With our Tutor Groups, where there are only 4 in a group, it means that each student still gets a lot of individual 1-2-1 help during each session, giving fantastic value at just £16 (£19 for GCSE) and £33 for 2 GCSE lessons per week. Our unique methods give 24/7 access to exercises and lessons year 1 to GCSE (National Curriculum compliant). Targeted Tuition Every student has tailored tuition and weekly work to do which is set at their individual level. The study programme reports mean that the tutor will know exactly where to help and what work to set, ensuring the best use of the tutor's and student's time. I first came across the Alexander Technique when I was looking for something to help me stop getting tension headaches, lower back pain, and neck problems. Finding a teacher and learning the principles, ideas and concepts of the technique gave me an appreciation of what I was doing to myself that created the pain, as well as how I was putting myself wrong in some other areas of my life too! I learned the good news: that if I was causing my difficulties, then I also had the power to stop causing them. I have become a more flexible, happier, calmer and easier to be with person. I move in a more co-ordinated way and have re-found the joy in moving I remember having as a child. I no longer have any tension headaches, neck problems or lower back aches. I feel more at home with myself than I ever have in the past. I am a teacher trained by the ITM (Interactive Teaching Method Association). This means that I studied for four years and passed four written and one practical exam. I spent six months within the course as a student teacher. I graduated in 2003. I am a member of the ITM Teachers’ Association and have a BSc (hons) degree from the University of Bristol. I have taught individuals, small groups and evening classes, as well as workshops and courses for businesses, colleges, the WEA, the WI and the local council. I have run workshops at festivals such as the Larmer Tree and the Big Green Gathering. I have taught music students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I also taught students at the Musical Theatre School in Somerset, and dance students at Bristol Dance Centre. I love teaching this work because I love seeing my students improve their movement, their thinking and the way they see themselves as well as the way they see the world.

Calderdale Music Trust was established in May 2015 having previously been part of the local authority when it was known as Calderdale Music Service. In 2019, we took an important step forward in our transformational journey. We made changes to our structure and the way we operate, including the appointment of a new leadership team who share a passion and vision for making a positive difference in the communities we serve. Marking a new chapter, we have invested in our stunning new flagship HQ in Halifax, that will make it easier to bring people together, providing a community base for live performances, private lessons, a place to gather, and much more. We also listened to feedback from our schools, parents and our team resulting in our new name and brand identity: Calderdale Music. There’s no final destination; we see this as an ongoing journey to keep doing better and providing better services, which we’ll do by listening to the needs of our learners, their guardians, schools and hub partners. The Justice and Peace Commission seeks to be a visible sign for Justice and Peace in the Diocese and the wider community. Our work is based on Gospel Values and Catholic Social Teaching. As Christians we believe in the dignity of human beings and the rights of people to live in peace. We take action on the most pressing issues facing our communities, such as Climate Change, Poverty and racism. The Commission is made up of around a dozen volunteers who meet 4 times a year to direct the work of the Commission. There is a smaller executive that meets in between and makes more day to day decisions. This structure is supplemented with action groups based on our priorities plus a Justice Spirituality group. Much of the work of the Commission is undertaken by volunteers. This is supplemented by paying individuals or organisations to provide specific services to the Commission.
