Newport Girls’ High School offers an all-round education with considerable strengths both inside and beyond the classroom. We support students academically to achieve their potential, whilst also developing resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing. As a relatively small school, there is a real family-feel to NGHS and our house system affords students the chance to meet peers in other year groups and to participate in healthy competition in a wide range of disciplines. There is an extra-curricular activity to suit all tastes at NGHS and staff work exceptionally hard to provide these opportunities for our students. We also organise a number of key open events during the academic year and welcome visitors to see all that NGHS has to offer. Our curriculum is academically rigorous with all students studying two modern languages in KS3 and separate sciences at GCSE. Some students also study Further Maths as an additional equivalent GCSE. At A-level we offer a full range of subjects to enable progression to university, apprenticeship or employment. Significant support with UCAS applications is available to all. Our pastoral team, comprising both teaching Heads of Year, SENDCO and non-teaching support staff ensure that our students’ individual needs are met and we work closely with families and primary schools to ensure a smooth transfer from Year 6. Newport Girls’ High School was visited by Ofsted in October 2019 for a section 8 inspection. We are delighted to have retained our outstanding status as a result of this visit under the revised Ofsted framework.

A non profit CIC, we strive to lead by example, inspire and empower, raise aspirations and improve individual and community wellbeing, Seadream offers a fantastic variety of tailored workshops and activities – some fully funded and we facilitate public engagement and effective collaboration. We strive to source funding which enables us to deliver accessible STEM outreach programmes, workshops and activities to the wider community, across cities and rural locations, adapting programmes to suit all needs. Understanding and respect for the world around us underpins Seadream Education and drives positive outcomes within and throughout the community. Although we are a non-profit organisation we have a desire to grow, to generate a steady income stream, to build the security needed to employ more staff, to have better resources and to have a greater impact. We create value as a team of professional scientists striving to showcase our experiences in unique and modern ways. We have advanced knowledge and diverse experiences and we are committed to develop new and better ways to share our experiences as well as continuing to advance our own skillsets. We are passionate about STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths and we offer a fantastic variety of tailored workshops and activities for schools, clubs, organisations, businesses and events. WEST is a small charity with a big aim: to inspire girls and women to study and work in non-traditional trades and careers like engineering.Wendy Miller “I was the first full-time female student to study engineering at Sheffield College. After employment as a draughtsperson and engineering project manager, I have worked in education since 2004. I am now Learning and Teaching Lead at the AMRC Training Centre, run by the University of Sheffield, which delivers Engineering Apprenticeships from Advanced to Degree Level. I joined WEST because I believe passionately that we need to actively change women’s perception of STEM careers – and men’s perception of women in engineering! There is a world of opportunity out there for young women and we are missing a lot of talent.” Pat Morton (Chair) Pat Morton (Chair) “I spent 20 years in the construction industry as a surveyor and another 20 years in Higher Education working in equality – particularly gender equality – in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and built environment. When Ros Wall died we wanted to do something active to remember her. She was a real activist so we decided to set up WEST and support a cause dear to Ros’s heart.” Saj Parveen Saj Parveen “I undertook a foundation course in engineering at Sheffield College / Sheffield Hallam University, followed by a degree in engineering, and then a postgraduate certificate. I’m now a senior lecturer in mechanical design engineering. I love developing and inspiring the next generation of engineers and especially keen to see more women becoming engineers, which is why I got involved with WEST.”

Matravers School is a large, traditional 11-18 school pleasantly situated in the centre of the market town of Westbury. We occupy a very large, spacious 13-acre site. The school buildings are of mixed age, blending traditional with more modern buildings. Recently the school has benefited from state-of-the-art additions including: an £8.5million STEM (Science, maths, technology) Centre in 2019; a £1.5million upgrade to our English and Humanities block in 2020; a new Dance and Music block added in 2000; a Sports Hall and Dining Hall added in 2004; a Drama block added in 2008; and a new Sixth Form block added in 2012. Technology plays a central part in our school and we benefit from a range of technology and teaching facilities throughout the school. On-site facilities include specialist accommodation for Technology, Art and Ceramics and Photography. There is one large gymnasium for Physical Education alongside a new Sports Centre and a purpose-built fitness suite. The Sports Centre is also used by the community in the evenings. There are a separate Music and Drama building with specialised Dance Studios and Music Performance and Practice rooms. Specialised Science laboratories enable the School to offer a full programme in Science to every student. Our brand new Sixth Form building opened in 2012 to accommodate our Sixth Form offering an exciting and modern learning environment. Further significant investment in the school has led to: re-housing and updating our library provision; creating an upgraded Food Technology area; refurbishing our main teaching block; re-decorating our Music block; creating our "Outdoor Education" facility; creating our Allotment; upgrading our Inclusion facilities; installation of a "Fitness Suite".

The organisation was founded as the Wildfowlers’ Association of Great Britain and Ireland (WAGBI) in 1908 by Stanley Duncan FZS and Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey Bt. Why did Stanley Duncan form the Association? There were three main reasons why he set up WAGBI: He wanted to help professional wildfowlers. He was becoming alarmed at the increasing drainage and subsequent development of excellent wildfowl habitat. He realised that as time went by it would be necessary to defend the sport of wildfowling against the growing enthusiasm of extremists.
