FlexSchool is a unique learning network designed specifically for gifted and twice exceptional (2e) middle and high school students. At this time two campuses serve the Tristate area, one in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and another in Bronxville, New York. FlexSchool embraces students for who and where they are, then supports them as they learn to thrive. Small, ability and discussion based classes taught by subject experts ensure meaningful conversations and the opportunity to ask high-level questions. The faculty, trained and supported by learning specialists and mental health professionals, focuses on critical thinking in all areas of learning. Our Cloud Campus welcomes online students from around the world into live, discussion-based classes and our community, either full-time or part-time. FlexSchool has had great success with remote students from Florida, Washington, California, West Virginia, United Arab Emirates, Bermuda, and Switzerland among other places! back next History FlexSchool started to save one twelve-year-old girl. Jane loved to learn what she wanted to learn, and spent hours engrossed in videos and web pages about animals. She could tell you about muscle cells and animal anatomy. She researched Native Americans and made all of the games and weapons used by the Lenni-Lenape out of found objects and craft supplies. She spent hours drawing and painting and could write fiction better than most college students. Yet, she loathed school. She rarely spoke in class, dropped out of the gifted and talented program, either didn’t do her homework or would forget to turn it in. She had As on the tests and Cs and Ds in the class. Jane’s academic future looked dismal. Poor grades and high test scores are not a winning combination for college admission. Her public school was not the right place for her, but neither were the local private schools. Academically-oriented private schools do not accept students with poor grades. Schools that accept students with poor grades are not always academically rigorous. Stalemate. Until we started FlexSchool. Jane spent six years at FlexSchool, learned to love learning again, graduated in 2020, and attends a well-known liberal arts college studying anthropology, linguistics, map-making, and art.

Lime House School

HISTORY AND ETHOS Traditional academic education since 1865 – bringing out the best in all children. Lime House School has strong roots in the local community and has offered a traditional academic education since the late 19th century. The school was formally established in 1899 in Wetheral, a small village located five miles to the east of Carlisle. In 2012, three Lime House School reports emerged dated 1865, adding another 34 years to the school’s long history. The school moved to its present location at Hawkesdale near the village of Dalston in 1947, and initially operated as a traditional prep school for boys up to the age of 13 under the leadership of a Mr Lovelock which continued throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. In the 1960s the school was owned and run by a pioneering headmaster, Mr PJ Ingrams, who admitted girls to the school and introduced O Levels and A levels. Mr Ingrams led the school until his untimely disappearance on a climbing expedition to the Andes in 1974. After a short period with Mr A Templeton-Turner as Headmaster, the school was purchased by the owners of Riverston International in London and Mr M Lewis took over as head in 1977. The school continued to grow, partly due to the closure of two local independent schools, Grosvenor House and Overwater School in Carlisle, and in 1983 was purchased by three local businessmen with children at the school led by Mr W Brotherton. School numbers continued to grow and extra boarding houses were created in the local area, in particular at Greensyke Farm where the Junior School moved to and the girls became housed at ‘The Oaks’ in Dalston. Lime House School was purchased from Mr W Brotherton and his family in 1998 by Mr Nigel Rice, Headmaster from 1983 until his retirement in 2017, his wife Mrs Diane Rice, Senior Housemistress and Head of Learning Support and the Bursar, Ms Jackie Fisher. Under their combined ownership Lime House has flourished to become the unique school it is today, offering an exceptional academic education to all children within a stimulating and supportive atmosphere.

