. Online teaching is of course, no substitute for face to face tuition. Many of my students have asked me to begin teaching again in my studio. I have therefore decided to re-open the studio, and offer one to one teaching, but strictly following Covid Secure guidelines. My existing students will be aware of how keen I am to ensure that students with a cold or any other illness which may be passed on, do not attend lessons. (After all, I and several of my students rely upon our voices for work). The current situation makes it much more important that we all follow the Covid Guidelines so that we stay safe. Contact me now to find out more. Covid Guidelines if you think that you have a cold/flu, fever or any other illness which may infect others you must not come to your scheduled lesson, but must immediately let me know; social distancing – at least 2 metres separation (3 whilst singing) must be observed at all times; there will be no physical contact (for example to demonstrate breathing techniques); students must enter the studio via the entrance driveway and through the side doorway leading into the courtyard where my detached studio is. (Please note that I am regretfully unable to offer toilet or refreshment facilities for the time being); hand sanitiser will be available and must please be used on entering and leaving the studio; Students are not required to wear face masks (and unless otherwise requested by my student I will not wear one); Whilst I will take steps to follow Covid – Secure guidance, and will keep the studio clean and well ventilated before and after lessons, students must appreciate that I cannot guarantee their safety or be responsible for any infection.

Colliford Tavern & Holiday Site offers a wide range of accommodation, including hotel rooms, self-catering apartment, mobile home, glamping pods, campsite, touring caravan pitches with electric hookups, hard standing pitches. The site has a bar and a restaurant with a wide range of alcoholic drinks and international cuisine. The bar and restaurant are also open for non-residents and walk-in guest throughout the year. The bar is stock with local real ale and bears famous Cornwall served from 11:00 am until midnight. (Due to COVID-19 our Indian chef stuck in India, Therefore Indian Cuisine may not available until Mid July 2021) The restaurant also makes light lunch throughout the day. Besides Indian food, the restaurant does traditional pub foods for the guest who want to try conventional Cornish pub food. It caters for all type of events, including weddings, birthday parties and annual dinners for the corporates and clubs. The site has a children’s playground and views of Colliford Lake. Guest can enjoy outdoor drinks and meal while keeping an eye on the children at the playground. The site offers free parking space for the guest staying on-site or visiting pubs and restaurant. The campsite is equipped with a shower block and chemical waste facilities for its guest. Separate food preparation is also adjunct with the shower block for its guest use. The site has several electric hookups pitches with hard standing option to hire. There are several glamping pods and static caravans available to rent throughout the year. The area is famous for moor walking, cycling, hiking, golfing and fishing. The colliford Lake is within 7-10 minutes of walking distance, (no direct lake access through property) and A30 is within 2 minutes of driving distance to connect dual carriageway. Plymouth is 23 miles from Colliford Tavern, while Newquay is 24 miles from the property. The nearest airport is Newquay Airport, 19 miles from the site.

As a recruiter with over 20 years of experience in the field of data science and analytics, Roisin McCarthy observed a worrying decline in female candidates applying to roles across every level. The gap in female applicants led her to examine the underlying causes and barriers to women in the data and analytics industries. What she found led her to collaborate with Britain’s foremost analytics expert, Payal Jain and together, Women in Data was formed to confront this startling problem and to agitate for change. Women in Data® aims to bring awareness through media appearances and events; in particular, the landmark annual Women in Data® conference. This began as an understated symposium, attended by 100 people in 2015 and it erupted into the most highly anticipated annual data science event in the UK. At the 2019 conference at the Arora O2 Women in Data welcomed more than 1500 attendees, and in 2020 thousands of data professionals attended a week of online Women in Data events and workshops. The message of diversity and equality is permeating into the data zeitgeist with each Women in Data® event we run. From the classrooms of Milton Keynes to the House of Lords, we have been working tirelessly to raise awareness of the issues and emphasise the value of female participation at every level. We collaborate with our corporate partners to stage regular Women in Data networking events throughout the year, providing opportunities for leaders in the field (mostly women) to share their knowledge and experiences via informative presentations and discussions. We intend to emphasise and celebrate the accomplishments of women because ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’. A history of the school… Marjorie Eileen Wise – a Christmas Day baby! As with lots of little girls, Marjorie Wise wanted to go to ballet lessons, and her parents, Harry & Grace decided at age 6, she could go to Leicester ballet teacher, Queenie Green and enjoy a few ballet lessons. Marjorie’s parents were unaware of the talent that their daughter had! Marjorie enjoyed her ballet lessons and took her Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) exams one by one until by the age of 17, she had passed her Advanced Exam and had begun to achieve the relevant teaching qualifications to be able to teach RAD ballet and enter children for exams. Just before her 18th birthday, she decided to open her own school and thus Marjorie Wise School of Dancing (MWSD) was born. Harry & Grace Wise were keen to assist their daughter with this venture and moved from the family home in Aylestone to a house on Saxby Street, Leicester, because it had a dance studio in the basement. This was converted into a ballet studio with bespoke mirrors, barres and floor. Marjorie Wise became a household name in Leicester and the school thrived. Marjorie herself continued with her own ballet study and soon expanded into International Dance Teacher’s Association (IDTA) tap and theatre craft study. Marjorie travelled weekly to be taught by Sissie Smith in Nottingham and furthered her knowledge of ballet. Soon, Saxby Street was too small for the expanding school and Marjorie started hiring local halls to teach in. Her cousin, an excellent pianist, accompanied the classes on the piano and her parents dealt with the admin of running the school. In the 1960’s, a young girl called Yvonne Saunders, joined the school for her lessons, as she wanted a classical RAD ballet school for her training. Yvonne was a very talented dancer and Marjorie quickly recognised an outstanding talent in this pupil. She was not wrong, as Yvonne went on to be the lead dancer with the Royal Ballet, partnering the likes of Rudolf Nureyev and dancing solos with the Company all over the world. Yvonne continued to keep in touch with Marjorie on a regular basis.

Shalamar Children’s Homes – Isola, Cairn, and shortly Glebeland – are based in family-sized houses around rural Essex. We are residential children’s homes with a therapeutic approach. Our aim is to resolve issues in young people and not to merely contain them. We achieve this by using attachment-based care and to look for the communication behind any behaviour. We believe behaviour is a form of communication. We would look for the meaning behind all negative behaviour in the young people within our care. From this, we work with our young people helping them to not only to control their negative behaviours, but also attempting to work through the issues which are the cause of these behaviours. Shalamar carers use Dan Hughes’ PACE method to gain a positive attachment with the young people within our care. PACE stands for Playfulness – Acceptance – Curiosity – Empathy. Given time, we aim to create a stable, secure base and safe haven for all young people staying at Shalamar, allowing the space and the confidence to heal and develop. At Shalamar, there are daily community meetings where young people have the opportunity to voice any issues they have with their care, or state how it can be improved. This space allows for the young people to feel listened to, raising their confidence, self-esteem and making them feel valued and cared for. Shalamar’s work looks to change the negative way that young people view themselves and the adults around them. Through attachment-based nurture we restore their self-belief and provide positive experiences with adults who care. We understand that many children who display challenging behaviour have had trauma at some point in their life. This usually manifests itself in emotional developmental delay. Therefore we treat the child at their developmental/emotional age, rather than strict biological age. This creates a realistic and settled environment for the young person who can succeed and receive praise for their work and efforts. We also provide a psychodynamic behavioural approach, which is worked alongside the attachment framework, where we bring the subconscious to the conscious. This allows the young people to understand why they are feeling and acting the way they are and is the first step to taking control of their actions.
