As a membership organisation, our Articles of Association detail two tiers of membership, namely Primary Funding Members (PFMs) who form the Board of Directors and Standard Members who form the Strategic Advisory Group. Whilst WRE is independent of any controlling interest by individual organisations or sectors, it is dependent upon those organisations represented on its Board of Directors to resource its day to day running. Those organisations represented on the Board must make meaningful contributions that collectively fund or otherwise facilitate WRE’s function. These can be a direct financial contribution of a minimum 3% of the day to day operational costs for the organisation (salaries, accommodation and expenses), or an ‘in kind’ contribution which is equivalent to a 3% direct contribution. This can take the form, for example, of the provision of a support service which reduces the overall operational cost of the business. For organisations wishing to make donations ‘in kind’, the Board of Directors in place at that time will decide whether the contribution is sufficient for an organisation to become a PFM. PFMs will nominate a named individual within their organisation for appointment as a non-executive director of the company. Contributions will be disclosed to the other PFMs. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE: Setting of the overall strategy and vision for Water Resources East. Appointment of the Chairman and the Managing Director Remuneration policy for the Chairman, Managing Director and Technical Director Approval of the annual budget and the Business Plan Appointment of new Directors and approval of applications from Standard Members. Appointment of sub-committees and specific working groups, and approval of resources for the delivery of key workstreams.

I’ve set up a community interest company to offer coaching and support to people, including those who wouldn’t normally consider it or be able to access it. This can help them to gain clarity about what they want, increase their resilience and develop an action plan for their future. It’s about 10 years since I first had some coaching sessions, to help me find a new direction after redundancy. I really appreciated being able to confide in someone who was independent of my life, yet committed to my progress. It was very satisfying to have the space to consider what really mattered to me and to explore my hopes and fears. I started to see my situation differently and began to trust myself to follow the direction that seemed to be beckoning me. Years later, a chance opportunity to go to a taster session in coach training led me to enrol on the course, followed by a course in Advanced Coaching Skills. This has helped me to build on the experience I’ve gained in working with people over the course of my career and apply my learning to help others. I’ve worked in a range of interesting projects over the years: Talking to people to find out how work affects their health and helping to reduce the impactChalk heart on bench Evaluating how engaging in live music can help people in healthcare settings Working with voluntary organisations to develop new strategies Implementing research to improve the health of patient groups Interviewing prisoners about their health and social care needs Supporting those with a health condition or disability to find training, volunteering or employment I’ve seen and experienced the benefits that coaching can bring, and look forward to reaching out to people who want to change their life, enabling them to look inside for their own inspiration.

Llantrisant RCT

I set up my workshop in 1983 after leaving the Royal College of Art. In 1990 I established my studio in Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant. I work primarily in anodised aluminium producing one off and batch production jewellery. As the material is light and not too expensive I can make large, bold pieces which are both wearable and affordable. Most importantly, by anodising it, I can achieve bright and brilliant colour effects. My passions My three passions are colour, pattern and technique. I love making things and exploring the possibilities of different materials. Although I trained as a jeweller, my work has been heavily influenced by both traditional and contemporary textiles. Over the last twenty years I have also been developing work in felt. I combine this with my jewellery practice to create both functional pieces and work that is purely decorative. My creative ancestry inspires me Much of my recent work has evolved from looking back at my creative ancestry. It was my grandmothers who initiated my fascination with making objects. They passed on their traditional textile skills and started my passion for creating anything from colourful materials. In 2010, I received an Arts Council of Wales grant to help me purchase a laser cutter which enabled me to develop new work. I have used this to explore different materials such as taffeta, acrylic, cardboard and wood. This has opened up many exciting possibilities and I feel I have only just started this journey. I am involved in many craft groups and associations. I am regional co-ordinator and Chair of the International Feltmakers Association. I am a member of the Makers Guild in Wales, of the Association of Contemporary Jewellery and of MaP, a textile group. I have exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, USA and Canada.