Sittingbourne yoga

sittingbourne yoga

I started going to yoga classes when I was just 16, tagging along with my Mum who had been going for years to her favourite teacher Sam. Yoga stayed with me throughout my adolescence, and I always found a class wherever I was, whether at University, on holiday or when I moved away from home. When I settled in Kent, I found an amazing teacher, Rebecca Papa-Adams, who was teaching at my local gym, and I was hooked, I went to yoga several times a week, practiced at home and started becoming interested in the non physical side of yoga. Rebecca convinced me to start my teacher training, even though my immediate plans included marriage and babies. I began my 500 hour teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2015, shortly after I got married, and unbeknown to me I was already pregnant on the first day of teacher training. I studied for 2.5 years with the British Wheel of Yoga and formed an amazing circle of mentors, teachers and friends throughout that time. I ended up studying and teaching throughout both my pregnancies, which added a whole other dimension to my journey. Seeing the amazing physical and mental effects of yoga whilst being pregnant encouraged me to begin pregnancy teacher training in 2019 soon after my second baby was born; he even joined me on my teacher training days. Yoga provides a lot of different things for different people, but for me it has been present for most of my adult life keeping me grounded, physically mobile and calm. It's opened my mind to other areas of health that I would have never explored otherwise. It's not about being the most flexible or being able to meditate for hours on end, but having strategies and coping mechanisms to live a happy and vibrant life. The classes I teach all include an element of strength, so that when you do stretch, its safe and controlled. I'd love for you to join me at one of my classes, whatever stage you are at.

Vastern Timber manufactures oak beams, timber cladding and hardwood flooring. We specialise in British grown timbers, including English oak, sweet chestnut, ash, sycamore and larch. Vastern Timber showroom Vastern Timber is the largest hardwood saw-milling company in the UK, although we are very much a local business, with the vast majority of our wood bought and sold within one hundred miles of our sawmills. Supporting British woodlands by using British wood For over one hundred years the Barnes family have been purchasing logs from local woodlands and we continue to believe that it makes sense to do so. Specialising in homegrown timber allows us to offer beautiful British wood in grades and specifications that are not commonly available from imported timber. And purchasing timber from local woodlands provides some of the necessary financial support for the protection and management of these important habitats. It’s our mission to encourage more use of British timber. We are working to reduce our carbon footprint, and source timber locally and responsibly. Use these links to read about our approach to environmental sustainability and our plans to support local woods. Wiltshire sawmills specialising in homegrown hardwoods Vastern Timber operates from two sites at Wootton Bassett and Calne where we sawmill and process upwards of 9000 M3 of logs per year. We cut English oak, ash, sweet chestnut, sycamore, and elm, as well as specialty softwoods such as larch, western red cedar, and Douglas fir. Cutting and processing our own logs allows us to offer a range of species, grades and specifications that are not widely available from other merchants. Our facilities include log-converting bandmills, computer-controlled drying kilns and well-equipped machining facilities capable of processing both hardwoods and softwoods for a wide range of uses. We have the largest stocks of British grown timber, so we can offer short lead times and plenty to choose from in our range of homegrown timber products. While we maintain our position as a key supplier to furniture makers, we are now better known as manufacturers of oak beams, timber cladding and hardwood flooring. We developed Brimstone, the first British grown thermally modified timber cladding. Our customers are interesting and varied, including national contractors, specialist oak framers and individual self-builders.

Cherished Blossoms

At Cherished Blossoms, we provide children activities in an environment where they can be free to explore, learn and engage without limits. Cherished Blossoms, operated by Cynthia Jackson and a team of creative artists and teachers, is currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. A home educator of two active and creative souls who loves playing, drawing and having the opportunity to play computer games (what kid in our current times doesn't appreciate a bit of crazy Minecraft character creation). Our days involve studying and exploring (with the encouragement of self-directed play) and creating experiences, whether artistically or venturing out to exciting places. Sometimes, the word 'I'm bored' pops into the day, and no matter how many things you buy to appease them, it is never enough. Still, that time of 'boredom' is essential for a wind-down or an excellent opportunity to practice mindfulness and recharge and relax to stimulate the mind creatively. I understand much better now that they learn best through creative activities and imaginative play. As an entrepreneur, transformational business and life coach and writer, creating a space and environment for adding value through offering engaging, motivating and stimulating products and services that bridge the gap is a passion and dream. Cherished Blossoms aims to help instil, inspire, and allow children to learn in a fun, nurturing and engaging environment where they will be free and encouraged to think outside the box. Our dedicated team of artists and creatives are keen and willing to transfer their skills, knowledge, experience and love for what they offer their customers so that the kids can incorporate what they are learning from school into real-life experiences. We believe that children need a solid balance and opportunity to learn from academic settings and exposure to real-life experiences. We design our activities to bring out the passion and love for simple things in life that encourage explorations into what they can be or strive to be in life. We take this vision seriously and always add more activities to help us reach our goals, encouraging children to spread their wings. Welcome to Cherished Blossoms
