ZunTold is an independent publishing company, based in Manchester, focusing on publishing good fiction to support mental health and wellbeing. We publish Middle Grade and YA fiction and love working with established voices as well as debut authors. Our authors have been nominated for literary prizes, including the Carnegie Medal, and won prestigious awards too, like the Lancashire Book of the Year Award, chosen solely by young people aged 13-14 years of age. We work with agented authors but twice a year, (in June for YA and in December for Middle Grade) we open our doors to authors who do not have an agent. We do not publish picture books as we don’t have the expertise to do so. We publish in print, e-book and interactive books. We run a programme we call Fiction as Therapy. Our staff are publishing professionals, writers, editors, counsellors and psychotherapists who have also trained in Therapeutic Writing. Books are 'healers for the soul' and creative writing brings many health benefits. Our Fiction as Therapy service offers a therapeutic programme of bibliotherapy across different age audiences and creative writing for therapeutic purposes, for young people and adults looking to support their mental and physical health and wellbeing. There is a growing evidence base that therapeutic writing and bibliotherapy can support people with long term physical health conditions as well as improving mental health. We are building links with NHS Trusts and Social Care providing an online library and blended services of tailored support to individuals and communities.

Meet Amanda Flewitt, Owner & Trainer: As my 45th birthday is coming up, it got me thinking about how lucky I am to be doing a job I love. I have come a long way, literally, as I was born in New Zealand and moved to the Wirral when I was 2 years old! I’ve always been creative. I gained my Graphic Design degree from Newcastle University, then I worked in the advertising and design industry up and down the country, in Liverpool, Edinburgh, London, and Manchester. But, as it often does in life, fate intervened. I was made redundant 3 times before I was 3- years old and I decided to retrain while looking for another job. I learned how to do nails, and I carried on doing them part-time when I got a job as an Art Director in Manchester. Once I had completed my nail qualifications, I built up a client base in my spare time, carrying out treatments after work and evenings, and eventually renting a small room in a hairdresser’s. My small business grew and I decided to take the plunge to rent a larger premises and even employ staff. On the day I picked up the salon shop sign I got made redundant from the Manchester job! Wow that was not what I was expecting. But forced me to focus on making the most of it and I have never looked back. After owning a few salons in the area I an now based in the a gorgeous room in the very professional Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre, where I offer Private small group and one to one accredited training and even manage to find time to pamper my lovely loyal clients that have followed me over the last 13 years. And I love it! l have also taught beauty and nails, multi media design and even retail at West Cheshire college for 10 years, and community leisure courses in basic skincare and makeup. I love teaching, and I get such a buzz from helping someone to learn a new skill. But even better, is the feeling I get when I know that I have helped them to pursue a completely new career, or to start their own business. I personally teach all my courses, either in small groups or one to one. I love passing on hints, tips, and professional techniques to my students. I always offer them support after the course, and I invite them back to resit it if they feel like they need to. They also get access to a private Facebook group, where they can get support, access videos, and much more. My aim is to have every student leave my courses with not only a sense of achievement, but the confidence and ability to be a fantastic therapist. My work makes me feel proud, and so does juggling my career with being a mother to my wonderful, and cheeky 6-year-old son. He is my motivation, my inspiration, and my constant reminder of why I do what I do every single day. Beckinridge was established in 1993 in response to a growing need for high quality training in Ireland, primally focusing on a then emerging IT industry. Over time the company has extended its coverage and now provides training to SME and Corporate clients in a broad range of sectors. Eddie McDonald (a co-founder and current Managing Director) can recall the early days in a one room office in their accountant’s building, travelling with a car full of computers (heavy machines then!) to various venues around Ireland. The Choral Leadership Network, inspired and led by the Hallé, brings together a range of partners involved in choral singing and training. Their aim is to promote the joy of choral singing through increased training and resource opportunities for choral leaders, promoting best practice within any type of choral genre, encouraging more boys to sing and supporting conducting with young leaders. Partners include Opera North, Royal Northern College of Music, Greater Manchester Music Hub, Sing For Pleasure and Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD), amongst others. A major project they have supported recently has been a workshop run by ABCD, focussing on Boys’ changing voices. Including members of the Hallé Children’s and Youth Training Choir, Dr Martin Ashley (Professor of Music at Edge Hill University and leading researcher on Cambiata voices), choral leaders were guided on repertoire suitable for boys’ changing voices, how the physical changes to a boy’s voice may impact the sound, and finally their own Hallé Youth Director Stuart Overington, ran a short workshop to help brush up their conducting skills.

Ron Bell was born and bred in Manchester, but spent much of his life in the Reading/Oxford area, working as a scientific computing specialist. He retired to Scotland in 2007 – mainly so that he could continue to climb Scottish hills without risking his life on the M6 – and has lived happily near Melrose, in the Scottish Borders ever since. He became a photographic judge whilst still living in England and continued under the auspices of the Scottish Photographic Federation from 2009. He achieved LRPS in 2010, and is a past Chairman of Galashiels Camera Club and, currently, their External Competition Secretary. Ron's other passion in life, besides photography, is climbing Scottish hills. He has completed all of the Munros (including the Tops and Furths) on his 60th birthday whilst still living Down South, and completed the Corbetts on his 70th. Ron is currently working on the Grahams and Donalds to complete all 1094 hills in the Scotttish Mountaineering Club’s “Full House”. He has a mere 33 left to do – but is in a race against old age
